If you could change the system, knowing full well that the new system would greatly reduce the number of abortions, and yet you refused on whatever reason, then it is clear that your views are not about "the babies"; they are about politics. On the same note I ask you, would you vote for an extreme left-wing candidate if that candidate was pro-life on abortion? If you say no, that proves my point. It would not be about "babies" to you but rather politics.
More babies will be saved from abortion if the USA changes to a Marxist system where all are taken care of regardless of social status. American-style capitalism and the mindset that goes with it ("it's all about ME") cannot coexist with a truly pro-life society. Ayn Rand, who was a staunch capitalist, was strongly for abortion rights, because of her "me first" ideology. Think about it.
Marxism and fascism are total opposites. Didn't you take political philosophy in college? (I'm a bit biased against stupidity because poli phil is my major.)
Women would not feel the need to have an abortion under a socialist or Marxist system because they would have their needs taken care of. In a capitalist system, which puts profits over people, women would feel the need to have an abortion more in fear of losing their job to have a child.

You cannot judge Marxism as a whole based on China's government. Besides, Maoism (along with Stalinism) is NOT Marxism by any means. China is Maoist, not Marxist. And Marxism differs from Socialism in many aspects. And yes, women would still have abortions in any society, but abortion would be highly unlikely if these women had health care along with a good economy, which is what Marxism can bring. Besides, in highly capitalist Latin American countries the abortion rate is higher.
The only political way to end abortion is by bettering the economy as well as bettering health care and education. Eliminate poverty and you will have eliminated 90% of abortions.
Please, learn about things before you preach about them.
julias Re "Eliminate poverty and you will have eliminated 90% of abortions." Again too simplistic! In some genuinely impoverished countries then poverty might be a factor.. But in e.g.the USA and UK it is rarely the REAL issue.. Most abortions there appear to be for "convenience" and a high percentage occur in the 16-25 year old age group.. To look solely to politicians to solve abortion smacks of buck passing..far better to promote the ideal of people personally assuming FULL RESPONSIBILITY.
Putting this into context, you'll see that the abortion (at least legal abortion, which they have clear statistics for) rates are much higher in poorer countries than in richer, socialist ones. The Scandinavian countries, which are all socialist, have very low abortion rates compared to the former Soviet Republics, which became hardcore capitalist after the fall of the USSR and have terrible economies. Please learn something about sociology or comparative politics, for the love of god.
The main problem here is the disregard for human life and the willingness to kill for the sake of our own convenience. Solving the poverty problem won't change the callous hearts of people.
julias Re "The Scandinavian countries, which are all socialist, have very low abortion rates " I live in Europe and yet this is news to me ! Since when was Scandinavia "all socialist"? Besides the populations in Scandinavia are so miniscule that they can hardly be relied upon as represntative. Re "learn something about sociology or comparative politics, for the love of god" Patronising much! Anyhow it doesn`t seem to have benefitted you too greatly!
Poverty has nothing to do with it. The rich have abortions too. The major difference being that they pay for them themselves, while poorer people have theirs paid for by tax payer dollars.
Individually, but as long as abortion is viewed as a legitimate choice, workplaces and universities see less reason to make changes necessary to give the women who don't have abortions equal rights, equal pay, and equal opportunity. Abortion is just a tool for maintaining the status quo.
Also, abortion may cost an individual less money, but it costs her child's life, too. Not worth it.
China today is communist in name only. Most of it is capitalist, and thus a gap is starting to grow between the rich and the poor. Plus they have a one-child law which is the main reason for abortions there.
I really do wish you people would study up on comparative politics before posting crap on here.
"I really do wish you people would study up on comparative politics before posting crap on here. "
So I get grief for asking a question? Yikes. If I had gone on about how "China is Communist" then you would have a point. However jumping up my ass for asking a question is rude.

I often ask pro-abortion people:
Why should a child have to die for the sake of your reproductive rights?
So far, nobody has been able to answer that.

This "culture of me" is rooted in the capitalist system. With a marxist system everyone will be taken care of, so abortion will not be necessary.
juliaisafilmbuff123 3 years ago
Abortion isn't necessary under any system, and I doubt Marxism is the answer. Aren't Marxist nations equally messed up and fascist?

You mean to tell me women don't have abortions in socialist nations? Isn't communism a branch of socialism? They have forced abortions in china.

I'm not convinced marxism is the answer. If people would just respect the human rights of the unborn and outlaw killing them, we'd be better off.

As long as people think it's okay to dispose of children for monetary reasons, we won't eliminate poverty.
