Wow I agree with what he said regarding the collapse of the USSR.  For the last 7-10 years I have been saying that US culture died when USSR collapsed. It is as though the support of music, education, freedom, social mobility and physical education/sports for children was only supported to compete with the Soviets, only to make them look bad by comparison, rather than because we deserved it. The second they collapsed: lower taxes for the rich, cut music, cut sports, cut jobs, cut college.
