I have run into him two times in San Antonio and I have realized that

he doesn't like to meet fans in public places,he gets mad just like many

It's hard to believe for you but I did see him rollerblading in San Antonio.

It was a coincidence. I saw him before in Sears when I was working for

them and in that store he got in trouble with the manager because he

was been too loud and wanted to use a door employees of Sears could

only use that would lead to the first floor. But well, the few times I have

seen him,they haven't been pleasant and it was clear to me that he doesn't

want fans to approach him in public.

My apologies for messing up the names in my last post. Star Trek itself was even played less often in the rural, more conservative Southeast because of it's highly liberal message. The first interrracial kiss on TV, between Kirk and Uhura, caused protest from conservatives who found the idea of blacks and whites kissing to be disgusting.

The thing I didn't like about this movie was that it felt like Abrahms just took the Star Trek characters and put them in a Star Wars story. It's not really a true Star Trek work. Star Trek was originally a very liberal, political, atheistic show but Abrahms, having dropped out of the third grade, doesn't understand that.

No, I would have to disagree with that. Yes, Star Trek was socially more liberal, but Captain Kirk was the ultimate Neo-Con. If he saw something he didn't like about a society, such as a computer system controlling a war between two worlds, or a society misreading a copy of the U.S. Constitution. He would violate law, go in and change it.

I think the new Star Trek gives the series a much needed reboot while maintaining some of the core of the series.

Captain Kirk is one of the most liberal characters to ever appear on television. Wiliam Shatner even says in his book "Star Trek Memories," that Captain Kirk was basically just John F. Kennedy in space. I don't see how any of the evidence you cited supports the claim that he was a neo-con. Violating laws to achieve one's ends is neither liberal nor conservative. Henry David Thoreau and Mahatma Gandhi, both liberals, did exactly that to a degree that few others in history can rival.

The one thing I felt was beginning to suck about the Star Trek movies, and I hope they don't repeat it now, is that the Enterprise in EVERY movie always faces a situation where the fate of earth rests in the balance. It was getting old after awhile. Do something cool like Star Trek VI where the Enterprise is trying to stop rogue Federation and Klingon delegates from sabotaging ongoing peace talks.

In fact, the episode you cited, when Captain Kirk thinks the inhabitants misunderstand the Constitution, is a very liberal episode. The criticism being made symbolically was that "all men are created equal" applies to everyone "not just to the kangs but to the kongs as well." Roddenberry, himself an atheist and lifelong liberal, was criticizing the conservative movement of his day for denying equal rights to African Americans (i.e. preventing their right to marriage).

I think that explains why Uhura was the worst of the recast characters.

I will say, though, that Nichelle Nichols Uhura is more more likeable and, in my opinion, much prettier. :)

@StoneKnivesBearskins: You also have to remember that Uhura, as a character, is a lot younger in this film than Nichelle's Uhura was. She had yet to cement her place, her career, her sense of person. These characters in the new film are at least 10yrs younger than the ones we met in the Original Series, who were all confident in who they were. Naturally, Uhura would be different as a young woman, everyone is when they're younger.
