  • Check out the great chris thomas king being disrespected..as he plays live.....I play myself, and I smile to myself..as the egos in the audience carry on....and remember him...I'm humbeled to be in his company. P.S. This goes for anywhere in your life you find yourself witnessing truth, beauty, and hard work belittled...especially your own...you are in the finest of company..smile and testify!

  • She forgot to mention she took favourite verses from three Johnson songs. (Or was I imagining the verse from "Me and the Devil Blues"?) Not that I'm knocking her for it. I've been a fan for years. I'd love to hear how she'd sound on a resonator guitar, though . . .

  • saw her in Bristol England , excellent set

  • Sadly it looks like this audience isn't concentrating much. They are talking and milling about. She is excellent. This looks like one of her better performances too.

  • I find that the ones who criticize are usually the ones sittin' around playin' video games, surfin' the web and doin' nothin' constructive on their own, except bitchin' and moanin'! Hey is that a blues song?

  • I used to hitch hike to Rory's house in E. Chatham, N.Y. from Falls Village, CT back in 1979-80 for guitar lessons. I have great memories of those days and she was a wonderful teacher. I still play guitar today because of her. She was a great influence in my life. I love the blues and I have a high degree of respect for Rory and for her efforts in keeping the blues tradition alive.

  • hi. nice to meet someone who was a student of rorys. I was also a student but did not have to hitchhike to get there. did drive 3 hours one way tho. I just saw her at the Iron Horse. She's still great of course. Do you live in Ct?

  • I'm truly fascinated by some of the comments on this clip. "If you like this, you mustn't know anything about blues", "I can't tell if it's male or female", "totally ruined the song", etc etc.

Block has been one of the mainstays of acoustic blues for decades. She has forgotten more about country blues than some of the posters here have remembered.

  • don't even bother defending to a bunch of obvious jerk offs

  • OH PLEASE, DO ENLIGHTEN US!! Really, I'm all ears............

So, what stage(s) have you played?? You DO PLAY don't you?? I'd like too hear your stuff, since your SO CRITICAL about someone who's been doing her thing "ON STAGE" for quite some time!! People like you, are a dime a dozen, I hear it all the time in music shops about female players! That's ok, If I were Rory, I'd prefer too have my seats taken by the people that KNOW their blues & enjoy the people that keep "original" styles alive!

  • I thought she was relatively young. I didn't know she had been around this long.

  • LAME. 100%. Stop barking the vocal. It's wrong, this is music history.

  • She's used to live near me, Egermont Mass. I think or somewhere thereabouts, we used to go watch her 30 plus yrs. ago, yikes, am I that old, glad to know she's still around, I really enjoyed her back in the day. Woody's Roadhouse, Arlo Guthrie, the Zarvis Bros. R.i.p. Woody's roadhouse.

  • Yeah -- I used to live there too at that time -- she lived in Ghent, NY -- might still. I used to be into her big time back then. I had all her albums. I saw her do a great concert in Hudson, NY where whe did her hits (more pop-ish than hard-core blues) She even did the Rose Royce song, "Car Wash"! Also, remember that band called Fatt (or Fat), from around that same time? They were pretty cool too. Lead singer was some giant (tall) Frankenstien type -- they had a lot of good energy.

  • Ruined this song..R.J. put that emotion into all his music, she sucks it dry.

  • Rory (Aurora) Block has won countless awards for her music. I have heard her in person twice & met her. She's very down to earth, & takes her dogs & husband touring around the US with her. Type her name in the search engine & go to her site. For those who don't like her- TS- go somewhere else & listen to your rap or country western; I'll keep listening to HIGH QUALITY music like Rory's.

  • you people are morons really. shut up and play, as i've told a few people, alot of times. I've only been playing for about 4 years... and blues for about 2, but i just dont like this artist. i dont know what it is... but i cant tell if it's a guy or a girl. the comments refer to it as him. i dont mean to be rude but i honestly cant tell.

  • hmmm, if you honestly can't tell that this is 100% a woman, then are you listening closely? Besides the looks, she's really sounding female...and great, in my humble opinion.

  • how could anyone think this is a man???????

  • Hi Meopinion are you kiddington I have been

  • eeeh, didnt know that u could play & understand the blues that well! Oh whell!! excellento! gonna try u more! :)

  • DaveM, to make that comment requires you to have not listened to so much better acoustic guitar players it's unbelievable. Try maybe the original artist or the people he learned from, or Ari Eisinger or John Miller or . . .

  • Rory thank you no better Acoustic Blues player ever
