Even though i dislike the Republican Party and many of it's members, i would gladly have voted for him in 1988. 1989-1992 was a pretty awesome time to be around, and he made it a bit more awesome. When I do bother to vote, I vote Democrat.
However, I do appreciate HW Bush. His words often come to mind about a "kinder, gentler nation" and "a thousand points of light."
He meant that we need to be the change we wish to see in the world. To have a kinder, gentler nation, we each need to become kinder and gentler. A thousand points of light means that we should avoid a power elite (a financially-powered leadership), in favor of a whole sky full of bright stars (all Americans sharing power.)
