Wow, that was very interesting! You're very creative and edit your videos very well^^ I'm sorry you had a 3 hour headache.. I also love micro photography and your pictures are great XD
Macro- photog. is fascinating because it reminds us that there are many different "worlds" where everything is about the same size, for example, the pictures of the Hubble Telescope where everything is light-years in size. Then the human scale, the insect scale (which you photograph), the microbe scale(everything in our world is covered in bacteria and we don't know it) and the Atomic Scale, viewed with a STM microscope(invented by Germans! hehehe!) which shows individual atoms! It's amazing! :)
Another interesting puzzle about you: I will look into Neil Stephenson too. I just read an article about him on Wikipedia. He sounds interesting. The closest author I can think that sounds like him is Michael Crichton. Sort of Sci-Fi, with some hi-tech terror like Viruses or Dinosaur DNA, etc. My question is: Wow, you read all of Neil Stephenson, but are there any other authors you read? If not, that is really interesting! What makes his books so special to you? :)
hmm... Neal Stephenson's books aren't "typical" Sci-Fi, they're mostly very focused on science and history. I'm interested in how our society could be if it was different. N.S. has that a lot in his books, plus I love his writing style.
Other authors I like are Matt Ruff (e.g. Sewer, Gas & Electrics) and Jasper Fforde.
Think about the ways the world could have evolved; It's easy to imagine things so different! With Atom Bombs, Computers, Internet, and Genetic Engineering, many different scenarios are possible, and the scary thing is that many are worse than the world we know today! The biggest mystery for me starts back at the evolutionary branching of pre-human species. Why are humans so much more intelligent than the second place species? What made that happen? What if there were two or three smart species?
Two very real forces of change that I have to worry about are large Comet collisions (just look at the Moon) And genetically modified bacteria or plants which may be prolific and toxic to humans. I'm glad that neither of these two events have happened yet! :) Also, look at scientific breakthroughs. No one can predict the next one (like the PC+software)I'm old enough to remember when PC's were just invented for home use. No one could figure out what to do with them! No one predicted cell phones..
One huge change that will happen soon, once better storage batteries are invented; is that everyone will drive an electric car almost overnight. No one will buy gasoline. The whole world's economy will shift away from gas and oil to electric cars. That means the oil producing nations will suddenly be poor again! So, it's amazing how fast our world could change with just one or two inventions.
I forgot to say, there will be a single world language and one currency, like the Euro! People will unite to defend the planet against environmental disasters. And one of my favorite hobbies: Physics, is long overdue for fundamental conceptual breakthroughs! There are still too many fundamental forces and particles. Maybe the new CERN LHC will provide some data to suggest new theories. Nobody understands why gravity is so much weaker than the other fund. Forces. Something new needs to happen.
Of course, science is not all bad! Good things will happen to us in the future! Many more diseases will be cured. Drugs and therapies will be invented. I think a way to directly connect to nerve tissues will be discovered and paralyzed people will be able to control their limbs with their minds. I think a true world government will be created. Computers will simulate human behavior much better. With speech and object recognition. Everyone will have access to infinite learning opportunities, etc.
Question Part II: I said I was fascinated by you too, here is why: If you have Cataglyphis as your username, and thank-you, I understand Cataglyphis now! :) But, then why do you use a Rabbit as your Channel Icon? One would expect a nice Ant picture, right?! Hehehe! See why I said you are puzzling too? :) I'm afraid that every puzzle about you that you explain, will only create another fresh question in it's place. But I don't mind. I love puzzles and mysteries! They are fun, and so are you! :)
The green plastic rabbit (or rather, hare) played a role in several of my videos and has become something like my trademark ... or a running gag/joke ;)
My uncle gave it to me for my birthday a couple of years ago. It had been part of an art installation by Ottmar Hoerl in Nuremberg, Germany.
Thanks for directing me to this video! Has anyone said you are unique? Different? That is a good thing! Now I am fascinated by Cataglyphis too! And you. Although I must admit, Cataglyphis is even more mysterious. How do the ants find their way? The YT Video said they take many looks at the sun to get their position. Here is an experiment someone must try: What if you put them in a cage with a false sun and you moved the sun while they walked? Would they find their way if the sun moves? :)
Well, the ants don't exactly look at the sun's position but at the sun's polarized light. No idea if they could be tricked with a fake sun - probably yes.
QUIIITSCHHH!!
oh and btw, the German countdown (and the music in the end) is taken from "Raumpatrouille Orion", a Sixties sci-fi TV series ... Germans desperately trying to appear NOT German ;D The series is one of my all time TV/movie favorites.
LOL! It made perfect sense! (Way more than my comment!)
Hmmm - maybe we can fake Gatherings and kidnap noobs for our new Awesome trafficking business... OK, so they're lower quality than Most-Subscribed YouTubers, but our profit margins should be good!

Yeah, that second thumb shows that kind of eyplanation you mentioned. :)
