If you lost your contacts go into your settings, then Mail,Contacts, Calendars then scroll down and hit "Import SIM contacts". only works if your contacts are on the SIM card

I think you have to manually type your contacts in you computer. It looks like it syncs the computer contacts to your phone and not the other way around. If there is another way to do it I don't know.

who ever lost your contacts should go to itunes and go to your devices. right click on your device and click 'restore from back up'. you will get your contacts back :)

@guitarmkb What he neglects to mention is that in order to copy your iphone address book to your computer address book you have to enter at least one contact into your computer address book so that the two can merge. I tried his way with my ipod and all my contacts were erased (fml); I tried it my way on my ipad and all my contacts transfered (thank god i had a copy on my ipad) — at least thats how it works on a mac.

Is the computer you used in the video the one you sync with normally because my windows laptop was stolen as I have never synced my iphone 4 with new laptop so can I select to sync contacts to windows contacts and will they be wiped?

@akitchinNZ Hmmm. Well I don't know if contacts are affected by being synced to other computers, I know that music is. Maybe try updating to iOS 5 and see if it will back everything up? It might just have to sync your music over again, but they you can use iCloud for your contacts as well

jesus guys there is a much simpler way to do this....get a sim card memory machine, that you put the old card into and save all numbers, then add the new sim and upload all the numbers, dead dead easy, may cost like 2 quid or summit but far easier than this way

@samsungdart Well the way I have my Android phone set up now was, to sync it with Google Contacts. If there is a way that you can export them and import to Google Contacts that is the best permanent way to keep it, since they'll be on your computer, iPod, and phone all at once!
