Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooo much for posting this!!!!!!!!!!! I went to that show and was soooooo excited the night before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I miss this show!
This is best live show I have ever seen at Disneyland. I loved this show. I worked there the summer this was playing when I was 16, was my first job, And I saw the show many times. Thanks for posting this.
I missed this when it was at the park. LOVE the bright comic-book sets and costumes!! Confused by the wretched music. Was there something wrong with the Sondheim songs and Elfman score???

In your description, you wrote that Sondheim wrote the songs. Although Sondheim did write a few tunes for the movie, according to my sources, the "Calling Dick Tracy" song was written for the theme park show by Tom Child and Don Harper

@jimmymerced, hmmm. I thought I changed that a while ago. I remember a "Tom Child", I don't recognize the other name yet. Thanks for reading the description. :)
This is alsome! I have my own version home that was recorded for my by my father when I was like 4 years old. Mine was recored at night and parts and bits is missing.
Im glad I can see the whole thing! I just wish it was closer. But thanks for posting, I might post my version up as well soon.
I know people HATE this show - but I think it's the best show since the Kids of the Kingdom at Disney (as in the REAL KOK - from the 80s)... The staging and choreography, both the dancers and the set movement, is pretty damn BRILLIANT. I love it.
I remember this stage show at DL(former annual passholder). This was my favorite stage show,on this video I was sitting on the front row center in the aisle seat
It was Videopolis, One Man's Dream, Dick Tracy, Plane Crazy, Beauty & the Beast, Pocahontas, Animazement, Mickey's Detective School, Snow White, and now Princess Fantasy Faire.
A hint of inspiration from the movie? It's directly taken from the movie! The logo... the costumes... the makeup... the schtick... it's all from the movie. I like the movie, too. I like a lot of Disney films, which is why when I go to the Disney parks I avoid the live shows like the plague. Overall it's obvious that these are some talented singers and dancers, but the people who write the show are complete hacks.
The music is horrible. Dick Tracy takes place in the 1930s, but there's a faux-rock music soundtrack. Who writes this crap? I like Disney parks, but the live shows are atrociously stupid.
Well the Dick Tracy stories came from a comic book series source. The movie took that hint and IMHO did a brilliant job. This show reflects that comic book feel and takes a hint of inspiration from the movie. I love the music. "Calling Dick Tracy" is catchy. Plus, it's a musical. I know not many people like musicals. So I just take it for what it is. Go check out a youtube video of Disney-MGM's show. IMO, not as good of a job as Disneyland's.
I remember this from my home movies from Disney world. Thank you so much, I was 7 when it came out and the music still sticks with me today.

I didn't know Videopolis was around that long.
And it's weird how they promoted a movie that has Madonna having her chest blurred out when on television...

You mean in that black "dress" in her dressing room with Tracy?

That is so cool that this is posted online, this show literally changed the course of my life. I know it sounds lame but it's true nonetheless

psh no dick tracy is Bad Ass!

it does have pretty catchy songs, but it seems like the music seems kinda out of place, more late 80s early 90s metal than 30s, but still good anyway

I think it would have been cool if Warren Beatty appeared in the stage show as a one time appearance as Dick Tracy!
