I'm Filipino and happy that Pacquiao had a great victory. I also believe that Cotto is a true Warrior, because he hung in there. He did his best and gave his best and I have great respect for him. He's a good fighter and most of all he has a good heart and respects Pacquiao (vise versa)! Pacquiao is the best fighter, but I also give credit to Cotto's perseverance!

There was never an offer put on the table between Top Rank and Mayweather to fight Cotto. Paul Williams wasn't really in the picture until he beat Margarito. Margarito was avoided by many people but after watching Shane beat his tail from start to finish I can't see Margarito ever beating Floyd. If Cotto wins then you will see Cotto vs Mayweather.

I dont agree, look at cotto's most recent big fights - clottey and margarito, he started off brilliantly and faded. I tend to agree with the guy who said he was at his prime vs mosley. Hes beggining to remind me a tiny little bit like jermain taylor - fantastic boxer, brilliant even. But lacking stamina, when they get so tired they fall to the ropes and invite pressure onto themselfs.
I knew someone would mention the Margarito! Of course, if I was just going to use his last two fights as a yardstick then it kinda defeats my argument. I'm just talking about the way cotto likes to fight- he tends to wear his opponents down over several rounds. Against Margarito it looked more like the heavy (plaster)punches were causing him trouble than his stamina. Clottey was different-but he didn't look the same guy in that fight, like he was still shaken by the Margarito beating.
Of course anything could happen- cotto could land heavy early, Pacquiao could use DLH tactics and dart in and out and win on points. All I'm saying is I expect Cotto to use his strength and power to impose himself on the fight over several rounds. When I see his fights,his opponents realise by the 5th round or so that they're really in a fight, rather than a boxing match. He just keeps coming forward, keeps grinding them down. Manny had THREE defeats, like that one against Morales 2003 or 2004. Cotto wasn't "damaged goods", he looked great, he was confident, he started 3 months ahead of Pacquiao and had all the time to prepare. he's even younger than Pacquiao. I'm sorry but I'm just really tired of reading the "oh he's damaged goods/not his in his prime anymore" statements. Pacquaio is just too much for any fighter today.

There was never an offer put on the table between Top Rank and Mayweather to fight Cotto. Paul Williams wasn't really in the picture until he beat Margarito. Margarito was avoided by many people but after watching Shane beat his tail from start to finish I can't see Margarito ever beating Floyd. If Cotto wins then you will see Cotto vs Mayweather.

When you first make your campaign you have to prove yourself like Floyd did against Corley. Pac fought David Diaz at lightweight. Why not top rank Cambell like Baby Bull Diaz did. Bert Sugar's going a little bit mental in his old age. Aside from the Marquez/Mayweather prediction, I think he's way off saying it'll be Pacquaio's fight the longer it goes on. I think the exact opposite- The longer the fight goes on, the more Cotto will wear Pacquiao down with his strength and relentless aggression, like he did with Zab. All I'm saying is I expect Cotto to use his strength and power to impose himself on the fight over several rounds. take pacman off that list. take paul williams out as well cause he was on the come up when PBF started his welter weight campaign. mosley he challenged after the Vargas fight and Mosley declined. no money in fighting Clottey at the time. the fight he should have made was margarito and I do believe people avoided margarito so from your list, margarito is the only valid name you can say that PBF probably avoided. theres no way pacman is gonna beat cotto, as much as i like pacman, he just hasnt fought a genuine welter yet.. de la hoya was a shadow of himslef and a light welt ricky hatton, well is a naive fighter who saw he best days prior to mayweather, actually prior to collazo....
cotto will be too strong and clever for him, even a man with plaster of paris and a much stronger punch than pacman couldnt drop cotto, thank God he quit r he could have had he's eye socket smashed in.

nah, that's the first i ever heard of him mentioned in months.....
he could never fight cotto, he is retired since 97 and is/was light flyweight. he had a good win against pacman (ko rnd 3) but that was at 110 and this is 145 (welter 147), so to compare him to cotto wouldnt make a difference to modern boxing, as he was a different decade/weight.
