  • What kind of mallets are you using? They make the amazing song sound horrible!

    Watch out in the beginning!

  • What score did you make?

  • ok, I'm playing this for region band this year.....and there were a lot of missed notes and tempo issues

  • Are you using stevens or musser grip? it almost looks like a mixture!

  • @106384 Stevens and Musser grip are the same. I use the Burton Grip, because I learned Burton first. I can play Stevens as well. I suggest learning both, because you never know if at an audition they will ask you to play both!

  • i feel much more confident in learning this piece for region now that i watched this! you're great!

  • Wow, you're really good. I just got my 2011 region music, and this is my 4 mallet piece. I looked it up on a whim and found you! Thanks so much!

  • @joelx1234 hahaha. i'm glad to know that i'm not the only one that youtubes these things.

  • @joelx1234 actually, this isn't that good of a performance of this piece. There are a lot of issues

  • lol region piece for 2011

  • @paradiddlepedro let me gues... texas? me too haha region 7

  • @leonard03 make that three of us. (:

  • @letsnotfail what region?

  • thanx for putting this vid up! i'm playing it for my jury this semester...any advice?

  • During the triplet section start out quiet and kind of slow, then get louder and a little faster. Finally know this song so well that you can close your eyes and visualize the marimba and see every note in your mind. With this song i can actually play it without looking! One time during S&E, without realizing it, I looked up during my piece at the judge and he just happened to look up at the same time I just smiled at him and he started laughing a little! Like i said, just have fun with it!

  • I'm so pumped. I'm learning this for our Solo and Ensemble. Thanks for putting it up!

  • hay what kind of mallets are you using?

  • ENCORE 32AYR

  • Overall really good but the last octave notes you play are really flammy and not hit at the same time.

  • Nice job...I played this for Solo And Ensemble this year. The only thing I would suggest is working a little on your accuracy...there were times when it didn't flow as well as it could have...i can't tell what grip you are using, but it seems to work well for you...musically, i would start a little slower on the upper triplets and slowly get faster as you move down

  • Thank you for your comment! I really appreciate it! My brother actually played this to get his scholorship last year, then I went and played it for PAS. haha I'm 4 years younger than him!

  • haha me too, that is good advertising, you're good at that

  • very nice music. ( was directed here by sxephil's live show-- good use of advertising)
