I also grew up there and found plenty to do without getting into any trouble as a teen. I moved away a few years ago because I thought I needed a change. Moved to Las Vegas and now would give just about anything to move back :(
Very good video. Makes me want to get out more. :) You take this area for granted and don't appreciate. Some people who hate living here should leave. Their language shows what kind of person they are.
They made port orchard look better than it is. Bu the concerts at the pavillion down by the marina are cool. But the high school sucks. we need another one around here, its way too crowded in there.
@ThomasARoberts Thank you for your kind remarks. My son has been in North Chicago since March for Navy training and is really missing the Northwest, for good reason!
I was born in Spokane but this has become more of a home to me than any other place. I'm 20 now and love the rich history that this beautiful place has to offer. Like JeffWilliams92 has commented, if you do not like it here then get out.
What propaganda! I have lived here 10 years and Port Orchard DOES suck and there IS nothing to do (unless you want to get your nails done, get plowed, get a tatoo, or visit the local bail bonds business. Well, there is the Wal-mart. and Shari's restaurant...)
@5red5red Really? What does it suck. Or, maybe, you suck. I grew up there. Live in Vegas now, but wish more and more that I was back home. You don't like it...MOVE!

@5red5red Propoganda? It's all real people and places in the video, mate. Maybe you need to develop some interests. If your feet still work there are lots of great hikes, lakes, biking trails. Turn off the video games and start experiencing the world around you. Find a good cause and volunteer. Port Orchard has room for improvement, but the most important improvement comes from within.
I visited Port Orchard and I highly recommend taking a visit to a coffee place called Grinderfest Espresso. Grinderfest Espresso is some of the best coffee I've ever tasted. I'll visit Port Orchard just to taste the Grinderfest Coffee! thanks for the awesome video!
I always here people say Port Orchard sucks and there is nothing to do. Those people are crazy. I love it here. I like the weather, so much sight seeing. If you like the outdoors Port Orchard is where you want to be. Manchester being one of my favorite areas with the park and marina. You are close to Belfair which has Thelar swamp lands, then Bremerton and Silverdale are right down the road which have a bunch of more things to do. If you live in Port Orchard and dont like it, you need to get out
I moved here when I was 2. I am 13 now and I haved loved every minute of living in Port Orchard! And there are plenty of things to do, like sk8 town, or the Parades, or going on a boat ride, and many other things! There are also many good schools! And about drugs, any city can have them. Port Orchard does not supply them. Thank you so much for making this video!!
It sucks if youre not able to drive. Kitsap Transit isnt very reliable. Alot of drivers here do look down on those of us who try to find alternate forms of transportation to save money. Hobby Town USA needs to open a store here.We could use a good comic book shop, too.
How many times have you personally been assaulted, robbed or other? I never have in 40 some years. You could have been born in Badhdad, or south side of LA, or flat desert of Roswell, NM, so count your blessings. Life is what you make of it.
Go hike the Olympics, learn to water ski, fish, dig for clams, or take the ferry to Seattle. NO WHINERS ALLOWED!
I live in Port Orchard, and have my whole life. Its alright, having a boat helps. Way to many drugs here though. but over all, depending on where you live its a good place.
port orchard sucks haha so much its nick name is poor and tortured i have lived here for five years and it is not as glamourous as this video makes it look there isnt shit to do here fuck this town
Perhaps your attitude and own initiative play a role in your dissatisfaction. Life is what YOU make of it, and without that realization you won't be happy in any town. Start turning over some rocks... you'll find unexpected goodies. If all else fails, take the ferry to Seattle.
Well first of with 666 in your name I have to question your views anyway, but one point is simple, If you don't like where you live......Move. but for some reason I am thinking you'll find the next place you live the same. By the way if you do start looking inwards. If you are happy there, then it's a win for everyone.
I moved here ten years ago and love it. I enjoy it more that I do go to the festivals. Is it a perfect place? Of course not but it is a good place to visit and to raise a family. There are good sports programs, Scouting, church activities, bowling, movies, Skating, outdoors fun and when all else fails, Bremerton is 25 minutes away, Seattle is a little over an hour and Tacoma is 35 minutes away. If your bored... your not trying.
It's so easy to say "there is so much to do!" and much harder to live it. Those living in Port Orchard know about all the "stuff" in this video but it's not as consistent or endearing to people who live there, but to people visiting I'm sure it's a grand, beautiful place of adventure. Growing up in Kitsap blows.
What is there to do in PO for young people? Parents, aunts, uncles, older siblings need to be involved. You get out of life what you put into it. Learn to water ski (we have water), roller skate (we have a place), hike, backpack, learn photography, camp at Manchester Park (very close), join a local church youth group (social events and outings), explore interesting books at the library, volunteer at an interesting organization... you might earn a full time job. Serve others and fin purpose.
If you learned anything from your visit, you would realize how many blessings you have, and how privileged we all are. Your assignment is to go outside immediately and kiss the hallowed ground that is South Kitsap.
Port Orchard is a cool place to visit if your a family or your over 21( we have around 20 or so bars). but if you live here and you can't drink, your going to hate it.
There is more to do for young people than meets the eye if you dig a little, but you're right, we need more to cater to young people. Thanks for your comments.
I've lived here for 16 years of my life, I've dug quite a bit. There are so many drugs here it's ridiculous, I don't do them and there fore don't have much to do.
interesting video. I live in PO just outside the City limits. I hardly ever get to the numerous downtown festivals and only recently started seeing some of the plays at the playhouse. You could have mentioned some of the open mike places (coffee shop downtown) or karaoke places. Don't know why cosmos was so prominently shown and the 4th of July Celebration is a big thing amongst those with boats from the Seattle side who park and watch but many of us still light them off at home. Thanks
Thank you for your kind comments. I did find lots of new things to appreciate about our home town. It's a good idea to play tourist in your own back yard sometimes and find some roses among the blackberries.
I've lived here all my life, there is nothing to do i hate it here. All we do is go to the movies and go bowling during the winter and go to the beach/park during the summer. The towns lame, i want to move.
Attitude is a huge part of it. It's easy to hop the ferry to Seattle for the weekend. Bremerton is cool with the new fountain park. Local theater is actually quite entertaining. Life's what we make of it kiddo.
No, ask any kid under the age of 16 or anyone with out a car. Theres nothing to do because you have to drive everywhere unless you live in Olalla or Manchester.

Well done! Historically lacking, but it presents Port Orchard today, which I'm sure was your goal. I now live in 'Shores, but I graduated SK in '68 and can remember walking the planks at Horluck's Ferry Dock, watchin' the fireworks barge BLOW-UP in 1966, and trappin' rats under Peninsula Feed (on piles before it burned down. Yeah, you got it right. Congrats.
Thanks for your feedback. There was debate on how much history to include, as the target audience is visitors. Actually I just saw a Kenmore Air plane land yesterday. They don't do scheduled flights, but will gladly take folks there if they want. There's also a fair amount of private aircraft coming and going both Port Orchard and Bremerton marina.

I've done that! My best friend lives in Port Orchard and I had the chance to come and visit him from Utah in 2009.
The place is beautiful!
We loved riding the ferries from Seattle to Bremerton. We got to see plenty of cool and picture perfect places. One was Point No Point beach.
We hope to go back and visit again.
Thanks for putting this up, brought back some good memories.
