'Come see me' and 'Midnight to six man' put The Pretty Things right up there in the highest pantheon of 60's r n'b bands. Bought this in '66 and still play it regularly - can't beat the bass intro! Catch them at the 100 Club, London at the end of January 2009.
This song was the best selling single in Australia in 1981 when the riff got hijacked by New Zealand New Wave trio The Swingers for their sole hit "Counting The Beat" - check it out on Youtube.
100% agree. Best 60'band in that gerne. So much GRUNGE that I dont hear today. What a BLAST this band was. Maybe bad management or they were too hard to deal with ????? Nevertheles I loved them. Made Rolling stones look like choir boys.
thanks, London Boulevard, for bringing me here :)

The opening guitar is fucking dense! I love it!

The dislike is more technical in nature than musical. The recording is way too "hot", lots of distortion which doesn't need to be there.

it's more rawk than most things you hear today, the bass and guitar are rockin

vastly underrated. Got swept aside by the Stones and the Who...Just listen to this single and realise what a shame they didn't fare better.

I'm totally agree with you. One of the best ever Uk band. The bass intro is fantastic. But who played the piano, Nicky Hopkins?
