only in the 1960's and 70's were people stupid enough to demolish beautiful historic buildings. google the original New York Penn Station, and see what happened to it. it makes me sick.
@LordoftheKaty ... you are so correct. I was in my early 20's when dad and I went downtown to watch the implosion. I remembered as a kid my dentist office was on, I think, the 7th or 8th floor of this building and it still had elevator operators. The building that is standing there now has absolutely no beauty to it compared to the old Medical Arts Building. I miss it even to this day. Looking across Burkburnet park and not seeing what was there and seeing what is today is no comparison.
Thanks for the excellent footage! My dad was there at the implosion documenting it with his SLR. Such a wonderful structure, what a travesty it was to bring it down.
When I was a child, I went 2-3 times a week to get allergy shots here and remember a New Yorker book of cartoons in the lobby, where I learned to appreciate the humor of Charles Addams (The Addams Family) and James Thurber. Thanks for the memory!
Why couldn't they just build the Burnett Plaza elsewhere? That old building looked to be beautiful! Look up the Aviation Building, Fort Worth. That was a Fort Worth beauty they demolished too.
Look at the shit that replaced it... our current tallest building.

It looks like the video was shot with a circa 1940's camera....was it reel to reel or something?

elegance and beauty don't seem to have a place in texas.
Also you know there was a mass amount of asbestos in that place when it went down

@asbestosfiber ....and that includes the women, too.

@asbestosfiber Yes they do. There are more old skyscrapers restored in Fort Worth alone than were demolished.

How stupid destrying a historical building!
They could have convert it to apartments or hotel
I guess that was in the 70s when there was no regard for historical buildings

I think they built the Burnett Plaza(tallest in Fort Worth today)in its place. Im glad they did, I couldnt imagine our skyline without the Burnett.

I sure as hell can.
Burnett sucks.
