  • i Wouldn't touch an american van with a barge pole...

  • Hey, Lemme get behind the wheel! I bet I could flip it! XD

  • diesel?

  • In all van reviews the sprinter is always mentioned as being superior albeit more expensive.. Look up sprinter on wikipedia , the mexican police use a heavy duty version and excerpt " Mexican Sprinters feature heavier transmissions and can be fitted with a V-12 engine from the Mercedes S-Class for police and heavy duties."

V-12 see a chevy express do that. ford and chevy have not updated their vans for 18 years and 14 years respectively, and it shows .

you got the money get a sprinter.

  • @wildwindsca you dont know what your talking about

  • They sound like a bunch of Dodge dealership salesmen.

  • i miss ram van!!! DX

  • @GreenCacktus Ram van's tranny is probably 4-speed not 5 and mpg around 15.

  • The Dodge Sprinter is an underpowered pile of shit.

  • @SecularTechnology Sprinter has a choice of 254HP/250ib-ft V6 gas engine or a 3.0 litre 154HP/280 Ib-ft V6 diesel that would last so long no other van can drive of, and gets 20-25mpg.

It's the best van in America today if not on earth. The only thing I would change is the size. I prefer a smaller, lower, mini-van like cabin.

  • @Hesam0000

Don't make such moronic statements like that. It is by far the WORST American van. Take the Chevy Express for Example. 335 Hp, and 550 Lb. Ft Of torque. Makes the Sprinter look like a VW Bug.

  • @SecularTechnology It may look moronic to morons but to me horepower doesn't make the van great. What makes it great are durability, quality, space, ride, quietness, mpg, technology and long life. A van is not made to tow so extra horsepower is stupid, all it does is to cost you money in long family trips or while carrying stuff. Chevy Express has the technology of Yugo, durability of ant, 260HP/525 FAT 6.6Litre diesel engine with 10-12mpg & life of 200,000 miles max with bad transmission/AC.

  • @Hesam0000 you are so very incorrect it is sickening , i have had 3 chevy express vans i retired my first 1 with 670,000 miles with the origonal motor and tranny never had to do anything to it other then the obvious . 2nd one had 550,000 miles i retired it because of a wreck nothing ever wrong with it either . 3rd one i still have and has 300k miles and i had to replace the transmission because when i had my oil changed they drained my tranny fluid and it lasted 6k miles empty

  • @thatoneguyjosh Comparing a Chevy Express with a Sprinter is like comparing a mule with a horse. 1. Sprinter gets 20-22mpg Chevy with 6 litre gets 14mpg 2.Sprinter has lot more cargo room 3. Sprinter has no gas-engine maintenance 4. Sprinter is tall enough for a tall man to stand in If yours had 670K 7 550k why when I searched the autotrader for 2000+ Chevy express 4046 came out but only 2 with miles over 300k miles?!

Transmission lasted 6k miles empty?! O, man you're so full of it.

  • @Hesam0000 i work for a large delivery company ....sprinters are impossible to keep on the road ..we have 7 of them and only 3 are running right now and 2 of those just came out of the shop ....but the 9 express vans are there working everyday and despite the fact that i dont like the econoline ...they work just as hard

  • @thatoneguyjosh I searched autotrader for Sprinter, 139 came out in the US, with 5 over 300,000 miles. See the difference? 4046 chevy with 2 over 300k!

I'm sure your company's manager is ruining these Sprinters by either poor maintenance, overload or keeping them in the bad weather. I have a 1986 Mercedes with the same type diesel 3litre and at 245000 miles it looks and runs like new. I really like to see a Chevy express after 25 years and 245000 miles!

  • @SecularTechnology Do you really think Mercedes couldn't put a fat 7.0 litre 450HP 700 ib-ft torque, 10mpg diesel engine in this?!!! You think like HeeeeHaws.

  • When dodge and mercedes teamed up to build thid thing it a was a abomination that thing is UGLY!.

  • @dunn98632 It's not ugly. IT'S FUCKING UGLY. It looks like a cracker box that's cut up front and out of shape. Too square. It works well in European countries, but in America and Canada, that thing doesn't meet our driving needs and conditions.

  • Mercedes copied this design from the Ford Transit which is the number one selling full size van in Europe for over 40 years; the ford has a much higher reliability history than the Mercedes

  • @rocknrollohio I have owned both Transits & Merc Sprinters, the Mercedes is far more reliable, better build, better to drive but more expensive to buy & fix, but less likely to break in the first place!

  • @MegAndJas I spoke to a bunch of people who drive those and they say they're always broken. They're not that good as people think they are.

  • @alyr315

i own a mercedes sprinter 312, and it's 15 years old now, and i bought it 8 years ago, and it never let me down, and i always tow boxed trailers with it, so a total weight of 5000 and sometimes 6000kg on the road.

It's the best thing on wheels i ever had and still have, and i'm not planning to sell it, because this one is the oldest sprinter, and they have the biggest motor of al sprinters, except for the newest V6, and is the most reliable engine of all sprinters.

  • @3DPeter I saw two newer models with 2.7 litre engines for sale each with 440,000 miles. They're like the 80's Mercedes 300SD, SDL cars only with 5-speed transmission and lot more technology.

  • Tradesman better dodge the sprinter does not like

  • I've got over 414,000 miles on my 2005.

  • for about a year they were Mercedes in the us. if you open the hood you still see Mercedes logos everywhere. the actual Mercedes ones don't have all these safeties though

  • Did you all know that this is originally a Mercedes?? Google it!: Mercedes Sprinter. Here in Europe there called Mercedes Sprinter. They called it Dodge in the usa because mercedes had a big name in america and they are scared a van brings down the luxury of the brand Mercedes

  • Yeah, it's like a mid 1980's 300d or 300sd turbo diesel.Oh hell, to be honest, that engine first came from the Mercedes C-111 Diesel race car; that was 2700Ib, did 0-60 in like 6 seconds and all that crap top speed 211MPH and got 15MPG doing 195mph all in the late 1970's. The c-111 tore the shit out of all the other cars it was racing just from shear fuel economy, Less fillups, faster time LOL!!! I have an old mercedes book that shows it all, LOL!

  • No it's not the one in this movie is from 2005 or something, and the generation before that was from 1997-2003

  • Actually Freightliner started building these before Dodge did here in the US and they also called it the Sprinter.

  • its obvious :P but u are tottaly right too!. its like the saturns are actually vauxhauls or opels.. well some

  • IIRC its stilla merc. IDK if these are BUILD my MERC or DODGE. can anyone fill me in on that part?

  • give one to my dad he'll roll it. he rolled my moms camry

  • lol, hahaha! Heck give it to me, I'll roll it. I almost roll my Chevy hightop conversion van every day only doing 25mph around that sharp turn I take. I can sort of feel the speed it takes for it to turn over and always stay 5-10mph under it. It's impossible for that Sprinter to not turn over, all it takes it a certain speed and a quick turn.

  • really, all that does is it doesnt allow you to accelerate while the wheel is turned, and the farther the turn the less power you get. theres tons of rolled sprinters on the internet, but id hate to see it happen, i love sprinters

  • hw have several in our fleet and hey stand up pretty good.. the harmonis balancers go out pretty quick but other than that they are good.

  • Yeah, it IS kinda hard to roll something at 15mph...

  • This is the reason I bought a sprinter. There's a really twisty road a few miles away from where i live and it's so much fun just throwin' my van around like it'll roll. It won't at all. I also put bigger rims and tires on it and it ain't goin' nowhere. It handles like a porsche.

  • i rolled a sprinter once

  • i can flip it going about 100 km/hr!!!!! no stability control can stop that!

  • I'll get my helmet, you give me the keys, and I'll roll it for ya :-)

  • i love driving sprinters, i drive them at work all the time, their kinda fast

  • I rolled one. Try doing 80 and haveing a stupid driver pull out in front of you. I rolled it 3 times. Not fun. It was a 2007.

  • one of my drivers rolled his end over end 3 times... broke his collarboke..

  • Dam that sucks. Hope hes O,K,.

  • I want one now :S..

  • @ zollo

to keep a long story short, european cars, vans and trucks are the best in the world, and you know it.

  • well the German ones...the compact ones suck ass but for the most part i agree

  • @ zollo

American cars are fast in a straight line,

but worthless in corners, and that's because you prefer comfort above handeling. The next thing is that european cars do way more miles to a gallon, and they are loaded with the latest electronic stuf witch makes sure that even a moron can drive it safely at 100mph.

  • How dare Daimler try to pass this euro trash "van" off as the replacement for an American legacy in vanning.

  • if you cross the border and go to south america you will see european vans, cars trucks only not american and a few japanese the same thing happens everywhere.American cars and vans are gas guzzling things (if you compare them to european and japanese)

  • I own a Renault Trafic Diesel it has a 4 cylinder 2.2 liter diesel engine and you can load up to 1550 kgs.

  • No offence but american design vehicles are trash that's why they are sold only in united states

    Greetings from Argentina

  • I am a big American car fan, but the Ford and Chevrolet offerings for cargo vans are severely outdated.

  • True.

  • Strange looking van, but interesting technology. Is this van strictly going to be a work/cargo type van or will they be using these as a base for a everyday family type van as well?

  • It could be a replacement for the 15 passenger Ford E-Series. Remember how the 15 passenger E-Series rolled over due to its shorter wheelbase?

  • I think ALL 15 passenger vans should be replaced by Sprinters with stability control. Even the Sprinters in he video were 2 rear wheel setups. We have Sprinters at work (although they are 06's but they do have dualie rear wheels). They are very stable. Try hard enough under the right circumstances you could roll it. It also didn't help Ford - and Dodge back then - to extend the back of the van, causing a back heavy situation, raising the front of the van, one hard turn and Boom- rollover)!

  • They're only driving like 35-40 mph, I doubt they could roll it that way.

  • yea, they were only driving that fast because the car would only let them go that fast, he said he was flooring it, the car wouldnt let him go any faster

  • yea!!

  • soo it wont roll over no matter what? lets try Scandinavian Flick by Tiff Needles haha

  • I have the panel van - Ive just got myself a new Grille kit for mine from MercedesSprinterConversions com - it is so cool - I cant wait to put it on, they seem to have the cheapest prices around for al conversions items - any dodge sprinter owner should check it out!

  • Cool man :) MB grill looks much better!

  • This might be the best veichle in their line-up, of course it is a Mercedes....

  • Its not because its the Doge Sprinter on the video so its not the Mercedes Sprinter

  • Dodge Sprinter= Mercedes Sprinter. These vehicles were IMPORTED by Dodge. Mercedes has been producing the Sprinter since the 90s, well before we even thought about bringing it over here. Search for it on wikipedia if you don't believe me.

  • We truly need it here as fuel prices keep going up. Nobody I've asked who owns one, or drives one for a living, reported less than 22 mpg! The highest repoted was 27 MPG on an 2006 5 cyl.

  • @rallyedoug My 2007 UK spec returns an average of 32 mpg driving sensibly, drive it hard & get it down to 25 mpg, main difference between UK & US spec is most (all?) US models are automatics, we use manuals (stick shifts I believe you Americans call it)

  • Take a test drive of our SRT Charger with a 6.1 HEMI!

  • @sleeksilver all it needs is an AMG badge :P

  • @DUSHANMANGRUE No no, not unless AMG can soup-up turbo-diesels. The best part of this van is the diesel engine.

  • Why?

  • Well, Dodge reps like myself wondered how best to respond to concerns over stability. I wanted to see for myself if all the hype about ESP really held up in a real world test. And yes it did! This video truly demonstrates that the customer's fears, as well as my own lingering concerns over instability, are completely unwarranted. It performed above and beyond my own expectations.

  • It's not that the vehicle's not unstable, it's that they've installed a stability control system to keep someone from rolling the van.

Turn off the stability control on that van and turn loose a bunch of lead footed amateurs and see if we wouldn't have video of Sprinters sliding on their sides. It's a great vehicle, but people should understand what's going on.

  • I don't know how they do it in Europe, which has more cornering than here. I take it that the ESP remains on everytime there.
