  • Love the sound :)

  • 370Z Better..Stronger....Faster? yes but that's a stupid jap car good only for "fast and furious" stupid assoles, no elegance at all !

power isn't everything in a car!

  • @temporanea1973 That statement would have been so much better without the insults.

370Z better..stronger...faster? Maybe, but its a Japanese car made for tuners a la "fast and furious". It lacks the Porsche's elegance.

A statement i don't disagree with but honestly it always comes down to 2 things, what you like and what you can afford. If a Z is what you can afford its a very cool car with a lot of bang for the bucks. But if money isn't a problem, Porsche all the way.

  • This has been my dream car since I purchased my Boxster.

  • Warning! Do NOT test drive a Porsche, unless you are ready to buy it IMMEDIATELY, because the day you sit in the car, and rev the engine, and drive it, you will be hooked forever. You won't be able to eat, sleep or work, until you get that car.Oh, and by the way, your face is going to hurt too, from smiling too much! (My car dealer let me test drive it for 2 hours, and I was hooked) You've been forwarned!!

  • @beginnerkeys - i'm test driving mine tuesday.. black 2010 cayman s. thanks for the warning.

  • that cayman can invade my yard anytime XD

  • Why this greenish color it destroys the looks of one of the most beautiful cars of all time

  • This car has better handling than each! 911. Because it weights some 100 kg less than the 911 (exclusion GT3 RS ) and its a middle-engine concept as the Carrera Gt is! Very cool and drivable car, much cheaper than its big brother. Absolutely stunner in orange :-P

  • Where is this recorded? Kinda looks like Spain...

  • Cayman - easily better looking than a 911. Retains masculinity and aggresive looks, the Boxster is too girly in my view.

  • I LOVE THIS CAR! I CANT WAIT TILL ITS 12 O'Clock SO I CAN GO OUT SIDE AND BE ALONE WITH ME AND MY PORSCHE!!!

  • Fuel efficiency is porsche cayman the best ! if i drive the cayman easy,like a normal car i got , 8,6L - 100 . Shifting about 2500 every gear .

  • Wise choice, the 370Z IS a bit harsh.. it looks great though, but even a die hard Z fan like me chose the Cayman S... now, there is no going back.. had to have Manual though.. even tho it's 0.00001 of a second slower lol

  • Art Work

  • WoooooooooooooW

  • No machine had ever sparked lust in my heart until the Porsche Cayman.

  • dude i drove the 2008 black lastngiht - as soon as i took it out one guy honks (in a bmw roadster) i stop and he stops and hes like wow what a nice car good for you - forget all that - This is one SEXY CAR OMG fo'real like - the booty of the car the interior oMG this CAR Is incredible and throws you in the back of the seat everytime

  • lol, too bad it wasnt the 2009, it only got better with the Dopplekuppling

  • guys.. i need help... coz between a boxster s or cayman s that is 3.5 L and has a 6 cylinder boxer 6, which is more fuel efficient? CAYMAN or BOXSTER S or........ a 350Z that is 3.5L V6? coz i want a more practical efficient car but a fast car. :D

  • @VR46champion if your worrying about fuel efficiency, you shouldn't be buying a $60,000 vehicle.

  • I can't even come close to affording one of these but I do recall reading that Walter Rohrl thinks it's the best thing Porsche does and if I'm going to trust anyone's opinion on what a good car ios, especially a Porsche, I think it'd be Walter's.

  • I have a feeling that the Cayman exploits an invisible market: the number of guys who want a super hot car, but with enough cargo space to pack luggage for a weekend romantic getaway for two.

The 911 has 4.75 cubic feet; the Cayman has (boot and bonnet) 14.5.

So, unless you want to strap a roof box on a prime sports car, there's no choice but the Cayman. It's like a 911 for people who need some space for luggage...which the 911 does NOT have!

Just for that one reason, I'd never have a 911.

  • cayman S is smooth as silk I will have to agree XD

  • love this cayman

  • my dad bought one exactly like this! at the Porsche dealership we were looking at the cars then we walked by the cayman and he stopped, stared at it for a second, then said "it looks like a frog, ill take it!"

  • I Bought the Cayman S!!! There is no going back now.. It's as smooth as can be, aggressive mid range punch from that gorgeous sounding flat 6 engine!!

    And a quality leather interior!

  • LUCKY SON OF A

    man hows it feel??

  • the new bmw m3 is like 10k less, way more powerful, has more seats and comes with that new free maintanence plan.

  • yes, the new M3 sounds good...but its not a Porsche lol

  • This is truly a drivers car.

  • some 911 owners have converted to the Cayman, while others are shaking who havent made the transition. Yes, the Cayman isnt a 911, but the Engineers held back not to knock the 911 off its throne and they admit this in writing. If the engineers were given full throttle on the Cayman, the 911 would be playing backup. I say, why hold back a great car? give it full potential and let it do what Porsche cars were ment to do...thats excite!

  • And to that I say the Cayman bests the 911. Power isn't the ultimate thrill, it's the mixture of having the power to control it at what feels like an asymptotic limit whilst having the most fullfilling thrills the car has to offer. The SDK is amazing I might add.

  • Yes, power isnt everything, id rather car thats fun to drive and offers another trunk while wearing a Porsche badge AND could take a 911 any day of the week. Alot of people see the Cayman/Boxster as "wanna be" Porsches or Poormans 911...but in reality the smarter buyer gets either 1 of those.

  • @DTHPRF66 I think that it was built just to fill a gap in the market and if it was not held back it would be an amazing car instead of a truly great car!

  • Actually, it was restricted of its full potential. Because if the engineers took off their white gloves and got down to the nitty gritty, the Cayman S would throw a curve balls all day long at the 911's thus striking them out. Now, from Porsches stand point, this COULDNT be allowed, since the Cayman is the newie and the 911 is the definition of what a sports car is for decades. To me, the Cayman was held back of its purpose. With proper tuning, the 911, i believe, couldnt stand a chance

  • @DTHPRF66 So your saying if i go out and buy a Porsche Cayman S and tune it up to its full potential it will be better than a 911?

  • Yes i believe that, and so do alot of other people who have traded in 911's to KEEP Cayman's. The car was held back from its full potential and thats in writing from engineers

  • Apples and oranges mate......there is a reason it's 10k less!

  • but it doesnt look beautiful as this...

  • so?

  • you know, i'm a porsche fan not a porsche driver. I have a 2006 TT 350z and I appreciate what it is for the money. It's why I would compare the new M3 coupe to the cayman s. Although I would prefer a cayman s I honestly don't think it's quiet the bargain. I'd still rather get the new 370Z, throw a supercharger or turbo on it and still have what? 30k left over if i was on the market for the cayman S brand new? I'll just admire the cayman S from the distance hows that? Im not rich.

  • No I can completely understand money being an object. The 370 no doubt has a great personality and enjoy's being pushed around and considering it's about 40k less than the Cayman SDK- I'll definitely say it is the best for its price group.

  • for the amount of the 370Z plus a supercharger and other upgrades, you can just get a Cayman S...maybe not a brand new one, but a better-then-decent one with good miles

  • fake

  • my dad and mom are arguing over whether to buy it or not, post a comment giving me advice

  • tell them to save their money, youll thank me when you get their inheritence

  • Tell them to buy it...You'll thank em even more when you get the keys!

  • Go read some reviews and stop posting on youtube

  • Go to the Porsche Website and site them down. Click Broadband on the right. Make them watch the whole video, they'll say yes. I promise.

  • buy it...you only live once, drive a Porsche before you leave this planet!

  • my dad is thinkin of buying the porsche cayenne GTS =)

  • Oh, that's a shame. My condolences.

  • @DTHPRF66 Thats exactly what a Porsche salesman told me to tell to my dad when we were test driving a boxster... Of course my dad loved the boxster sooo much and equally as much with the Cayman and the 911. So of course he bought an SLK! Sometimes I think the best decision is to make the worst decision.

  • @DTHPRF66 i write it on my to do list =)

  • @cheakiter forget about a paperlist, write it in stone!

  • CAYMAN S-THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can i has pliz?

  • that's for sure

  • anyone thinks the headlights look weird now? I like the non- facelift better

  • what are you saying man the facelift is much more better than the old sick headlamps and rea lamps

  • yeah i think a little weird, but i think that's only because they have to keep the cayman just SLIGHTLY ugly to stay away from the 911.

  • This thing is nicer looking than the 911,

  • @beyondonethousand idk dude i still love the 911 series the body is shorter but still got a smoother look to it not sayin the caymen s isnt bad it jus looks longer but overall id pick an aston martin db9 over the caymen s the martin has a much slicker look to it but way more expensive than the porche which is a let down to some!

  • @colemister12345

DB9 is in another class of machine. Astons are quite exclusive. That drives the cost up. At least the Cayman S is "affordable".

  • the cayman is still prity damn good looking though =D

  • As nice as this car is, how can it even begin to compete with e M3, especially when the M3 is actually a bit cheaper.

  • Apples compared to oranges. BMW is a sedan with a front engine. to me its not a sports car either, its a sport sedan, Porsche Cayman is a mid engined sports car.

  • The M3 is mainly a coupe, but with a 4 door version. It's also considered to be the benchmark sports car that reviewers and people in general compare every non-exotic sports car to. It is generally considered to be one of the best handling cars in the world, if not in pure lap time, then in driving feel. It also has 100 more hp than the Cayman S and is a few thousand dollars cheaper. I personally like the Cayman more, I'm just saying the M3 wins on paper.

  • I can respect that.

  • PERFECT CAR

  • I think the 370z and 997 are both out now.. It's a fight between spyder rs60 Boxster (second hand) £40K and Cayman 3.4 Direct injected 320 bhp... Configured to my spec (white with red Cayman S stripes and 19 inch carrera sport wheels in silver) £52K

  • I test drove 2 different Caymans..303 bhp S and new 320 BHP S.. Great cars both, 320 bhp has better torque low down.. Strangely enough I wasn't that impressed.. I will try out a 997 carrera over the coming days and then 370Z Nissan when it comes out in the Uk later this year.. Still not sure what to get yet.. you can buy a 997 for £35,000 now with rel. low mileage. Decisions eh!

  • you shouldn't even consider the 370z. I am however because of the price, but if you can afford the cayman; dry sump oil! mid-engine! waaay more aero-dynamic! direct injection (370z might have that i forget), and the looks are Porsche. a carrera would be legendary also....

    good luck :)

  • there´s no "real" dry sump in the Cayman. They call it "integratet Dry Sump" Porsche doesn´t allow Slicks on the car for that reason. But you are right, Cayman is the better Car.

  • I think I read that also, perhaps it's "integrated" meaning they couldn't fit the separate reservoir away from the block?

And about the slicks, I'm assuming you are talking about tires right? Are you saying the slicks will provide so much grip in turns that it will starve the engine of oil? That is a rediculous statement!

  • Ahm, you know that this is one of the main reasons to have a dry sump? Without a dry sump if you have to much g-force on the track it´s possible that your oil pump just sucks air, and then the engine will fail. And that´s exactly what could happen to the old "integrated dry sump" engines in a 996/997 pre FL.

    Ridiculous, yeah!

  • so, you are saying that porsche engines are not designed for high cornering forces?

what about the corvette (not z06) with it's wet sump?

what about the mitsubishi evo that everyone puts 500whp into?

are you saying without a dry sump you can't turn or your engine will break?

the only reason i entertained you with a comment is because i thought you knew what u were talking about, I guess you don't. Yeah dry sump is more for racing but wet still works.

  • OK, you win, you know what you are talking about. Maybe you should share your wisdom with those guys that have a broken Porsche Watercooler engine exactly for that reason. Or maybe you should tell the porsche technicans who say that slicks are not allowed on those cars.

Well..i think it´s worthless to tell you anything more, cause you just don´t want to belive, so belive whatever you want, and don´t care about the people that know something.

  • Guys, those of you who have compared a Z to a porsche really have no idea. I implore you to drive a cayman S before even commenting, I currently was that impressed and I drive professionally that I have ordered one. The 2009 is currently been said to be the "Best sports car in the world by professional drivers" Search on Youtube "New 2008 porsche Cayman" by Autocar. It is the bench mark of two seater sports cars.

  • I believe the engine is mid mounted.

  • nice new brand cayman car.. its really good looking out there.. but i have the g37s... and i like my car sooo much

  • I drove some 80's and 90's right hand drive Porsche 911's and ended up with chronic cramp in my legs! Pedals were offset so badly it was beyond a joke..

  • No, it's a front engined GT car with over 300 Bhp.. 326+ to be exact with carbon fibre propshaft and carbon composite driveshafts.. hell the Cayman only just got a limited slip diff for goodness sakes.. And you can't drift a cayman like you can a Z.. Cayman is bound to be slightly better poised, but not £17,000 better.... 911 has always been the best porsche if you ask me... and still is.

  • I have a nissan 350z and I love driving it.. Porsches look the same as they did many years ago. The interior isnt that much better than the 370z and I find it a tad on the plain and boring side.. things have moved on,, stop this badge snobbery nonsense once and for all... Everything costs so much more with a porsche and to be totally honest I use my z on weekends only for a nice blast on open roads.. you probably wouldn't even notice the difference in perfomance unless it was on a race track.

  • You pay for the brand's legendary track pedigree and the company's ability to infuse intangible qualities into its sports car line such as driver-car connection, road feel, balance, handling, etc. Comparing a Porsche to most other brands is like comparing apples to oranges; you'll find other performance cars boring when you have had the pleasure of connecting with a Porsche.....

  • i would've liked to see a hot lap, instead of this drive by stuff.

  • Porsche have made the "coxster" what it should have always been, a properly fast car.

  • Nissan 370Z is more modern and aggressive.. Porsches are old fashioned and over priced.

Not swayed in the least.. and yes I can afford a Cayman.

  • We all knew that you can afford one... But personnally, I have never seen someone saying a porsche is old-fashioned especially when a GT3 is passing in front of him.. I must live in an old-fashioned region.

  • Overpriced yes. The Nissan is more modern and aggressive than the updated Cayman? The Z is a great car, but it is not a mid0engined flat-6 with over 300 bhp and it is a Porsche. Just say the Nissan is great. This Porsche is probably nicer. You can't drive either one to its fullest capacity in public anyway so who cares?

I myself would never buy a new Porsche. The are too obscene with pricing? e.g. xenon headlights are a $1550 option? You can get a GTI for $23K and they are standard?

  • clearly you have never driven a Porsche.

  • You know nothing about Porsches and apparently know NOTHING about cars. Chances are, you're like 14 yrs. old with that logic.

The 370z is nothing compared to a Porsche. Just leave >_>

  • new Z is priced under 30k base...so i do agree the 370z is a nice car, especially for the price, just looking at the stats u can see the cayman is gonna be a lil faster, but it is also more expensive so it should be faster, handle better and be more luxurious its just logic

  • I test drove a 370Z, and it still has a cheap-looking interior, no headroom and (at least in the model I tested) a really annoying high-pitched whine coming from the back of the cabin. It's a lot cheaper than the Porsche for a reason, in my opinion, and I've crossed it off my list. Saving for a Cayman S.

  • Beautifully made.. But I have to settle for a Nissan 370Z will be just as quick and much cheaper.

  • dass wir werden sehen, was mein Freund;)

  • and far less classy ! please do not compare a porsche with a nissan :s

  • ...and you will not get the driving experience nor the luxury you will get from a Porsche.

People have commented that even driving the new M3 feels exciting, but driving a Porsche is a whole different story. You feel like you are part of the car.

  • i love 2

  • I LOVE THE PORSCHE CARS!!!
