Why in the hell are you going to release that back in your neighborhood? Your neighbors are really going to love you for that. Take it out into the county and release it there and then shoot it.
If the trap is is for nocturnal animals then it should not have any screen on the trap or an easy way to cover it up so it is dark. It will keep the animals calm if they can’t see you. Next you may want to work out a way to release the animals where you can be 30 to 50 feet behind the trap.
@beautifulthumbellena Depending on what state you live in, you can get a pet skunk from a licensed breeder. They're a lot tamer than wild skunks and they come de-scented, so they can't spray.

@LastBornProductions That's just my policy on unwanted wildlife. Likewise if a dog or cat attacked me or one of my loved ones it would get put down before it could attack someone else. That said if skunks were roaming my neighborhood I would not try to provoke confrontations with them. I would feel uncomfortable with their presence though and if they get onto my property they're going for a nice long ride to a wilderness area, which is where they should be anyway.

@happyninslave But I do defend your and anyone else's right to either relocate unwanted animals (like skunks, opposums, or raccoons) squatting on your property if you prefer, or to send them to their afterlife. I would however suggest to those in favor of relocation (like myself) that you relocate them as far away from any human habitations as possible, if your state's laws allow this. They need to be in the wilderness anyway. And we don't need them roaming free in our cities and towns.

Dude, tons of people have skunks for pets. Not to mention anything can carry rabies. Dogs, cats, even fluffy little bunny rabbits can get rabies. Plus skunks usually are more afraid of you then you are of them and avoid people. Inless you go up to them and piss them off or scare them they tend to be fairly alright and wont bother you any.

This past summer I was taking a walk in the woods and a huge skunk walked out of the bushes five feet from me. I was terrified at his close proximity but he didn't even seem to notice me! haha he just kept going on his merry way.
i feel sorry for skunks, ppl always get that "it's gonna spray me instantly" thought when encountering one. not their fault, i'd hate to get sprayed, but theyre actually cute (when not digging thru ur trash at midnight lol). unlike bees, their cute to play with WHILE packing a potent defense mechanism when bothered. bees just sting when bothered.

A dog will bite you if it thinks you're enough of a threat, and can even kill you if it bites you enough. And yet we still keep them as pets.
Yet a skunk, which can at worse spray you and cause pain and total sensory overload, is treated as a threat and a pest.
My Grandma used to care for a bunch of wild little skunks when she was in Pennsylvania. They'd come out of the woods behind her house and eat the catfood she left out for them, and they even let her pet them. Never once was sprayed.

they are adorable. I find it so annoying that people think they "carry" rabies, they do not carry it, they can get infected with it and if they do they can transmit it, but then they die from it. Same goes for raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and everything else. It is unfortunate that they cannot confirm the disease without a brain biopsy :(
I have come to the aid of skunks twice: they will NOT spray, as long as you're gentle and non-aggressive. They sense this. But it's best to leave them in the wild; unless one is injured or seriously hurt. There's many wildlife rescue centres across the United States and Canada that will help skunks.

Yes, I have 2 pet skunks. As for where to get them, you have to check with your state Department of Natural Resources. Some states in the US do not allow pet skunks. As a matter of fact, Georgia (my state) outlawed them in January 2008. I am grandfathered in but once my two boys pass away, I will not be able to get anymore. If your state does allow them, the best place to order a baby from is Ruby Farms in Iowa.

This past summer I was taking a walk in the woods and a huge skunk walked out of the bushes five feet from me. I was terrified at his close proximity but he didn't even seem to notice me! haha he just kept going on his merry way.

i feel sorry for skunks, ppl always get that "it's gonna spray me instantly" thought when encountering one. not their fault, i'd hate to get sprayed, but theyre actually cute (when not digging thru ur trash at midnight lol). unlike bees, their cute to play with WHILE packing a potent defense mechanism when bothered. bees just sting when bothered.

My goodness they are cute! I have ferrets and their face looks similar to them. They are from the same family as ferrets (mustiledae) and are related to weasels.

A dog will bite you if it thinks you're enough of a threat, and can even kill you if it bites you enough. And yet we still keep them as pets.
Yet a skunk, which can at worse spray you and cause pain and total sensory overload, is treated as a threat and a pest.
My Grandma used to care for a bunch of wild little skunks when she was in Pennsylvania. They'd come out of the woods behind her house and eat the catfood she left out for them, and they even let her pet them. Never once was sprayed.

they are adorable. I find it so annoying that people think they "carry" rabies, they do not carry it, they can get infected with it and if they do they can transmit it, but then they die from it. Same goes for raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and everything else. It is unfortunate that they cannot confirm the disease without a brain biopsy :(

I have come to the aid of skunks twice: they will NOT spray, as long as you're gentle and non-aggressive. They sense this. But it's best to leave them in the wild; unless one is injured or seriously hurt. There's many wildlife rescue centres across the United States and Canada that will help skunks.

Yes, I have 2 pet skunks. As for where to get them, you have to check with your state Department of Natural Resources. Some states in the US do not allow pet skunks. As a matter of fact, Georgia (my state) outlawed them in January 2008. I am grandfathered in but once my two boys pass away, I will not be able to get anymore. If your state does allow them, the best place to order a baby from is Ruby Farms in Iowa.
