@bigrobsydney the controversy here is that the engines were EJ20G overbored to the 22liter bore,. with EJ20K heads. OR that they are in fact EJ22G. Some say they had their own designation, some say they didn't.
if you could picture the casting numbers on the block (and heads) that would be AWESOME.. the numbers are just below and behind the alternator on the block and the heads are just to the inside of where the intake bolts on to the head (might need a boroscope for this one)
@ironhydroxide2 I understand they are an ej22 as opposed to a bored ej20, but I dont know the exact details. If you head over to the 22B website, you'll find a lot of technical information, along with a great community of people who will answer far more than I know about. They are at bbs.22b.com - make sure to say hello!
hmm a turbocharged boxer engine producing 350hp and 267ft/lbs of torque, running 13 second quarter miles, yep that sure is a standard amongst cars these days...
yea but if it brakes fix it. it needs to be used for what it was built for. who cares about resale you would be a dipshit if you were to sell it anyway.
hey man how much would a 22b cost me overall since its my dream car and i live in the u.s. i just want to keep a price in my so wen i get a profesional job i can save for one. right now the closest i can get to having one is by buying the rs 2 door. but how much would a 22 b cost .?
Hi Mate. There are a lot of them for sale in the UK, asking prices tend to be around 20-25,000 pounds. Shipping is easy - excess listed here were great.
I dont know what the situation is for you in your US state, with repect to right hand drive vehicles?
I'm sure there are US companies that could convert it for you.
@bigrobsydney Spot on with your comments mate as i was gonna reply with the same figures untill i noticed yours. But what i dont get is that if its no.301 that means it was imported from Japan, so how has it got M.P.H and total milage on the speedo if he didn't change anything?I have just moved to Cairns and im importing my Impreza P1 out next month, it's slightly quicker than the 22b but doesn't have the same appeal.
@vertine11 It was imported from Japan to the UK, where it was converted from kph to mph. I bought it in the UK in October 07, and then shipped it to Australia in January 09, where the conversion was removed / reversed, using Alan Palmer out near Penrith, Sydney.
The P1 is a great car, best of luck with the import process, I'm sure it'll be smooth.
@bigrobsydney Oh right its your car is it, nice mate! Yeh hopefully it'll go smoothly. I've already imported a Nissan Navara 4x4 and my girlfriends 206 gti but i need to keep the British plates on untill my residency comes through. Everything is worth so much more over here :)
@crabzy well i would have thought with 350bhp they would have alot better performance figures as the WR1 pisses over it and its only 316bhp! Pretty sure they were all 276bhp
@crabzy just google wr1 and 22b performance and you'll see the difference! wr1 0-100mph 10.8 secs and 1/4 mile 12.8. And its nothing to do with insurance - the japs wernt allowed to make cars producing over 280bhp for their market cos of the gentlemen's agreement which ment they made the jap 22b's 276bhp and wanted them all with the same figure. Trust me they are not 350bhp!
@vertine11 Yes, they're 276 bhp. I've seen a Fifth Gear vid where Tiff suggests more, but they've been measured on a dyno at 276.
They have about 20 more NM of torque than an STI, and the real kicker is in the JDM final drive ratio of 4.444:1, making it very accelerative (UK model was 3.9:1).
I've seen a web page many years ago of a 1/4 mile time of 12.5 seconds, and 0-100kph of 3.9, but AWD can be notoriously difficult to get off the line due to bogging down RPMs.
its a 22b jap one thow , it ok clean but under the bonet its not that bad need bit of work doing to it but still ok :) dad has 2 of the uk ones :) fast as m8
it is not a 22b. only 400 22b's are made throughout the world. it looks similar in body and engine... here is a link of a real 22b and they are collector;s item.. it looks u r new to wrx but thats fine..all wrx are fast but a 22b is a beast..it goest to 12000 rpm and oly cuts at 10000 rpm standards sti 22 b tuned based on the actual wrc...
hahaha it is a 22b m8 as i said my dad had 2 of them they cut out at 8200rpm lol 1000rpm lol i no 400+ was made and 16 UK ones so i anit new to the wrx my dad has 16 other subarus before his 22b so i think i no alot about 22bs :) and that is a 22b m8 and u can tell from the diff and the doors so mm8 its a 22b :) but its a jap 22b :)
well by the sound of it it looks like the downtune the 22 b thy sent to UK. i give you the benefits of the doubt if you still maintain its a 22b. to convince entirely the guy should have the video on the dash or where the shift is to get the serial 22b 301/400
..all 22b should have that serial no matter if it in africa or pomy land or down under...
Damn, she's hot, I meant the insurance lady

do you still have this? or do you know anyone who does have a 22B? I am curious about the engines... a lot of controversy about them going around.

Nitinio, in case you missed it, the car was in London. The UK does not use kilometers per hour, it uses miles per hour.
