i wish i could train you 2 i dont think their is any diferance between women and men its all about the trainer allot of these guys see good looking chicks and they try to get in your pants not teach you how to drive thats a big problem
Like this I am a mom now that was a trucker and proud of it will be one day back out in my dream truck doing what I know now that I love. Thanks for the video if I could be out there with the sisterhood of drivers I would in a heartbeat but my kids needing me here and being a bus driver will have to get me through!!!
@4mydadinmo Thanks for the comment... Yep, it sure is hard when you have kids still in school to be out on the road. Glad to know you are still driving ... not sure I could do the school bus thing myself... takes courage! YIKES!
I LOVE what you are doing with your videos!! Every time I get into a discussion about driving I tell people I trust the truckers more than the Class C drivers around me when in traffic. Most truly do not understand a truckers world. From what I am reading in your video, I guess I WAS as easy going as I was told. No preconceptions, no gripes. Why are women drivers always called female, instead of women? You got me hooked on your videos now. Your educated, I always like that.
@whiteribbonman1 Thank You for watching and appreciating these videos. The women truck drivers are diverse and I tend to gravitate toward those who are more laid back and calm rather than those who want to compete with the Men & make excuses for the bad apples. A good man does not compete with a Woman or try to berate her or engage in power trips with her. Women who understand this premise don't waste valuable time & energy playing that game.
@Rickway65 Thanks for watching, The purpose is to help new drivers get a more realistic view of what trucking will be. There are plenty of "Tough Guys & Gals" that can handle the truck... it's the hidden BS that usually derails them for being sucessfull. So that is the mission here... tell it like it is.... be prepared
Desiree don't you stop what your doing. for any one.theres a lot of men out there that have a hell of a lot more experience than the both of us..and they will not stand up for this industry.one of the biggest reason the public look so down on the trucking is because of the press.I'am glade to see some one with the guts, to stand up and speak out about the truckingand if I c an be of help let me know
@mogges1 Thanks! When a lady writes to me to say she just graduated & is out on her own truck now & these videos helped them. it makes it all worth it..... We got a new breed of women hitting the roads.... I feel good knowing they know a thing or two more about the shady trucking executive part of this industry & what life is really like on the road
Wow finally some decent women drivers besides my mother and my wife. I was a driver trainer and screw that too many stupid people and hardheads. Ill stay a team with my wife or solo and i hate to say it but most females drivers i see are making the stupidist decisions whether in a personal vehicle or rig. Not saying all and not saying thetes not alot of stupid ignorant guys but the WORSE i have seen driving have been women especially when u give them a cell phone lmao. No multi tasking skills.
@jeremiahch12 I love that you said both your Wife & Mother are great drivers! Yes, there are many very good, drivers but often they keep such a low profile because they do not want any trouble they remain unseen. My Project here is to give a platform to these Women who have been expected to "Serve in Silence" so that they can say what is on their minds. The public wants sexy female truckers & they exist but they also VALUE Safety both Personal & otherwise
I am a female too and although I don't have plans to persue trucking, I have a lot of respect for women who do. I have a lot of respect for any woman who is willing to take on an untraditional job and it has definately been a pleasure viewing your videos.
@ThePeterbilt1979 There are female heavy haulers but generally women truckers keep a low profile. I spoke to female who pulls bulk tankers of hazardous chemicals the other day & she commented how sensitive her cargo is and that male drivers who call her out on the CB with her location do her harm they may not realize by defining her location and that she is driving solo. She has very specific areas she can park & this creates a security risk for her personally and the chemicals.
@mobrownable78 Thanks for commenting. I am glad they are helping people. This week a Woman came up to stop me who had watched these videos. She had just arrived for Orientation & hoped that Darlene coule train her. I called Darlene but she already had a student. I was at least able to give this Gal a few pieces of info & phones number contacts. She told me she had read my writings about the lifting requirement & had been working out & preparing herself. I want to see Women helping Women out here
Great interview Desiree. Very enlightening and constructive as you two shine a light on the realities of trucker training - and recruiting scams. Keep up the good work!
@CrashPrevention Thanks! I am working on uploading Part 2 of this interview today. I see that the troll are hard at work trying to interfere with other positive comments here but this is typical in trucking. They don't want honest Q & A about this industry. They want the public to see a side of trucking that is vanilla ice cream , but it's not like this. Real People run this freight with all the Real Life Issues of everyone else
@GETRDUN Absolutley! Paying your dues is one thing but because the manner that the trucking industry has been permittied to run amuck it is quite difficult to make it past the 1st year & find quality people who will provide quality guidance. Thanks for posting... I'm working on uploading Part 2 of this interview today
@TruckerDesiree : I agree that the industry has been permitted to run amuck, and until the shippers are unable to move their freight will we gain an advantage. Average pay, as you know, is lower now then it was 20 years ago as being in line with the cost of living. I have the up most respect for you, and all trainers who are willing to deal with the "training" aspect of trucking, You just never know who is climbing in the cab with you. I look forward to pt.2, Stay safe.
When it comes to a new lady driver hitting the road for the first time, it would be nice for the recruiter, to let them know and ask them, "do you realize what your getting yourself into because " Trucking" is not joke. Yes trainer's are risky their lives, but they are making good money doing it. All student drivers are really "team drivers" should make $500 a week, but as we know they don't .
@gtusmc05 They should be honest but they are not. That is cuz of the commisions involved in recruiting. Some Women get themselves into personal violence situations because of misleading& predatory recruiting. That is why I have been blogging about this topic for over 2 years. FINALLY people are stepping up to the plate & more people are talking about these topics. Still, they are trying to find a way to make money from it... that's trucking though... personal safety last & show me the money 1st
I am also a female trainer. I train both men and women. A few problems I have had is the women think they can work the lot when they are shut down. Also had one male student get drunk and steal my truck. I Will always sit down with the trainee ahead of time to get a feel of what they are like. Have turned down a student if they tell me they are just out here to find a husband. It is a shame that people have this misconception of trucking.
@cottoncandy65 Thanks for posting. Yes these are issues! Women who come out & want to "work the lot" when they are off duty. This is why I get upset seeing "Date a Trucker" sites linked to Recruiting Sites. ... The image that gets portrayed of Women Truckers is often less than serious & this reflects bad on all of us.
The poor quality of recruits is from Greed... the commission system involved in recruitment.
@cottoncandy65 seems like you have your stuff together as a trainer. Both male and females "student drivers" need to realize that the trainer is the boss while they are on the road together. The best thing to do is to sit down with them and give them your grounds rules, before hitting the road as a team .. Like you have already slated .
@fin1964 Thanks! I am working on Part 2... Darlene has had her challenges but like me, we were able to overcome obstacles & are trying to share the knowledge to other Women & men so they can be successful.
i hope some day to become a truck driver, you will need your 12th grade all will be treated with respect and we will see who really loves trucking to go all in in school
@TheHermitTrucker I hope more REAL Drivers, esspecially Women start talking about the truth , rather than letting non-drivers & recruiters keep saturating the internet with GLORIUS images that down play the hard work required to do this job
i wish i could train you 2 i dont think their is any diferance between women and men its all about the trainer allot of these guys see good looking chicks and they try to get in your pants not teach you how to drive thats a big problem
