Judy's 1977 Chevette Cold Start/Old Start

We had an old 77 Chevette that bounced around from family member to family member for many many years and that damn thing just wouldnt die! I could walk faster then it going up hill but damn that car was tough,my stepsister knocked the whole front clip of my brother inlaws 300 zx when she was a teen and it didnt even leave a mark on the Chevette! hahahaha That car is legendary in our family :-)

just down size the jets and a space plate on the bottem of the carb to allow the fuel and air to mix better

Put a stock carb on it that I got on ebay for $25 brand new. Runs like a champ now.

This was my old car. I added the 2bl because the old carb was beat up and I had that one laying around, brand new. Apparently, it was too big.

I rebuilt that entire motor. New pistons, rods, bearings, rings, seals, valves, oil pump, gaskets etc. etc. etc. The crank was polished, the block bored .060 over, head decked and valve seats ground to fit new valves. The intake is from a newer Chevette for better air flow. Glad to see that it's still alive and kickin'!

Hi there, Blue coloured smoke is oil burning. If it was running too rich and burning exess fuel the smoke would be black.

Likewise, white smoke with a sweet smell is coolant being burned in the comustion chaper.

@gsand88 It was trans fluid I poured in the cylinders to free the engine up, it was seized from sitting. It no longer smokes at all. It also probably took some time for the rings to re-seat again.

Don't really know anything specific about Chevettes, just going off general car knowledge here. I do know it has the wrong carb on it, it's a Holley 2bl off maybe an AMC or Jeep? I'm putting the stock 1 barrel intake and carb back on it, and we have to fix some other rigging that was done to get it running right. It also needs brakes and tires.

@FuelInjectionSucks Love to see more videos of Judy's Chevette. Her driving it. Starting videos, if it stalls, not starting right away, videos of it starting, filming all of the cranking. I love Chevette's.
