  • ey ich bin blond

  • needs more power

  • ha bin selber aus Frankfurt

  • Please video the machine at flank speed.

  • ehm kuckt auf mich bin n hamster

  • Well, that wasn't exactly ekranoplaning, now, was it?

  • if you feed this one better,it will grow up to the casspian monster size one day....just simply feed it 20 years....:)

  • Shit's not even flying

  • man that thing looks awesome, but too bad you didn't include it actually flying.

  • @camerongoll it cant fly. its an ekranoplane. that means it flies on ground effect (really really low)

  • @camerongoll

This craft never flying because it has crashed when take off from the water.

  • Its not flying. Its a boat.

  • This is not a flyer it's a skimmer no room for air to get under wings and cushion vehicle.

  • This is stupid, is it a boat shaped like an airplane? Ekranoplans hover, they don't float.

  • Good, but the Russian version is much better!

  • More accuratly it is Ground Effect Vehicle (GEV) not a boat. But the intention is not to fly in the air.

If it were then It seems to me that its a good looker but poorly functional. No doubt it takes a lot of power to get off the water but what do you do with all that power once you get into the air? Waste fuel?

  • It does not fly. The wings are intended to create a ground effect sufficient enough to lift the BOAT out of the water thus reducing friction and allowing the BOAT to achieve higher speeds.

  • good looking design, too bad that the video length was so short i would have liked to see it lift out of the water and actualy fly. it seems like a wasted effort , lol w/ next vid.

  • by the way

motors on the back it's not best technical solution

  • Cool things for traveling around coasts

  • Sounds like an old Moskovitch 2 stroke engine ......

  • thi's not flying XD

  • ach ja bin ne ganz lübe aba so einsam

  • Very nice!!! I hold a private pilots' license and instrument rating with a few thousand hours of aviation experience - can I play???

  • a boat would have been enough..

  • acrano planes do not fly, they glide over the surface of the water

  • Crappy

  • Links to the company website???

  • looks nice on the water

  • when was this....

  • Can it fly? or even get on the step? Bullshit video

  • Stolen from Russia

  • Who makes this plane?

  • This is ekranoplan.

But airglide is not showed at this video.

That vehicle hasn't reach much speed to going air.

  • very nice! cool!

  • just a glorified air boat, not an ekranoplan.

  • or I mean great ship or shit plane...

  • Ekranoplan schwebt, hat kein Kontakt zur Oberfläche

  • Coitus interuptus ... :)

  • You can buy plans to build your own: search for the UH-18SPW Hoverwing.

  • Waste of time!

  • the russians have a big version of this that carries pax(of course) very cool.

  • omg that was my thought and holy shit that was cool

  • why having wings when it cant fly :S

  • It can fly. It glides on water because that is more efficient and enhances capacity.

  • to reduce drag

  • Or shit

  • It's ship

  • its not supposed to fly, its just supposed to remove the friction of the water so it can travel faster

  • nice design

  • schönes teil who said it would fly??? es gleitet doch

  • who thought this would fly???

  • I did expect it to use the wing ground effect. This is just in the water...

  • its not meant to fly :)

  • Torpedos los!!!

  • b101aa2 said it perfectly....

  • what the fuck, hahah, that shit not fly like erkanoplan! Glory to CCCP

  • "New German Boat"

  • XD !! and probally , "new german Submarine"!

  • yes it can´t fly like the soviet big ekranoplans.

  • umm they do fly my friend like 1 foot off the water. it all depends on the pay load. if its fully armed then no but if its empty then is off the water and that's called flight.

  • this model appears to be underpowered, too much drag for the engines to overcome....may as well have been a conventional boat

  • these were always a funny concept. can't turn. have a boat in front of, hope you have good response timing, cause you have to land in seconds, turn, then takeoff again. got a big wave in front of you, no you don't, you just went down to the bottom of the ocean. and stealth, not a chance. so much giant wake and spray, radar can see into from the next galaxy. lol

  • Yay for Ekranoplan. They are actually quite efficient for saying they use ground effect.

Shame they never made it to commercial viability.

And the Ekranoplan's were first developed militarily in Russia, during the Cold War, But then were dropped from funding.

The (abandoned) Ekranoplan was found during a reconnaisance mission, and photographed. ;D

  • yeah i saw that on tv, the americans thought the russians had gone crazy, they thought it could never fly with those stubby wings, but it can using ground effect :D

  • These are WIG aircraft (wing in ground effect) they had several prototypes in the 70's but could not make them commerically viable. Australia has a company that supplied several of this type to Alaska (above the waves makes good sense). Max altitude between 7-20 feet above waves/ground

  • what i'd like to know is the turning radius of an ekranoplane... using ground effect to stay airborne means it must have one HELL of a huge rudder to turn..

  • Actually, you don't need a large rudder to turn. The turning radius is going to be quite large though. Some GEVs can bank slightly as they turn, tightening the turning radius.

  • What? He did not take off...

  • its not an aeroplane! its an ekranoplan! they dont take off!

  • Yes, man, I do know that.

It's fucking great thing of Russian (well soviet)hi-tech.

So pity that this beautiful plane not in use now.

  • Oh, my.... I commented the wrong video.... :)

    sorry

  • They do take off, just not very high. Usually a couple of meters at most. This thing was just a boat never became a plane.

  • your retarded...an ekranoplan is supposed to "take-off" its just that it doesn't fly more than a few metres above the surface. It uses ground effect to stay airborne.

  • Actally Dornier built a giant one in the 20's. It was called the Do-X & had 12 engines! so calling these a Russian name is unfair. a GEV can take off to 1/2 it's wingspan. This guy was just motorin' 'round! get morew footage than 28 sec next time. Ja?

  • Do-X was flying plane. "Flying boat" and Ekranoplan are two difrent things.

  • that thing is awesome

  • indeed 5*

  • This is not an ekranoplan. This is a new Shit. Shit trademark of all copycats and wannabies of real monster ekranoplan.

  • interesting design

  • Well if it does fly why didnt they keep filming?

  • it doesnt

This is the most beatuful ekranoplane I´ve ever seen!

  • it's doesn't flying!

  • I don't thing that is an ekranoplan. It doesn't even lift itself out of the water. The most efficent altitude to fly at is half the wingspan, so that little... thing really sucks. I bet that if you strapped on a turbojet engine, or even of gas turbines on it it would be much, much more efficient. Not to mention cool-looking!

  • This is an Ekranoplan. Its just starting and the video stops before it reaches lift off speed. Come on guys, every second post here is like "Thats no Ekranoplan because it doesnt fly !" Its just like you guys were looking at a 747 taxiing to the runway and you shout "THATS NOT A AIRPLANE ! IT ROLLS ON THE GROUND BUT AIRPLANES FLY IN THE AIR !" Jeez....Thats a real vehicle not a lighweight model airplane that lifts up after two meters. Get serious people.

  • Well said.

  • russian oneis much better and more powerfull

  • and how exactly would you know that?

  • just look on caspian monster, it is old soviet technology

  • @mrskyline911 they toys if you compare with the ones made by the masters in technolofy , maybe russian could make beter bodka, machines ja ja ja ja ja

  • @mrskyline911 Russian ones are better! but I am very happy to see it catch on in Germany: it shows that Ekranoplans have a future.

  • The Russian government asked the Russian CDB named by Alekseev in the next few years to resume production of еkranoplanes , which ended in the early 1990's. To renew the design and development work is planned in two phases, the latter of which will begin in 2012.

im sure it will be OK )

  • This is a video response to 'What is an Ekranoplan?'

A more appropriate question would be 'What is not an Ekranoplan?'

Answer: The boat in this video.

  • Wrong answer, this in fact, is an ekranoplan

  • It looks rather low in the water........a bit like a boat really

  • Yes because it only starts to float once it reaches its max speed like every Ekranoplan.

This video just doesnt show it doing more than a few km/h and ends abruptly.

  • Where was this filmed CCCPYoda?

  • has anyone noticed the props are applying thrust in the wrong place?and that it doesnt work?oh i see bada55 has

  • The seafalcon will be available for roughly 1.5m us...

  • These craft are an interesting application of physics, but for all the design and manufacturing work involved, it's hard to see a practical use-either military or civilian.

  • militarily they have a great use

    can't be detected by radar

dont emit any noise into the water so subs can't find em, they still have the world record in payload over any other vehicle, they are 40% more efficient than aeroplanes..

and well, they make great aircraft carrier destroyers if you will..

only problem is, they were developed in russia where nobody has the money to continue their research and work.

  • Thanks for that clarification. I recall the first time I saw the Russian version, my immediate thought was 'WTF???'.

  • Aren't the engines supposed to deliver thrust underneath the wings to help break surface contact? I'm sure I've seen a Canadian version (built by ex-pat Russian engineers of course) which does thie with propellers. Also some craft use a partial air cushion for take off & landing.

  • wtf?

  • this is a terrible clip of a device that *may* be able to do in excess of 70 mph, probably about 6 feet above the water (within "ground effect")

-similar(?) devices can be registered as a boat in U.S.

    -better video at hovercraft*com

-rilly wouldn't want to be in one at 70mph when one wing clips the water during a turn

  • this was the firtst test drive from nov. 30th .... that you shoukd remind

  • does it fly?

  • it will fly but this was the first testdriver this ekranoplan ever made ...its ojne week old

  • Hello,

    wonderfull Ekranoplan! Congratulations!

I have a question though. Is there an economically feasible application insight? Is there a way to you this technology in people transport or freight shipping?

    best wishes

  • Yes , there markets in Germnay I think and in other regions in the world to ...

  • Where can I buy it? How much does it cost?

  • it didn't look to me like it went past 40mph. Sure makes a great boat.

  • that is one of the first rides ..its still the beginning of many tests

  • the seafalcon has 250km/h / 175 mph the old CCCP Ekranoplanes are over 750km/h 500 mph

  • wow, how much km/h does it drive?

When anybody has questions , he can ask me in the comments !
