You definitely can't go wrong with an SG!
That amp sounds kind of thin though... check out the Digitech RP series pedals. They are cheap and I am AMAZED at the tones.
I don't even use an amplifier anymore for recording, practice, or live gigs. Just the pedal. I'm buying another one for backup.

Not a too much, but when I started playing the beginning an octave higher, I pressed it down. That's all I used it for at the beginning.
