Why should the Dearborn police NOT harrass young women? They are probably just trying to conform to Arab custom and Sharia law. The video footage supports what the police said. She disobeyed the police orders. That is a crime. Then after she proceeded to resist arrest. Your not allowed to question police during an investigation, you have to follow ALL orders. A crowd makes no difference. She wasn't arrested for creating a crowd. Criminals always whine that police treat them unfairly
A police can only give you orders if (s)he has a probable cause. And the police admitted in court that they had no reason at all to suspect Negeen of having committed any crime. Some details of the law may vary from state to state but I think it is actually acceptable to even use the exact same amount of force in self defense against a police officer as against any other assaulting person if the police has no probable cause and still tries to forcibly make you do something.

There is no law that I know of that could give the police a right to forbid people debating peacefully in the open. And apparently they didn't.
With what police admitted in court, I'm basing that on what they (Acts 17 and their lawyer) have reported about the trial, and they have the advantage of actually having been there.

How do I know that they are not lying? Well, I don't absolutely know that but I have no reason to suppose that they would knowingly make statements about the trial that are clearly false since they know that there are other people who could countradict them.
The name of the law you referred to is "disobeying a LAWFUL order of a police officer", is it not? The "lawful"part makes a big difference.

It's reported on many news sites, etc. All 4 of them were found not guilty of the charge of "breach of peace" charge.
Negeen was found guilty of disobeying police officer but this was (according to them, and I have no reason to distrust them on this) because the judge ruled on probable cause even prior to the hearing without reviewing the facts and refused to change his ruling even though police admitted they had no complaints about Negeen. They expect it to be reversed on appeal.

I don't know whether I can point you to source that you'd trust on the issue of negeen's one-day sentence being the result of the judge's prematurely ruling on probable cause. All I can say is that it would be very strange for them to be making up stuff like this now, given how they were otherwise vindicated in court and given that there are many people who attended the hearing and know the truth.

You do not have to explain that bile verse to me. i dont think the bible or christians are evil, I just wanted to show how easy it is to take verses and present them as evil or violent. you also have to understand that david wood has said some extremely hateful things about islam, so any muslim that knows him will automatically become defensive because we know he isnt being open minded.
He has said a few things that he should have at least worded differently. But it seems that the main point here is that speaking the truth isn't hateful. The stuff I've heard him say about Islam is such that at the very minimum, one must grant that he has enough of a basis in the Muslim sources for saying it that one has no reason to suppose he's being intentionally dishonest. He may be right or wrong in what he says but I'm not convinced labeling it "hateful" advances the discussion.
We have to keep in mind the distinction between hating Islam and hating Muslims. I don't blame him if he hates Islam. He believes it to be a false religion that misleads millions of people (and I share that belief though I still wouldn't say that I exactly HATE Islam). But if he hates Muslims as people, then he has an issue that he should deal with. Even this would not make his arguments wrong (or right) but I suppose it would be something to take into consideration.

You mean the part where he says "we certainly do" in answer to Pastor Joseph's comment in the beginning of the video? I think he is being sarcastic there. Pastor Joseph makes two "accusations" that he attributes to Muslims, "you are making this up" and "you hate Muslims". This forms the context for his answer and it seems Wood's "admission" is sarcastic since he doesn't even deny the making up part. I know he's said elswhere clearly and more than once that he loves Muslims.

The judge was wrong for convicting Nageen for failure to obey police officer to turn off camera. It seems that he blamed her for filming embarrasing police work , since the charge of breach of peace did not hold.
He should have ordered the arrest of Roger Williams for filing a false police report.
You should sue Williams since you've suffered monetary damages as a result of his false complaint. You can sue for damages and get him prosecuted for perjury if he continued lying under oath.
The police were clearly wrong. Obviously there was no crowd, nor impending riot. Tolerance must go both ways, and as has been demonstrated at, 100%, of the time everywhere in the world w/o exception, is the fact that Islam does not tolerate anyone else. Granted, the apparent police report seems to be rife with false statements, however, the young lady did refuse to comply with the officer's requests and raised her voice in reponse to the officer "touching" her. Her failure to comply is enough to place under arrest.

@leftysquints You don't know the law (or you're deliberately trying to mislead people). A police officer can only order to do something if the law is behind him. A police officer can't say, "Hey, take off all your clothes." It's illegal. It's a violation of our rights. Similarly, it's illegal for a police officer to touch a woman and order her to turn her camera off if she hasn't committed a crime. We have two amendments of the Constitution to protect us from this.

I have been watching the Wood/Acts17 video's. I have also watched some of the Muslim video's. My concern here is the upholding of Law and the accusation against the police (that they lied). I have a question for some Lawyer. I know in most states, to lie in court is called "perjury" and that is a felony. To lie in a police report... are there not laws against that? Probably something like "false report?" What are the Michigan Laws? Are we talking felony or misdemeanor?
I would like to congratulate my Christian brothers who respect their religion & the commandments therein. I see nothing immature in calling attention to clear breaches of peoples' rights, especially when their causes seem to some extent to be part of the current power structures of the city (thus enabling the continuation and increase of similar breaches of justice if left unchallenged).

I think Acts 17 has every right to defend themselves in a court of law should it come to that. However, public accusations on YouTube don't strike me as something Christ nor the apostles would do, and I think that's supportable from the bible itself.

Sorry, but you may want to take what these folks say with a HUGE grain of salt. While it is legal to videotape people on the public streets if someone makes a complaint to the police the reasonable person would at least listen to the officer instead of hysterically yelling when he touches her elbow. It seems Negeen and her crew definately had an agenda and I doubt it was to "keep the peace." As a Christian myself, these type of "Christian" instigaters shame my religion.

@calitopgun I do not believe that our liberty is in jeapordy. As I mentioned, I support Christians who live in Dearborn, and I myself live not more than 1.5 hours away. The "sharia in the US video" is a gross misrepresentation of daily life in Dearborn, and I think most Christians who live there would agree, based on my experience and knowledge. Yes, but the Evangelical Pastors to whom you refer contacted Acts 17 and others very late into the process after they met, not including them in the discussions until only one of the Pastors voiced a concern. I mean no disrespect, but they did not handle the original situation in a biblical manner. The video footage supports what the police said. She disobeyed the police orders. That is a crime. Then after she proceeded to resist arrest. Your not allowed to question police during an investigation, you have to follow ALL orders. A crowd makes no difference. She wasn't arrested for creating a crowd. A police can only give you orders if (s)he has a probable cause. And the police admitted in court that they had no reason at all to suspect Negeen of having committed any crime. Some details of the law may vary from state to state but I think it is actually acceptable to even use the exact same amount of force in self defense against a police officer as against any other assaulting person if the police has no probable cause and still tries to forcibly make you do something.

With what police admitted in court, I'm basing that on what they (Acts 17 and their lawyer) have reported about the trial, and they have the advantage of actually having been there.

It's reported on many news sites, etc. All 4 of them were found not guilty of the charge of "breach of peace" charge.
Negeen was found guilty of disobeying police officer but this was (according to them, and I have no reason to distrust them on this) because the judge ruled on probable cause even prior to the hearing without reviewing the facts and refused to change his ruling even though police admitted they had no complaints about Negeen. They expect it to be reversed on appeal.

I don't know whether I can point you to source that you'd trust on the issue of negeen's one-day sentence being the result of the judge's prematurely ruling on probable cause. All I can say is that it would be very strange for them to be making up stuff like this now, given how they were otherwise vindicated in court and given that there are many people who attended the hearing and know the truth.

He has said a few things that he should have at least worded differently. But it seems that the main point here is that speaking the truth isn't hateful. The stuff I've heard him say about Islam is such that at the very minimum, one must grant that he has enough of a basis in the Muslim sources for saying it that one has no reason to suppose he's being intentionally dishonest. He may be right or wrong in what he says but I'm not convinced labeling it "hateful" advances the discussion.

We have to keep in mind the distinction between hating Islam and hating Muslims. I don't blame him if he hates Islam. He believes it to be a false religion that misleads millions of people (and I share that belief though I still wouldn't say that I exactly HATE Islam). Pastor Joseph makes two "accusations" that he attributes to Muslims, "you are making this up" and "you hate Muslims". This forms the context for his answer and it seems Wood's "admission" is sarcastic since he doesn't even deny the making up part. I know he's said elswhere clearly and more than once that he loves Muslims.

The judge was wrong for convicting Nageen for failure to obey police officer to turn off camera. It seems that he blamed her for filming embarrasing police work , since the charge of breach of peace did not hold.
He should have ordered the arrest of Roger Williams for filing a false police report.
You should sue Williams since you've suffered monetary damages as a result of his false complaint. You can sue for damages and get him prosecuted for perjury if he continued lying under oath.

The police were clearly wrong. Obviously there was no crowd, nor impending riot. Tolerance must go both ways, and as has been demonstrated at, 100%, of the time everywhere in the world w/o exception, is the fact that Islam does not tolerate anyone else. Tolerance goes both ways when it doesn't -it's called intimidation and bullying - it is what it is.

With all of the small, hidden cameras made for surveillance, why use a camcorder? You can get a camera that looks like a button on your shirt or a hide one in a ball cap. The cop had no grounds to grab your camera. And some vague allegation is not grounds to manhandle you. He has no proof you did anything illegal.

Granted, the apparent police report seems to be rife with false statements, however, the young lady did refuse to comply with the officer's requests and raised her voice in reponse to the officer "touching" her. Her failure to comply is enough to place under arrest.
"I don't think I can" turn the camera off???? Listening to the exchange between the officer and the young lady, i would have to side with the officer. Feel fortunate she was in Dearborn and not in Chicago or New York

@leftysquints You don't know the law (or you're deliberately trying to mislead people). A police officer can only order to do something if the law is behind him. A police officer can't say, "Hey, take off all your clothes." It's illegal. It's a violation of our rights. Similarly, it's illegal for a police officer to touch a woman and order her to turn her camera off if she hasn't committed a crime. We have two amendments of the Constitution to protect us from this.

I have been watching the Wood/Acts17 video's. I have also watched some of the Muslim video's. My concern here is the upholding of Law and the accusation against the police (that they lied). I have a question for some Lawyer. I know in most states, to lie in court is called "perjury" and that is a felony. To lie in a police report... are there not laws against that? Probably something like "false report?" What are the Michigan Laws? Are we talking felony or misdemeanor?

I would like to congratulate my Christian brothers who respect their religion & the commandments therein. Who go all the way to spread the Gospel of our Lord even though things might get dangerous for them. I live in Europe & even though I do witness to muslims whenever I can, things are so dangerous here that one can't witness to muslims like these brothers & sisters in the USA. I see nothing immature in calling attention to clear breaches of peoples' rights, especially when their causes seem to some extent to be part of the current power structures of the city (thus enabling the continuation and increase of similar breaches of justice if left unchallenged).
Also, are you claiming that Jesus never pointed out or challenged people that wronged him? Please think again and you should be able to come up with few counterexamples. The same is true with apostles.

@VYSV8340 I raised the Luke 6:29 objection, and at least one other commenter questioned whether or not I was really a Christian or not. I think Acts 17 has every right to defend themselves in a court of law should it come to that. However, public accusations on YouTube don't strike me as something Christ nor the apostles would do, and I think that's supportable from the bible itself.

Then these accusations were put into the books of the Bible, which was one of the ways to spread facts in the first century. We simply have the advantage of YouTube.

Sorry, but you may want to take what these folks say with a HUGE grain of salt. While it is legal to videotape people on the public streets if someone makes a complaint to the police the reasonable person would at least listen to the officer instead of hysterically yelling when he touches her elbow. It seems Negeen and her crew definately had an agenda and I doubt it was to "keep the peace." As a Christian myself, these type of "Christian" instigaters shame my religion.

Right to privacy is right to privacy in on on your personal property, not public property. the only thing they cant do is film state buildings or law enforcement buildings

This is what happens when a dhimmi Dearborn Police Officer believes the lies of the moslems with their 7th century head coverings. The officer had no lawful right to grab a tiny female and claim that she committed a crime. WHAT CRIME? This lie occurred because the (stone-aged, sharia loving) moslems were were offended by the Christians.

Look at Sweden. The Left will ban traditional Christian songs that have been sung in public for hundreds of years as "intolerant." Then they'll allow Muslim songs to be sung in Swedish schools. From the footage, the only person "congregating" around her, or even noticed her for that matter was the police officer. What was the criminal complaint about, anyway? The guy just stood there dumbfounded.

There are no new continents to go to escape religious oppression. So we cannot think that "oh it's ok-it's just one city in America"...NO! If we want to raise our children as believers without harassment and death threats. If we want to be able to tell our neighbors of the hope of redemption that Jesus brings to us and could to them. Brgulker I am sure you have the best of intentions. If we do not keep our liberty here in America (and this is about freedom as well as the gospel) how will we then preach the gospel. In Iran you can be killed for preaching the gospel. So if we don't fight for our freedom given to us by our creator, then we will be forced to either be quiet or die in our attempt to make Christ known. What will that do for evangelism? What would that do to the cause of Christ to silence American christians.

@calitopgun I do not believe that our liberty is in jeapordy. As I mentioned, I support Christians who live in Dearborn, and I myself live not more than 1.5 hours away. The "sharia in the US video" is a gross misrepresentation of daily life in Dearborn, and I think most Christians who live there would agree, based on my experience and knowledge. As a result, I don't buy the "fight for freedom or die" argument; it's based on a false premise.

The only way I can figure this is that the police are mega-worried that ANY sort of Christian-centred disturbance whatever at an Islamic festival will appear on al-Jazeera within the hour and, when that happens, the anti-Christian media will make up the rest.
The official appeasement of Muslim extremist violence in America is pretty nauseating to watch, but the police are just caught in the middle.

I'm a Christian. I live in Michigan. I support missionaries in Dearborn. Those missionaries would flat-out deny that Sharia rules Dearborn. Was justice served in Dearborn with Acts 17? Probably not. They were probably treated unjustly. That doesn't justify the smear campaign Acts 17 is conducting. As a brother in Christ, please stop this nonsense. Turn the other cheek. Move on with your lives so that others in Dearborn can continue their work.

Yes, but the Evangelical Pastors to whom you refer contacted Acts 17 and others very late into the process after they met, not including them in the discussions until only one of the Pastors voiced a concern. I mean no disrespect, but they did not handle the original situation in a biblical manner. I am sure their work is good and their intentions honorable, but they were judge and jury last year of Acts 17 and others. Thanks for your comments.

We all read the statements and links that were included with the Mayors press release. It's just funny you can't see how lies from the first couple of sentences ( i.e. after several years of coming to this festival- Um Acts only went 2 years, look up def for several).

How is that backing him? The only point I'm trying to make at all is that this series of videos doesn't accomplish anything for Christ. I guess I just don't envision Paul appealing to YouTube for being wrongly imprisoned if he lived today. I think he'd chose a different path.
