Absolutely no comparison, Whitney's cover is not even the same league as this one. This original is way superior while Whitney's is kind of generic........suited for the generic population.

Music shouldn't just be about blasting out notes as high or for as long as you can. Interpreting a song to how it should be sung is what makes a song stand out from the rest.

You know, there are only a few instances in time where a song belongs to a certain artist. The singer puts so much raw emotion and their very soul into it, that you can't bear to listen to anyone else's version. As "Over the Rainbow" is to Judy Garland, so is "I Will Always Love You" to Dolly Parton. Beautiful.

What I'm curious to know is this the ORIGINAL original (from 1974) or the rerecorded version Dolly did in 1982 for the movie version of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (both of which were #1 hits on Billboard's country charts, btw, and then in 1995, Dolly did another remake of it, with Vince Gill, which reached #15 on the country charts)? The first time I ever heard this song many years ago, I was sitting in the car while my mom ran into the grocery store. As I was changing the radio stations, I heard it and was so moved I nearly came to tears.
