@Turkagga Since you don't know those others I mentioned I only assume you have gotten into SF recently since Kuroda is one of the most well known 3S players, ShootingD has one of the best known ST ryu's out there. I didn't mention nobodies.

With the names you have mentioned Hart, Daigo, Mago etc, I think you are one of those guys who joined playing SF4 to begin with. These guys were not "some of the first pro SF players", they were part of a later generation. They are just old by today's crowd. Dicking around with SF for 15 year is different than playing it for 15 years.

@Turkagga That's not true. First off Alpha3 came out before 3S. Second, everytime a new SF comes out, a good chunk move on to play the newest SF, while a good chunk stay competitive within their previous game. Take Kokujin and RX, KO, and Kuroda, still play 3S as their main. Still a large ST scene in Japan with players who didn't move on like ShootingD, Yuuvega, etc.D44Bas only stayed with CVS2 and A3. Daigo's SF2 prime was early-mid 2000s. Japan keeps games alive, US doesnt.

The reason is that as HD remix came out SF4 was already announced.

And it came out only half a year later so a lot of peaople waited for SF4 instead of buying HD remix.

Onisura is a monster. He was shredding with Akuma.

I have to say it was a pretty good match, though I stopped playing Alpha 3 after I realized how insanely combo centric it is... and how broken the game is as well.

Daigo played as Akuma up into the 1998 tournament and then I think a bit beyond that, switching over to Ryu as his main.

This is from a 2003 or 2004 tournament, where he was eliminated in the first round facing Onisura.

Daigo is playing Ryu in this vid. It says so in the intro screen, his name is listed as the 2nd player (Umehara). He did actually switch to Ryu from Gouki after playing Valle's V-Ryu in the U.S. A3 tourney.
