@ramyadav111 It is, but look how much it has gone down. In the 70s it was 57% of population in India. know its an average of 25%. Which is still a lot, but if you look at the line graphs you can see poverty levels going down in the 90s when it had its economic reforms in 90s. Millions have been up lifted from poverty, because of India's economic growth its going to it 10%+ GDP in maybe 10 years. Even MORE Millions of people are going to get out of poverty.

maxkhan77, Well poverty in India IS less than some of our neighbouring countries. Education level is relatively HIGH in India than Pakistan and we have more arm power than them. SO, that makes India a strong nation which managed to avoid great recession.
