@skjskj3 2 ways, first is to select a whole bunch of scv's (dble click one and all on screen will be selected), then select either rax or depots, and hold down shift as you click where you wanna place them. this will make the closest scv's go and build the buildings. second is to do the the same as above for rax, but for depots, use only one scv, and always have him building 2 depots, so when he is about to finish one, select him and plop another depot. hope this helps
@skjskj3 yes, hotkey your barracks, then press that key to select all the rax and hold down a, and do the same for your command centre, except hold down s.
Best video I've seen on macro. You actually break down what to do, what to build, when, what buttons to push. With ABSOLUTELY 0 micro, 0 anti air, or support units, I'm now winning 80% of my bronze league games & I'm not even nearly as efficient at this drill as Halby. Thanks for the vid.
@bakedpeachpie 2 per patch = soft saturation 3 per patch = full saturation you want a new CC when you hit the soft cap so that it finishes before you hit the hard cap.
I dont have the rank to back this up, but as far as going straight marines, I think it's damaging to build a bad habbit of queing up multiple things. Yes, you can totally crush him with a 200/200 army, but the point of this game isn't perfect macro, it's responding to what your opponent is doing and scouting. Correct, macro is a nice thing to practice, but that's not something you do against other people on the ladder match.
And to continue my point, there's maps where you can practice your macro. I advise NOT playing against other people like this. You'll win, you'll develop bad habits and you'll discourage yourself with this kind of build because the "what if" theory. I am not trying to bash you, but this is most def. not something you want to try on the ladder or against other people unless they are bottom of the barrel bad. I have played silvers and golds in lower leagues that know counters.
And quite frankly, the first time they spot this build, they drop bunkers, tanks, or dts and hts. Banelings burrowed. You know, one little "Boom you lost your whole entire army, now you lose" thing. What I suggest instead is advising benchmarks and play normally. Advise builds like 3 rax medvacs and show them how to do it, then tell them to watch replays of themselves to see how bad their macro is. The only way you can truly fix a problem is to see it for yourself.
Lower league players, even if this is a really simple build, will STILL forget to macro. I dont care who you are, you still forget to check one thing every now and then. Its all about practice, play practice maps, have a strong beginner build, and then work your macro in, find timings, remembering upgrades. I just feel strongly against getting qued up at all because it's a terrible habit to break. You miss your macro constantly if you que. And you could also be using the money for other things
HAHAHHAHAHA I just lol'd so hard when he failed to micro his templars (reminds me of terran players not sieging their tanks), and your commentary style just makes it even more hilarious!
ok man i couldnt help but laugh watching this, im not the best player but i think i have THAT problem of overcomplicating things at times, and i just think that shit is funny how simplified that was yet beautiful (tear tear) lol
either the players are getting smarter or I'm still bad at this, but I find that I have to get 4 upgrades to win more than 50% of the time. I found that getting 1W/1A, CS, and Stim would help me win more matches against Terran or Protoss. Terran seems to be the ones that are the toughest to play against when I'm trying this drill out, so I find that I need the upgrades to win.
@AustinShowcases I just played a game vs. banelings and I won. :) the thing is that i got off marines faster than he could get off banelings (especially with 24 barracks teeehee) :D
it's the economy, stupid. Just as the clinton campaign's motto was in the 90's. It's the economy, stupid. What an epiphany. I thank you so much for this vid. I am doing it and I am finally (first hand) beginning to understand that it is the economy, stupid.!!!!
@FxPrimeSC2 what about psi storm, colossus, seige tanks, banelings, ultras, battlecruisers, broodlords? The point isn't to learn to make lots of marines, the point is to learn to macro really well, then take those macro skills to other strategies... When you learn to juggle, you don't start by throwing 4 balls up in the air and hoping you figure it out before they land. You learn to toss and catch 1 ball really well, then 2, then 3 etc.
@HalbyStarcraft psi storm is infact my ultimate strategy for MMM (marines marauders med) mass voids and mass zerglings. it works just fine. colossus is also useful against mass marines and especially against zerglings. I play both as toss and zerg, but i suck with terran, i really have no strategy :\ on the other 2 races i got strategies to counter EVERYTHING ! :D
Thanks for this set of drills. I'm trying to get up to a higher league myself, and I was surprised that I wasn't able to do your drill right at first. It helps.
I also love your benchmark concept. I think it should have received more attention on the terran forums. I think I understand your spreadsheet, but I was hoping you could clarify the benchmark numbers themselves, for total army value as a function of times you list. Does the sheet (bench row) match the numbers you use in the VODs
@jcorreiaatmitre the spreadsheet is intended to show how large your army will be if you execute various builds as well as you can... the global benchmark that i talk about in my videos isn't listed on the sheet, but is rather what the sheet is using to color the various columns... if a build has an army size that meets the global bench, that cell will be colored green. You'll notice that all of the builds on the sheet meet bench, but thats cuz when i try crappy builds that fail, i delete them.
I think I'll give this a try =P. I've been watching your vids for a while now, trying to learn how to play from them lol. This should help out a ton, thanks.
im a silver player and i want to try out this drill but what if the toss made collusus, made a perfect FF and stormed ur units. do you think u could still have won the game? but i will try this build anyway since its a good practice for my macro skills.
@cyrilgwyn You will win more games with 200u of crap at 14 minutes, than with 112u of 'the right units', use this as a stepping stone to learn how to hit 200u by 14 minutes, then start seeing if you can reach 200u by 14 while adding other, more reasonable things to the build.
The first videos I watched of Halby! Got me hooked on your method.

Plus i don't understand this button "holding 'a' here", "holding 's' here" are you talking about building scv's (s) and marines (a)?

This method doesn't work for me. I'm just too slow and inefficient. And i have a lot of unspent resources when i do this. I lose against normal a.i.
