@HeyImBubProductions umad bro? haha funny how u are quicker to call me a moron than to actually try to convince me evolution is true. who's really the primitive one here? jit
@hubjubjub I haven't the time or the patience to explain it to you. If you want to learn about evolution I suggest you read "River out of Eden" or another good one is "The Blind Watchmaker" you can download audio versions from Amazon, or you can illegally download torrents. I really like Richards voice it makes it easy for me to concentrate.
I have tried time and time again to explain it to people and to be honest I just don't feel like doing it anymore.
I believe in God. Okay, I'm ready for the outraged evolutionist out there to tell me why God does not exist. I don't disbelieve evolution, but I see some flaws in a theory. In perfect lab conditions, life has yet to be created in a lab from inorganic material. Also, has evolution stopped? Shouldn't more animals/plants be evolving now? If evolution is fact, does that disprove God? No. If the question of how life began is ever answered, there is still the question of how matter began.
I hat eit when my dad says "then why aren't apes evolving today?". and I say "they are". and they say "why aen't there differnet humans then?". I hate my father anyways though....but w/e
I think USA is arguably one of the most developed countries in the world mostly because of their 1% best educated fairing very well compared to other countries not because their bottom 50% are particularly clever. I can't image that you could find many creationists who have a degree from MIT, Caltech, Stanford etc.
I think the reaosn why some members of faith see this as a threat because, if one thing is wrong, then something like Heaven or Hell might also be false and death is only an inky viod. Yeah, scary crap.
Also, I believe that when faced with the question "How did I come into being?" a smart god would have said "I willed it!" instead of trying to explain something that might have exploded your first human's head.
@Daluprime True, like most Victorians Darwin thought white people were superior (though he was opposed to slavery). However, his racism doesn't disprove his theory. Also, Isaac Newton was an alchemist. It doesn't disprove gravity. The Pope is a paedophile-enabler but that doesn't disprove Catholicism. It just makes him a bastard. There's a point here which I'm sure you've grasped by now.
@mandrellian that is true about the gravity, and I don't give a shit about the pope cuz I am not a catholic. and I dont talk that much about religon. But I guess Dzillaa can believe in any thing he wants. and evolution has been proven.
@Daluprime Also Christians only think that he was racist because he made that theory so it is actually false that he was racist. Christians are actually racist in a way if you look at it from ANY OTHER religions view point.
I do think that evolution is a valid scientific fact. Even though I was raised Catholic, I took the writings of the bible in a metaphorical sense instead of a literal one like most people in The United States Of America do. The truth is that Evolution is not a religion, but Christian extremists of a few Protestant groups refuse to accept this because they believe that evolution contradicts the word of God. It's closed-minded freaks like those make me glad that I'm Catholic.
I have a love-hate relationship with arguing with creationists. I love it because their worldview and the extent of their delusions is entertaining and often shocking. I hate it because there's just NO reaching them. There is such a large amount of emotional investment put into their religious beliefs that it trumps logic every time.
@stylovore if you can keep it civil and rational though, its still worth having these discussions in a public forum, because there is always the chance of reaching someone whose mind is not as damagingly entrenched in their ludicrous views as the person you are actually arguing with.
yeah, i agree, and I do (rationally debate) at what lately seems to be at every opportunity. I guess with the above comment I wanted to openly vent, since I don't normally reenergize myself through conversations about the subject with like-minded people. At times it is emotionally taxing, and venting just helps. Recently I've been having a speciation debate with a rabbi who claims that macroevolution is only conjecture and therefore doesn't happen.
@stylovore it makes you crazy huh. i think if you are conditioned to think of the world in all its complexity as being just a few thousand years old, you really begin to lose the ability to even begin to concieve of the vastness of geological timespans. they just cant apply their little pet theory of 'microevolution' to that kind of extrapolation. sad... well done for having the heart to keep on with the conversation, this confrontation is vital. go go go :)
And no it's irrational to not accept evolution. Even as a bible believing Christian I could only assume that there was something missing in our understanding of what the bible was telling us. I couldn't accept that scientific evidence was so wrong. But I do know many well educated people who are young earth creationists. My sister for example has a masters in education and believes that the earth was created 6000 years ago.
I'm a recent apostate. American believers have a hard time accepting evolution because we are indoctrinated from birth. Our sense of family, culture, and national identity are bound to our faith. The social positions that our local religious leaders hold are believed to be biblically based and are reinforced by charismatic national religious leaders who sound wise, and some even scholarly. The leaders know that if evolution is right, then their belief system is wrong, the people just follow.
Can I just make one small point... It's not stupid or read of wikipedia... I happen to know he is this freakishly smart... This is not a response comment because the morons who decide to argue such points outnumber the amount of minutes in my life i am willing to give up to make such a counter-argument.
I'm not backing down like a pussy, I'm refraining from arguing with a moron. Never argue with a moron, from a distance, people might not be able to tell the difference.
Oh of course, you're so right. I should just abandon my argument and turn my back on my viewpoints and submit to anyone who disagrees with me. How right you are good sir
I don't know bro i guess Americans or simply SOME people are just ignorant but I believe in evolution 100% and it bothers me how people simply put aside the existence of Dinosaurs, since I want to become a paleontologists some day.
I also agree--evolution is real. From a religious standpoint, the 7 days to create the earth for a being such as God would be several millennia on planet earth. The natural progression towards creating humanity resulted in evolution from single celled organisms all the way up to us.
Well, the evidence in favor of evolution is overwhelming actually. But what I can't understand is why there are so many different versions of the theory of evolution and they can't make up their minds as to where we actually came from. If I'm wrong about that, then I guess it's more organized of a belief than I thought it to be after all. I guess that answers question 2, I can't do question 1...

for the first question, it's because most of americans are stubborn and stand firm in whatever beliefs they have.
for the second question, no i don't find it rational. matter of fact, i'm christian and believe that god caused evolution. however because it was so complex, whoever wrote genesis simplified it into god making everything in six days.

i hate it when atheists say "if god created us then why do people die of cancer?"
the answer is simple. you atheists believe in evolution, which is the mutation of genes and dna. cancer and other genetic illnesses have come into being BECAUSE of evolution. these genes have changed with evolution, dont try and use that shit as an arguement.
If it's creation why are we still evolving? Why are people now being born with less teeth because we don't need the majority of them anymore due to the fact we don't hunt or eat certain food?
Wow... How much DO you bother God? What's wrong with it being gay? Are you saying it has fantastic sense in fashion? Are you saying it probably has fantastic life savings due to not having to pay for children or child support? Are you saying it's absolutely FAAAAABULOUS? I am =) Who fail... You fail.
I'm a female =) you failed again. I'm also 17, and a student of Philosophy and Ethics, thus, are your beliefs as a result of a teleological, ontological or cosmological argument?
By the way... Using gay as an insult on a debate about evolutionism... FAIL. Being as psychological studies demonstrate that numbers of people who don't want children or who are declared as same sex preferential rise as overpopulation rises... It's an example of evolution =)
No thanks... But with that approach to the opposite sex... Good luck getting anything =) And i'm not making anyone but my boyfriend sandwiches because he's not an uneducated moron. You may have also noticed... I'm not swearing, because my point IS well substantiated. I don't recall saying the next step is homosexuality, I do however recall stating that the rising numbers alongside overpopulation is not by pure chance. By the way, homophobia is a blatant demonstration of latent homosexuality. =)
Oh your comedy wit... It has me laughing histerically... Funnily enough... If you ever come across a group about 'being a girl and gladly making your sandwich' on facebook... I created that... I'd put rat poison in yours =) you're inhibiting evolution, just helping the population =)
Here's something interesting to consider. I come from a small town in Kentucky and I acknowledge the evidence of evolution while I am christian. The town I'm from, scottsville, is full of so many christians who believe the same way I do. I found it interesting that this one small town acknowledges evolution and religion to the extent that it does while it is part of the 'bible belt'.
its because the creationist story in the bible is not meant to be taken literally - its metaphorical. even priests aknowledge evolution and darwin was a christian.
Let me just say, I am American, I am Roman Catholic (which is the biggest sect of Christianity), & I believe that BOTH theories are correct. I think that God created evolution, as he created the heavens & the universe. God created science, along with everything else. I think God created the universe & then created evolution, since it wouldn't be right to just have all of the animals be poofed onto this planet.
That is what I think. Do you think this sounds good enough?
First of all, Roman Catholics were the first Christians to exist. They also differ by their alleigance to the Pope & also that they love the Saints & feel that they are very important, as they help spread Jesus's wisdom.
Second, think about this. God has been around for eternity & will continue to be here. What may seem 7 days to him/her could be billions of years to us. As for his image, I feel that God can change shape & that all animals are in his image, not just us (FYI, I love animals).
it says in the bible nothing about conforming to a single persons view on what to do and believe, and as the view changes when a new pope is (indoctrinated i think) brought in.
"The word saint comes from the Greek word "hagios" which means consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." "
saints are just very godly people, not people set apart by god for others to 'worship'.
If Catholics are not the first Christians to exist, then they are certainly the first Christians to exist & still be around today.
Saints have spread Jesus's wisdom, which is why they are important. They are also the things you mentioned. In fact, did you know that Saint Jude was actually related to Jesus?
Well, I don't listen to the tobacco industry either, as I know smoking is bad for you.
Saint Jude is one of the original saints. He has a children's hospital named after him, which was founded by Danny Thomas, whom I'm named after.
Maybe you're right, as Christians are just one big religion. However, if you think Christianity has all these types, you should know about the more types of Hinduism. They have more types than Christians do.
there is no SOLID evidence for species to species evolution, ie its can't be proven in experiments.
there is definately pretty solid evidence for evolution, such as bacteria as a testable experiment and as you said dogs.
people, like me, have a trouble accepting it because i want to believe in god, but species to species evolution seems to go against the bibles teachings.
sure people can say "oh its a guide" or "god changed all species over time" but that is bad 'psuedo' science
it's not that I don't believe in God, but there is so much evidence to prove he doesn't exist. This war of opinions NEEDS to stop.

where's my sandwich?
disasterblast 1 year ago
Oh your comedy wit... It has me laughing histerically... Funnily enough... If you ever come across a group about 'being a girl and gladly making your sandwich' on facebook... I created that... I'd put rat poison in yours =) you're inhibiting evolution, just helping the population =)

Well then I hope you're not a christian, as Monty Python states 'every sperm is sacred'.

are you saying homosexuality is the next step of evolution? i dont wanna be a fuckin fag.
In that case you proved my point that homophobia is a result of latent homosexuality =) thanks

Here's something interesting to consider. I come from a small town in Kentucky and I acknowledge the evidence of evolution while I am christian. The town I'm from, scottsville, is full of so many christians who believe the same way I do. I found it interesting that this one small town acknowledges evolution and religion to the extent that it does while it is part of the 'bible belt'.

its because the creationist story in the bible is not meant to be taken literally - its metaphorical. even priests aknowledge evolution and darwin was a christian.
disasterblast 1 year ago
darwin hated god, it is recorded in journals
i think...
also, if you read the creation story in the bible it is in no way metaphorical

he admitted on his deathbed that he believes in God. like most people do as a last ditch attempt to make themselves feel better before they die.

DanielLaux429 1 year ago
just wondering but what makes roman catholics different from other christians.
anyway, there are problems with it with times and humans evolving from an ancestor, yet it says we were made in the image of god withing 7 days.
people could say that we were made as the old species we evolved from.
pauldaulby 1 year ago
First of all, Roman Catholics were the first Christians to exist. They also differ by their alleigance to the Pope & also that they love the Saints & feel that they are very important, as they help spread Jesus's wisdom.
Second, think about this. God has been around for eternity & will continue to be here. What may seem 7 days to him/her could be billions of years to us. As for his image, I feel that God can change shape & that all animals are in his image, not just us (FYI, I love animals).
DanielLaux429 1 year ago
roman catholics where not the first to exist.
it says in the bible nothing about conforming to a single persons view on what to do and believe, and as the view changes when a new pope is (indoctrinated i think) brought in.
"The word saint comes from the Greek word "hagios" which means consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." "
saints are just very godly people, not people set apart by god for others to 'worship'.
unless you were refering to christians.
pauldaulby 1 year ago
If Catholics are not the first Christians to exist, then they are certainly the first Christians to exist & still be around today.
Saints have spread Jesus's wisdom, which is why they are important. They are also the things you mentioned. In fact, did you know that Saint Jude was actually related to Jesus?
& yes, I was referring to Christians.
DanielLaux429 1 year ago
i just think listening to one of the richest and most powerful men in the world instead of listening to concience is a dangerous thing to do.
also i don't know who saint jude is.
roman catholisism came about soon after the romans stopped killing christians for entertainment.
i dissagree with the idea of 'types' of christians, it just segregates people.
i know someone who was refused to have her baby christened because she was not a catholic, just normal christian.
pauldaulby 1 year ago
Well, I don't listen to the tobacco industry either, as I know smoking is bad for you.
Saint Jude is one of the original saints. He has a children's hospital named after him, which was founded by Danny Thomas, whom I'm named after.
Maybe you're right, as Christians are just one big religion. However, if you think Christianity has all these types, you should know about the more types of Hinduism. They have more types than Christians do.

the hebrew word for days is the same word for days used in other parts of the bible, like where jesus comes back to life after 3 days, same word.
his deciples didn't live for millions of years.
god says (not exact words) he has set us apart from other animals and made us in gods image
so not everything is gods image.

good video.
there is no SOLID evidence for species to species evolution, ie its can't be proven in experiments.
there is definately pretty solid evidence for evolution, such as bacteria as a testable experiment and as you said dogs.
people, like me, have a trouble accepting it because i want to believe in god, but species to species evolution seems to go against the bibles teachings.
sure people can say "oh its a guide" or "god changed all species over time" but that is bad 'psuedo' science
pauldaulby 1 year ago
Im a christian and the only thing I dont agree with about evolution is the whole "We evolved from monkies". Everything else makes sense to me.
protosaber363 1 year ago
the widly accepted scientific theory is that we DIDN'T evolve from monkies.
but monkeys and humans both evolved from a seperate being that was like monkeys and humans, just we went through diferent evolutionary paths.
i'm assuming thats not what you meant but its usually important as not many people know that.
