@yourfieldofdreams - I never said he was a baritone: read my words. I have heard other people who don't like the darkness of his timbre which lead them to incorrectly opine that he is a baritone pushing his voice upwards. This, of course, is nonsense, but it is a complaint which I have heard several times. I. personally, think Kaufmann's one of the most spectacular tenor voices around today, along with Piotr Beczala's.

@MawrdewCzgowchwz They do so incorrectly indeed. He is nowhere near a baritone like one other commenter said - baritones can only dream of such ringing high notes, even the ones who do have a more extended voice.

Is there nothing he can't sing (and sing it well)? I know his dark timbre is not to everyone's liking (some have called him a baritone singing tenor parts; the opposite of what Domingo is doing!) but I am thoroughly impressed, from Werther to Lohengrin.
