Knife skills are good but when he was chopping the onions i see he double backed to chop the ones not cut right into smaller pieces, that isnt a good onion cut. I'm a culinary student BTW.
dafuq?! sniff some coke, you'll chop the camera man, the house and then yourself. rofl! nice vid, you deserve more views, maybe remake with a better camera?
@critesbill Yes is SOUNDS like he's hacking, but if you watch closely you see his blade doing the proper back and fourth motion most of the time, also indiscriminant is absolutely false, you'll notice that his pieces are relatively the same size, with 'indiscriminant hacking' there would be HUGE variation in sizes, his minor variations are nothing that will be noticed in the final product of a stew. The precision in which he does this can be defined as nothing short of skill.
i rarely use this word, because it's about as offensive as it gets in a kitchen, but this guy is an absolute fucking hack. It's a disgrace to have the word SKILLS in the title of this video. Fast, yes... Skills, no.
Please don't disagree with me here... even if you know nothing about cooking, or knife work, anyone should be able to watch this and realize that 90 percent of the time he is indiscriminately HACKING away at a pile of food. That is the opposite of skill or technique.
@critesbill Yes he absolutely is just hacking away at the food here, but as you saw in the video, he was making a stew, where the size of the cut, or even what type of cut you put on the veg is completely irrelevant. Im sure he would be able to do things well if he slowed down a bit and tried to do things correctly
It's inspiring in a way, I'll give it that. Through to any restaurant that requires prep staff to chop that fast, to just have a prep cook chill for a week and buy the damn robo coupe!
LOL...good skills for a noob chef...then again no worry bro...it's a stew...not a classic style 5 star rated French rest...and with that thought of you not having enough meat...well maybe you didn't have enough...or it was all that you've had in your possession...good show...by the way rules are ment to be broken...even in foodservice...
"I've been cooking for 8 years professionally, and I can still manage to make my mis en place look like I took a slap chop to it in less than 10 minutes"
dude... 5 lb of veg with that 1/2 lb of meat? wtf...
Awesome. I've been cooking (home) for about 16 years and still can't seem to develop proper knife skills as far as doing it FAST. I will cut myself every time. Thanks for the vid
Screw the haters. This is awesome, and inspiring. You make it look easy, and that is proof enough how good you are with your knife. If you make more guys want to get in the kitchen and try stuff then good for you!!
im high as fuck right now man... i dont know why im watching this stuff.... but it's fuckin awesome, man i love this knife cooking shit.... i should learn to cook man...
Obviously this person has a LOT of time behind the knife doing prep work. He's very comfy with the knife and works it well. UNDENIABLE.
Respect that. These are not intricately carved pieces. This is a lot of dicing and chopping, repeated. And repeated well. Not an amateur at all, very experienced cuts of similar type and size.
short fast, but without any technical ...... what you did is dog food? I really congratulate you on your speed, but no one would serve or fast food restaurant
you don't realise you could run a youtube show for cooking with crazy fast skills like that and be a true celebrity omg man get a widescreen 1080p camera or iphone 4s and start doing regular uploads please!
To the haters who like to put in there 2 cents. This wasnt a dam compitition. I should of called it fastest but inconstistant cuts so you wouldnt keep buggin me. @cookthebest1 You shouldn't take criticism too serious...as we tend to say, "food critic" is just some loser who never made it to chef. Keep up the good work bro, don't let the haters get to you.

I'm a first semester culinary student, and I've been trying to stay away from chopping so... "hard" to avoid hurting my knives. Does it really mess up the blade or is it actually okay to chop to hard like you see most chef's do on TV or online?
I love the part where you cut everything like you did care at all. Basically the whole video. Next time try to put a little bit more effort into working consistently rather than so quickly. I do like that you were organized through out.
just have to add, where did u see lemon? theres no lemon. theres things that may look like lemon, such as corn, turnip, and peppers,,, but no lemone. lol
@dvliman3:57 you're saying that this doen't require any skill? that THAT is all the knife? i've been cooking for 3 years and i'll say that is pretty fast
number of cuts obtained while perfecting knife skills can be reduced if you lay the objects always on their flat side. its very unlikely that one would be able to hold a thin peace of vegetable upright just with fingertips every time like this.
