The f 14 and f15 was designed to compete against a fictional aircraft.Reports that the Mig 25 Foxbat was so great these 2 jets was designed to beat the Foxbat.Years after they found out the Foxbat was HIGHLY overrated.Now the US has these 2 super jets that has no equal anywhere in the world.Designed to outmatch a fictional aircraft and even with all the modern designs the F-15 is the best fighter jet on earth with the F-14 a very close second...2 good things that came out of the cold war.
