@K3KCT I cannot wait to see you and other Scots who want independence eat their words. Truly, i can't. In reality, only 30% of Scots want to leave the union, and if you ever did, you'd become a tiny, insignificant country in the EU
@karezza6 Traditional Catholic, I believe he is. Vows allegiance to the Pope, but goes against the Rites and Dogma that was revised according to the past pope back in 1969.
So was Alexandrda, So was Leonidis and the bulk of his oppo's, so what, big deal it wouldn't bother me what which way a brave man hung if the chips were down.
Go to "google earth, street view" and have a look at the blue disc on "16 Kings Hall Road, Beckenham, Kent" . This is the house where Colour Sergeant Frank Bourne ended his days on VE day 1945 at the age of 91. I wonder what kind of car he drove.
I have heard that in "Braveheart" Mel as Wallace gets to screw the Princess of Wales - who was French anyway. No evidence it ever happened but there is one historic detail - the woman in question was 8 years old at the time. So according to Gibson Wallace was a pedophile.
@freebeerfordworkers The late Malgibson got just about everything wrong in his bullshit Scotsploitation movie. The jackass couldn't have researched Anything before setting off yet again to become a Big Hero. He even got the name wrong - the 'Braveheart' of Scots History was Robert the Bruce, not Wm Wallace.
and if he's so obsessed on "English tyranny" then why has Scotland formed our armies as well throughout the years as well as asking us for billions of pounds because they're not a self-sufficient country. I mean, it's not racist but it's fact Scotland can't survive without being part of the UK.
Irony is: so anti-british as he is, why do "film stars" think just because they are rich they suddenly become philosophers! He really must be ashamed of his ancestry, pure anglo-saxon, Gibba-suna, son of Gibba, a Saxon barbarian invader of Brittania! He he!William Wallace was 6-2 this pipqueek about5-4 anti btit bastard!
now I know what "schadenfreude" really means! the god money and his career!haha! he hates everyone, brits, jews et al. to equate my nation on a par with the ss (patriot) and this pipqueek about 5-4" with william wallace about 6-2" is laughable! this catholic fanatic if the had his way would bring back the auto da fe(inquisition)

@88Panzzer wow, American neo-nazis do exist in real life, and they are even more cartoonish than in the crappy made for TV movies. 39 years old and still shaving your head, listening to punk and blaming others for your failure in life? Grow up saddo
Oh if only! There is an irony though; Zulu and everything Gibson has ever done are historically inaccurate. Gibson's films tend to be utter sh*te as well and worse still; have him in them. Bible bashing wannabeamerican freak :)
@SCOTTISHB0Y Lmao he does does he...so you fukin idiotic skirt wearing fags think Mel the jew hater Gibson says what youre thinking ? You racist tranny bitch hahaha go and finish your haggis ya thicko saddo skirt wearing GIMP..hahahaha what a nob
As others have pointed out CS Bourne at 24 was the youngest Colour Sargent in the British army at the time. He lived to be 90 and there is the transcript of a BBC radio interview on Youtube "Lieutenant Colonel Bourne" which is very honest. He says all the British casualties were caused by rifles the Zulus captured at Isandwana and they were lucky they did not know how to use them or the British would have lost a lot more men.
mel gibson's just an wanna-be jock, anti semitic, anti english short arsed prick. Braveheart was an unintelligent tourism advert for the wannabe jocks.
The British were diplomatically forced to remove the Zulu threats, the Zulu's were having their warriors trained by European warfare by other empires. They were trained in the fire of rifles and kept up heavy volleyfire on the British soldiers and their rifles outnumbered those at Rourke's Drift by 2000. All of this can be checked accurately in reliable sources. At Isandlawana their ammunition and despatches were fucked up so a poorly armed string of men were assulted. 80 at Rourkes Drift
@HarryHook Brilliant idea! - very funny vid. P.S. Nigel Greene (sans facial hair) played Hercules in 'The Seven Voyages Of Sinbad"....but it could be "Jason And The Argonauts", I'd have to check.
@Trialbystone17 yes true the troops of all nations in the great war were used as cannon fodder, the AIF had one of the most enlightened high commands of the whole lot i think...just to take gallipoli..the british planned it (winston churchill) and it all went to shit and the ANZACs performance was legend..but this idiot mel gibson portraying the brits drinking tea on the becach while the aussies did all the fighting is a slander on brave men..the british landings at cape helles were a slaughter.
Hey baldie! open your eyes and read some news for a change rather than listening to Hitler's "best of" speeches on repeat over and over. Can you even hear me from way back in the 40s? ;D
Ah do i see a professor with pearls of wisdom here ?
No,
your NOT British, your a labour voter,i can tell, the two are not the same.
What gives you away is your command of the English language, your slant on history, your inability to enter into usefull dialogue with others, and the thought
(contradiction in terms )that you are educated.
i won a scholarship to study archaeology in egypt when i was 16,
just go about your buisness of claiming benefits and leave the thinking to those who can.
i love to see that whinging lieing aussie pile of shit get his just deserts
did you see the patriot with gibson in,where the brits torture and rape and burn people in a church,or gallipoli where the brits are portrayed as spineless hoohah henrys,or braveheart where we are all gay ,
this aussie git has made a fortune out of denigrating the british,i hope that c**k sucking mofo gets his......scum bag.
Too right! Read up on the Lancashire Fusiliers at the Landings in Gallipoli. Half the soldiers dead or wounded and a dozen VCs awarded. And that church scene from the Patriot was taken from something the Nazis did in the USSR! How dare they compare us to the Nazis the slanderous bastards! We should have sued for slander!
Factnotfictionpeople- What we consider wrong now was not considered wrong then. Not even by many of our colonies.
It took two world wars to estabish our values we have today. Granted all empires were (what we know believe) wrong. But try and compare ours to others and see the difference.
With much more humanity. that gets forgotten. And the fact that we were the only empire in history to abolish slavery (and one of the first countries too) and even send the royal navy on a mission to end slavery world wide (lasted about 150 years, refference Freetown, Sierra Leon). Stereotypes today demand that the world should hate us for it. However why did countries at the time like malta volunteer for the empire if it was so evil? Oh and many left peacefully at there own free will.
Yes well said sir. I would not like to have been a zulu, especially when they were independant. Of course being a member of one of the neighbouring tribes to the zulus would be even worse. The zulus are still here despite the British, the neighbouring African tribes to the zulus arent here, thanks to the zulus.
Nicely done Colour Sergeant, remember to give the bayonet a twist as you pull it out or it may get stuck. You've still got to stab that bastards eyes out yet!
whoever thought this one up is a bloody genius...i salute you!...gibson needed to be repayed for all his anti -english propaganda and distorted history that was dished out in "the patriot", "gallipoli" and "braveheart"
@louislungbubble Yes Bravefart got some cold steel there, and thats what the prick Gibson deserves for his anti Englishness.........."They don't like it up em"
@louislungbubble I'm not one for ridicule the English, but you have to admit the stubbornness of English officers was huge need I say more then the Somme?
And I'm not at all trying to piss anyone off just point something out.
@classicrocker2142 yes i agree in this , but you mention the somme, field marshal haigh was called the butcher after the war..but he was following orders, the offensive was designed to take the pressure off the french at verdun and had to go ahead... the french had been bled white by this stage...marty
its always the senior nco's that hold the men together, especially in those days when officers were just 'sons of generals' and usually bloody useless. Its the same now,i think most guys in any armed forces know their company or regimental sergeant major would kick their arse!
I saw Zulu when it first came out. I was 13 and fell in love with Colour Sergeant Bourne. My grandfather was a colour sergeant, probably as early as the end of the 19th century and he was as calm and gentle as Bourne is portrayed here, That is authority. The Real Colour Sergeant Bourne is buried in Beckenham Crematorium, not far from the Crystal Palace in South London. The actor who played him, Nigel Green, sadly commited suicide at 48 years old.
@creamtt I think if it comes to a contest between the two it depends what you are looking for. Mel Gibson playing Braveheart did not work for me. Mel Gibson was too 'Mel Gibson'. What we produced, and continue to produce in this country, is marvelous character actors (David Bradley for instance) and Nigel Green was perfect for the roles he played, including, as someone mentioned here, Dalby in the Ipcress File. Col Sgt Bourne has to be his best, though.
yes he lived through the first ww1 when he still served as an officer. he retired before ww2 and was alive until his death on VE day 1945, he was 91. he was before rorkes drift in a grenidier company where he was the smallest in the unit.
i take it u watched my video. yes it was a .45 calibre miracle with a bayonet and guts behind it.
can i just say i like the video i just think were mixing two totally different movies one with a bias to win against one which jesus help me was about the cause of freedom. (brilliant movie.)
we can all remember zulu i think i have the script up in my head somewhere lol.
im sorry this forgets to mention about seven hundred years between them, course bornes going to win he has a gun, mel gibson had a claymore 1300 yards to at most 6.
Borne was the last defender of rorkes drift to die on ve day 1945 at 91 years of age.
I have to say that Colour Sergeant Bourne would've owned Mel Gibson. The only thing they'd have in common is that both would be chanting their favorite Psalms while going into battle.
Poor Mel Gibson - he probably would lose against CS Bourne, but Sir William Wallace would've wiped the flerr wi' the wee lassie. FREEDOM!...
..And you non-Scots can't abide the thought of us going our own way,can you? Such a pity you English could never respect us Scots - we might've been a stronger nation. What we produced, and continue to produce in this country, is marvelous character actors (David Bradley for instance) and Nigel Green was perfect for the roles he played, including, as someone mentioned here, Dalby in the Ipcress File. Col Sgt Bourne has to be his best, though.

CSgt Bourne was only 24 at Rourke's Drift, he was still serving in World War 1 and as someone mentioned, was still alive in WW2.

yes he lived through the first ww1 when he still served as an officer. he retired before ww2 and was alive until his death on VE day 1945, he was 91. he was before rorkes drift in a grenidier company where he was the smallest in the unit.

i dont get that "excused" duty bit. lol

Its a military term - if, for instance, you have blisters on your feet and can't march, you may be allowed not to - thus 'excused duties'. :-)

The Bourne Supremacy!!
I have to say that Colour Sergeant Bourne would've owned Mel Gibson. The only thing they'd have in common is that both would be chanting their favorite Psalms while going into battle.
"Hook?!"
"That's for me too, sir!"
"STAY WHERE YOU ARE, HOOK!"
