  • i wash i could have seen LGA like that, by the way what happend to the music?

  • Love this footage. Typical WMG b.s. You know what would make a good soundtrack? Audio of a movie projector..lol...thanks for posting this!

  • A great blast from the past ....seems like LGA was like that only yesterday.

  • Thanks for uploading such hard to find videos of a long gone era. So many of those airlines are gone and so few today, with even less soon because of mergers and regional jets replacing main line jets. If you have any more such videos or copies, I would like to see them or maybe even ebay.

    Thanks,

  • I took all those 727s for granted back in the day.

  • Wow this is awesome!

  • WOW !!! This was a great video. I was a kid in the 70's. Please re install this video, with original sound. If no sound make a narration. All the best. great planes !!!

  • I remember taking a boy scout trip to LGA to see the new terminals under construction. They even let us onto a DC jet that was parked and not in service. Can't do that these days. Darn terrorists, ruining a kids fun.

  • never got a chance to thank you for this brilliant work

  • Where's the Pan Am 747 daily from JFK? LOL1 J/K!!!!

    Seriously, through, no Delta here!

But I simply LOVE THIS VIDEO, THANK YOU SODADEZ, AND THANK YOU AGAIN!!

    God bless!

    Antonio

  • Wow, thanks for this! Brought back a lot of memories!

  • love North Central and Ozark. Does anyone know where National flew it's DC-10s from LGA (there's one in the video at start). Amazing you could fly a DC-10 from LGA. that must have been an amazing take-off!!!

  • Probably to Miami...

  • what happend to the music?!?

  • What music caused the audio to be removed?

  • By the way, cute animation at the beginning.

  • How 'bout that Air New England FH-227! The beer can! The Cadillac of air travel!

  • Did anyone notice that, except for American, none of those flags still exist.

For the truly good old days.

  • You forgot about United...they still exist.

  • And Northwest Orient..although for the time being only now...as Northwest Airlines!

  • Without question 5* a brilliant video that oozes US aviation history. Considering the often prohibitive cost of cine film you have packed an awful lot into 2 mins. Without meaning to sound patronising - very well done and thank you.

  • Anyone catch the old North Central (precursor to Republic) at :30??

  • Great footage and song choice. I wish I had had the sense to do that @ JFK in the 80's, when I think of all the stuff I didn't get on film.......

  • Great video! I spent alot of time at LGA as a kid, just observing with my dad. We lived close by. Used to go to the Marine Air Terminal observation deck quite a bit too. As an adult, I flew from there often. As outdated as it is, I still love LGA. Nice footage of some great planes and carriers we will never see again. Thanks!

  • Same for me. I was there all the time as a kid.

Lived in Flushing. Took flying lessons at Flushing Airport.

I shot this on 8mm movie film when I was a kid.

    Glad you enjoyed it!!!

  • Very nice! I remember when we could go to LGA or JFK and just watch planes.........

  • I miss flying on Eastern Airlines.. nothing like them.

  • A pair of Gulfstream I's in there, too.

  • Great shot of what looked like a 172 taking off from LGA. How times have changed.

  • Love the footage! Great Job- good song too.

  • The 727 is a great a/c. Don't think they'll build one like that for quite some time. Great aesthetically and not a bad ride. One pilot said they only have two speeds, 150 knots and "really, really fast."

  • they stopped making the 727 in '84.great plane!

  • I wish it was still like that today

  • I saw your videos of LGA. Cool. I shot this film

at LGA when I was kid. Keep up the good work.

    D

  • Thanks

  • too cool

  • This brings back great memories seeing these old classic birds , I remember seeing a lot of these jets coming into Washington Dulles when I was a little kid, Ozark, Republic, Eastern and their "whisperjet" which was anything but that with those JT-8s on their 727s. I also remember seeing TWA, American, and Pan Am bringing in the 707s. Those were the days. I miss these old birds.

  • Actually, I don't think the 707 was a visitor at all to LGA. The DC-10 and L-1011 were visitors, however. Man, that was probably the coolest part of LGA back in the day!

  • Ozark rules. awful lot of Trans World planes, odd because their hub was Kennedy.

  • Beautiful stuff., Well before my current time.

Signed an LGA ramp controller date of hire 2006

  • Wat is this song called? I can't seem to remember.

  • Leila by Eric Clapton.

  • Thanx.

  • wasnt this the Derik and the Dominics version w/ Clapton as the lead singer?

  • Boeing 727, Boeing 737, douglas dc-9, and 1970's laguardia airport, folk those where the days. . . . ..great film!!!!

  • Awsome! That's gotta be from around 1976-1978 when Air New England got into "big" aircraft with the FH-227. That National DC-10 looked massive amongst the sea of 727's and DC-9's.

  • Dude, you rule. Thanks for sharing this video. I loved the National Airlines DC-10.

  • Thanks. I spent many hours as a kid standing

at the observation deck filming and photographing the classic airliners. The new jets just aren't as interesting. The smokier

    and noisier the better.

  • New jets all look alike. All boring two-engine busses. I rather like these old smokers!!

  • I like the old jets too. I love to watch videos of the Boeing 707 since it was noisy and smoky. Back in 1976 I visited both LaGuardia and J.F.K. airports just to observe the airplanes. I'll never forget the sound of the Boeing 707 taking off at J.F.K. That is the iconic, classic jet airliner. Thankfully some of them are still around.

  • Good Video.

  • EASTERN AIRLINES:

Laguaria would ride the jump seat during the war, had my father over to his house for spagetti dinner. Once father was stuck without crew hotel reservations at the St. Regis (?) Hotel, called Laguardia who said 'watch the desk clerk' Laguardia called up and got the crew rooms. Clerk was stunned

    GREAT VIDEO THANKS

  • Piedmont, Ozark, National, Eatern, TWA, Allegheny, North Central!

    Father flew for Eastern 1938-1970

Brother flew for Southern, National, Pan AM and now Delta

Have an original invitation to the opening of LaGuardia Airport around here somewhere

  • The golden days of air travel, gone and largely forgotten. Dig the National DC-10, and the EAL 727.

  • Capt Seth, You are my Aveeeation hero!

You realized the dream we had back in the

cafeteria at JHS 216. A lifetime of "Air Flight" has been attained. I don't know

anyone else that has flown the 'ol three holer!

  • Dig the rogue Skyhawk at 1:08 ?

When's the last time you saw one of those at LGA

  • The old AA B727-100 (0:50) was NICE!!

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!

  • the best part of this video is around 131 when you see TWA dominating all the rest FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS TWA

  • Loved it so nice to see all the great old airlines!!
