Sonicstate is pretty much my go to channel for all gear reviews! Thank you for putting in all the work. Could you do a show about setting up a home studio on a shoestring budget, built around the iPad? Starting with MIDI inputs (keyboards etc), to connectivity to the laptop etc. The iPad has really brought the entry level to home recording to a very accessible point, but I would imagine that, like me, there are tonnes of people out there, who are not quite sure how to take the next step. Thanks!
look forward to your review on the new Akai and ipad device...thanks for mentioning that...checked out Akai site...should be awesome...I just love music and technology...i feel like a little kid at times...exciting...
enjoyed this. you need cooler shirts. maybe tshirts from musical sponsors. i would like to see ipod wireless midi controller apps reviewed to control sounds in garageband and logic. nice job here.
There is no reason why the GUI could not be design with beauty in mind, this is a completely unnecessary dilemma. Under that logic, a moog synth, a Les Paul, or a concert flute should just be crude and ugly. My other peeve is the nature of the presets: They are all Ruddess sound! I have to say that the synthesizer allows for improving that situation. About playability I have only praise.
Great idea fellas. A pleasure to watch. The iPad/phone is now a ubiquitous thing in my own life, so having someone like yourselves produce a show on iDevice music is quite frankly fabulous. Can't wait to see more!
Great show, Nick! I hope this becomes a regular feature. I thought Gaz made a great co-host!
I was really impressed with the live switching, but the camera frame-rate was almost as bad as mine! I know, I know, no budget... Sell some of those DinoSynths before they lose value; with everyone switching to Animoog and Sunrizer.
I LOVE GeoSynth! For those who say that geo looks bad: you need to understand that it was not suppose to be a daisy looking but absolutely unplayable "game" for two days, it is a real musical instrument. If you want a great visuals go play Infinity Blade, but if you want to play music Geo is everything you need. You saw an episode of my video in this pilot. Watch full version of it and some other my videos to see how playable and unique it is,
Love the show. Love the iPad show. Love my synths. Love my iPad as a synth. Love Palmsounds blog. Keep 'EM coming. iPad musician soundcloud com/freesoulsound all iPad electro
Interesting, useful tips, great angle on a very confusing subject (Whats on god's earth, is Midi still doing here??) , no BS, super-cool-casual-vibe, Great show! love it..
one humble suggestion - the show could definitely be longer (and perhaps the paste, a bit slower..). I'm a loyal fan, for many years, following your stuff, from here in troubled Israel.. Thank you so much!
This is a great idea for a show and I hope that you will be doing new episodes regularly! I always enjoy your review and videos and find them a great source of knowledge and inspiration. Cheers.
great job guys i like the show. maybe review some the synth apps for the ipad like IK multimedia's sample tank and or nlog Synth pro and garage band korg has some cool stuff out there to. seeya
Aside from the io dock, could you go over other potential midi connectors that could with the iPad..the Alesis is a bit dodgy with some of the apps. Gr8 first show chaps!
IO Dock has already been been reviewed by us you can watch that if you check our channel.
I hear you about the audio panning, it seemed like a good idea at the time, to allow some control after the event of the voices, but will not do that again!
Thanks for the comments, definitely helpful. RE: coffee - hard not to get a little hyper with so much going on, behind the slick, easy surface is a melting pot of nerves and technology ;-)
You do know that you are making my iPad lust worse right? :) Hope there will be regular episodes as iPad/iPhone music apps is a sadly overlooked area!
i fully support the idea, currently transforming my live set to be sequenced via ipad2 midi sequencing (genome). there are a lot of topics here, synth head-to-head reviews, midi tutorials and such... you mentioned Moogs first on ios, got it and sounds amazing! it really neads midi suport and maybe audio recording/rendering...
wish you would name them all the same , this was kinda hard to find ... isn't this "Sonic touch" now ?
