  • Call her PBR, I couldn't help but notice a can of PBR on your work bench. On the serious note, that's a nice rig.

  • The 3 shot grouping you mentioned - was it with factory grade ammo and what was the weight of it?

  • Thanks

  • @rccardude2331 no problem!

  • @m4gunner25

What size/number butler creek flip caps does the millett trs-1 need?

  • @rccardude2331 17 & 43

  • Nice rifle man!

Which brand of weaver and rings did you use?

  • @mFreeJolz theyre the 'tacticals'

  • I have a question for you if you don't mind. I'm actually planning to buy a Remington 700 SPS VAR in the .308 and buying that same stock. About how much did you pay for the stock and did it come drop in ready or did you have to modify it? I found similar stocks but they were made for the LTR, which has a triangular barrel. If you could please respond, I would appreciate it. Nice weapon by the way.

  • @DEATHstar331 thanks man! the stock was about $425. as far as fitment, i did have to open up the barrel channel a little bit due to the large contour barrel. It wasnt too bad to start, but I was getting some inconsistencies with my cold bore shot, so i went to town, leaving myself enough room for 4 20# papers to slide all the way up to the recoil lug. i would avoid anything related to the mistake that is the VTR.

  • @m4gunner25 VTR No good, eh? I've heard alot of bad things about it. I'm in love with this stock though. My only other concern besides the modifying is the weight. I plan on hunting/ target shooting with it and I've been told it's relatively heavy. Heavy means moving and repositioning alot which means noise and no kill.

  • @DEATHstar331 youve gotta keep in mind..usually its a hunting rifle OR a target gun. i hate to say it, but you cant really have the best of both worlds. it also depends on your hunting style/prey. are you stalking/pushing, or are you setting up in a field waiting for groundhogs? if its the latter, this stock is great, but its NOT something you wanna lug thru the woods for miles. (without a good strap)

  • @m4gunner25 It's more like stalking/crawling through the woods and setting up camp in one spot for about two days right beside a clearing. I checked into some other Carlson & Bell stocks that are lighter but none that fit the bill.

  • Nice work. I'm doing a similar build! Just torn between the 26" 1:12 or the 20" 1:10!?!?!? What's a guy to do? Couldn't Remington have just made a damn -$600 gun with a 26" 1:10. Anyways, beautiful weapon.

    I nominate "Bettye-Sue"

  • @DaMuuule they do! its called a Savage FCP-K! and its got a 1:9! lol, nahh.. but seriously..the 1:12 handles 168s with no problem. (ive got .26 MOA groups on factory ammo) I havnt tried 175s yet, but hear they fly just fine out of the same barrel.

  • yuck PBR

  • @BUCKrub91 dont. you. EVER!!! lol

  • Sexy ass rifle man.

I got one question if you dont mind answering.

What kit did you use for the magazine converstion?

What kit and is that 5 round mag u got or 10.

    Any issues with the kit?

  • @Theis124 its actually not a DBM. my goal when building the rifle was to do so for $1500 or less. a DBM didnt fit in the budget with the cost of the stock, and since a stock makes more accuracy than a DBM, function over fashion prevails! what you see is a 'mag xtender' IIRC. it lets me have 7+1 rather that 4/5. i usually dont put more than 5 in, but not cuz of malfunction, its just more common to shot 3/5 shot groups. i have loaded 7 and have had no problems.

  • 3:12 you were horny?

  • @csxconductor100 yeah! horny to play with my new toy!

  • @m4gunner25 hahaha. its funny that you have the same set up as me but mine is in 243 win. do you get sub moa with ur rifle?

  • @csxconductor100 hell yeah! So far, the best group I shot was .27 MOA, with store bought loads. Im about to pick up my reloading gear, so Ill be happy to improve on that, or at least improve the consistency of my groups.

  • @m4gunner25 this system puts all the 2000+ rifles to shame

  • What are the maxium effective range of these shot actions?

  • @JosephGarza07 well.. that depends on a few things. We'll assume were talking about this particular rifle: so, Ive already taken it out to 750 yards. I have footage taken from 700. ive seen .308s with shorter barrels shoot over 1300 yards. so really its up to the shooter, and his handloads (at that range).

  • You should call her Bella. Cuz its a Bell Carlson stock but the name makes you think of some sexy ass italian model - sexy yet complex and sufisticated. I like. Excellent work on the build.

  • @breakaleg82 not a bad call. however she has already been named since then. Misti. good pink mist reference. and she lives up to her name!

  • You should make a shooting video. Show us how she groups

  • @Jake93r17 funny you should say that! I just dug out my video camera, and was planning on heading out this weekend, weather permitting. Ill keep you posted.

  • @Jake93r17 yo dude.. i threw some footage up. check my vids.

  • Check out the follow up video, with pictures!~!

  • sorry for the trouble, but can i ask you to please weigh your gun on a scale? i want to get that stock on my sps, but total weight is a concern. thanks for your time sir

  • @lane1030 not a problem. I was thinking about weighing it now that its complete... mostly. with 6 rounds in the box, and 6 rounds in the side saddle, it comes in at just about 17 pounds. not TOO bad, but not really something you want to carry through the woods. (for meat)

  • @m4gunner25 well thank you kindly. i do carry mine for coyotes, and it pretty heavy already at 14, so i may have to buck up and buy a manners or something that is a little lighter(and more expensive)

  • @lane1030 yeah, manners makes some nice gear for sure. whats your current setup?

  • @m4gunner25 haha, a stock ass sps varmint in 308. im workin on putting a vortex hs on it, but now i just have a buckmaster 6-18. i dont mind if its heavy, but i do carry this for coyotes when im feelin ambitious. im 19, what can i say? lol how does your gun shoot with handloads?

  • @lane1030 its good to start early man.. I did! I started shooting 30 years ago, this year! ..and Im 34.. do the math. lol before you spend money on a vortex, tell me what your needs are and we may be able to find a better scope for the money, or even less money. I havent built a handload for it yet, but that happens this winter. I know what im starting with, and it shouldnt take much to fine tune it.

  • Respond to this video... oh yeah... how is the factory stock? I never even shot mine with it on there. I know everything ive read, but im guessing its probably a pretty potent rifle, factory stock, or not.

  • @m4gunner25 groups 168 amaxs little under an inch at 100, so yeah, it'll do, but not maximizing its potential by any means, but what can you expect from a Tupperware Special?

  • @lane1030 yeah, thats what Im using until i get set for reloading this winter. I will probably experiment a bit with the 178 grains too. although heavier, it has a better ballistic coefficient and since its heavier, it will buck the wind a little better. not that its a problem at anything less than say, 400.. but its good to have one load that does everything for you. hence the Amax over the SBKs

  • @m4gunner25 well, bit the bullet and ordered a manners t4 today. when it comes in ill have to make a video like yours of it. ive never done anything with a camera before, but my mom has one, so i guess ill try my hand at it. well thank you kindly sir, you helped me a great deal in making my decsion.

  • @lane1030 Cool deal man! Manners makes some top notch stuff. good choice.

I posted a shooting video. check it out!

  • how much for the rifle and stock without the bi-pod and scope? im looking to get one just not sure on the price,

  • @longsnipz about $425 for the stock, and the gun should be able to be had for $550ish. i got mine considerably cheaper, but thats an off chance occurrence. you could probably find someone hurting for money, and get it for about 400 used.

  • just a update: I took Misty out for a stroll this passed weekend, and she took a bite out of some 12 oz. soda bottles from 422 yards away. not too bad! in the next few weeks, ill get to stretch it out to about 640 yards. thats about as far as youre going to find around here.

  • @m4gunner25 past*

  • How do you like the scope, does it hold zero are the adjustments correct?

  • @jers1320 Im very happy with it. Is it a nightforce? definitely not! but, is it the best $300 scope on the market? without a doubt! shit..i cant even think of a $500 scope that can beat this. It holds zero like a mofo, and can take adjustments very well. one thing i WOULD like, is for there to be MIL/half MIL markings, instead of every mark being a MIL. all my ranging is done via scope, so it would be more precise that way, even though im never off more than 4-5 yards +/-. well worth it!

  • Respond to this video... oh yeah.. and when at 16X you have to be precise with eye relief and alignment. not really a problem for me, but I could see some people having issues with it. but, even just down to 14X, the 'issue' goes away. im glad this has a illuminated recticle, cuz if it was an option, id have gone without, but I find myself using it quite a bit. it really helps when youre MILing something in the shadows.

  • Hey I was wondering how the action fits in the bedding block. Because I've heard that they can be a little loose and that just bedding it ur self is better I have no experience with the aluminum block so I was curious

  • @Jake93r17 actually, it fits great! keep in mind, if you have an aluminum bed, you can still (and probably should, for superior accuracy) glass bed the action. but, for a out of the box set-up (aside from removing media from the barrel channel), it fits damn nice! as it sits now, i shot a .28 MOA 5-shot group with factory ammo.. Hornady match A-max 168's. (prone, no bench) ill be getting setup for reloading here in the next 6 months or so, so I can only imagine what that will do for me!!

  • Ya I know u want it as close as possible but the reason I asked was cause some other guy had extra high rings and his scope was about as close as possible to the barrel

  • do u have the extra high scope rings on that gun?

  • @GscottS16 no, theyre mediums. you want the scope as close to the barrel as possible.

  • Definitely Darlene lol

  • @sethbargo lol, not bad, just too late! I ended up naming her Misty. A little pink mist reference.

  • @m4gunner25 - Mmm, see I was thinking she looks a little more like a Silvie, or Silvia... Nice Rifle though. Sincerely- Brownnz.

  • i want an a5 too =(

  • @Mirind0R lol, yes you do! every time I shoot this thing, i fall more in love with the stock. possibly the best part of the gun!

  • @m4gunner25 any way to have one shipped to italy? stockystocks doesnt ship here, cabela's doesnt have any and the official remington importer for italy (paganini spa) deals in everything apart from stocks.

also, how can i raise the 550 EU for it?

  • @Mirind0R Its hard to say.. you MAY be able to find a 3rd party middle man (UPS, FEDEX) to take possession of the stock, and then forward it to you. if not, let me know.. I would help you out. I know that sounds funny, being as im just some guy.. but.. if youre heart is set on it, Im sure we could do some sort of ebay deal, so that paypal is involved, and we're both financially safe. as far as the 550 EU, its only about 300 EU for the stock, plus shipping

  • @m4gunner25 went to a gun shop that might be able to get a hold of it, in any case i dont have the money right now, when i will ill look into it and see what to do, thanks for the offer, ill surely keep it in mind.

  • How high are your rings, i just picked up a savage M111 long range hunter in 7 mag, and i have a millet trs 1 on the way. I want it mounted as low as i can get it. Nice looking rifle by the way, gotta love the M700

  • @Velocity4000fps

I got mediums for the rings. I think if i went with lows, they would hit. youre going to LOVE the Millet! Its 10 times the scope I expected for the money! just remember that all range finding needs to be done at 16x, even though theres a detent at 10x. ..I dont know why they set it up like that

  • @m4gunner25 let me retract that statement.. the GEN 1 milled at 16x, mine is a GEN 2, which mills at 10x. I have since confirmed this to be accurate.

  • Badass rifle, I am getting the A5 as well for my rem 700.

  • perfect pink mist supplier

  • @TheVengefulGod

    lol, yup! ZAPP!

  • A couple things i forgot to mention...

    Weaver 'Tactical' 6-lug rings

TPS-1 20 minute one piece picatinny base.

damn... i just realized how messy my workbench is... too many projects at once I guess. oh well..
