What? What did he say? You might get a lot better sound if you put a mic on the speaker instead of on the camera. Not so much price of mic that determines sound quality, but proximity to sound source. Even an inexpensive lavalier mic w/mini-jack adaptor would improve your results.
If you are using your canon powershot, sadly, you can not add an external mic.
