there is no harm in letting people walk through there. I wish I would have known about this before it was torn down. Now selling stuff is wrong but letting people go through the park. There is nothing wrong with that.
"Kevin Dietz, Rescue 4 Undercover" looks like he should be trying to sell boys slacks at Macy's. What assholes CHANNEL 4 -- WDIV are if they can't comprehend why people are eager to get in & explore Tiger Stadium & taking souviners, too.
What a fucking joke. The tax payers are paying for the "upkeep" of that building so they should be able to have access to it. I bet if they opened it up as a public baseball field it'd be in much better condition. Instead it's rotting just like every other building in Detroit.
If it was not for fans like the 10. paying money to play ball there. There would be not tiger stadium built in the first place. They are the ones going to games paying for tickets paying $10 a beer when they are there.
Don't charge them! They are the root of baseball.
they should only make mel give the money to the city from the items he sold. tell me who's hurting the stadium more a guy named mel and 10 tiger fans that wanna buy/sell memorobillia making the city money and [pay] to accomplish a dream of playing on the field...or kwame just knocking it all down.
right why are they getting mad that people are actually salvaging memorabilia rather than demolishing the whole fuckin place? looks like sombody is just pissd that people are makin money off of sombody. fuck id love to have one of them old turnstyles for 500$
mel should have simply. let them play small games an take photos for 20$ a person. an im sure if he talked with the city he could of sold the items legally
Before anyone tells me I need to mind my own bussiness, I am from Detroit. This just disturbed to think that people can say these things. They are litteraly spitting in the face of Tiger history.
Anyone who sides with Mel or the people who snook in there should be ashamed of themselves. It was disrespectful and inapropriate behavoir. Yeah they were having fun but they crossed the line by stealing and vandalizing. Even though it was going to be demolished that doesn't negate the fact that they stole stuff that was not theirs. It was just very disrespectful no matter how you look at it.
@adpainter77 You should be ashamed of yourself! Fuck the city of Detroit, they disrespected Tiger Stadium and tore it down, I applaud those guys for having fun playing ball there and taking stuff home, good for them.
It is not a stupid story; 4 million dollars of taxpayer money has gone into maintaining it since the Tigers left after the 1999 season. If Mel simply let people in to take photos and walk on the field, it would not be so bad. But what right does Mel have to sell turnstiles and other pieces of the stadium that don't belong to him. Nor do people that paid him the 20 bucks have a right to steal and vandalize the stadium
Why are they doing this? Why does detroit never tear anything down, they just let it rot. Get some revenue into detroit, bring Mel back and have him charge people to come in and play games of beer ball. It looks like fun and they arent hurting anyone. Detroit will let that place rot until it caves in on itself.
Imagine all the time, money and resources that went into this pathetic story. They actually used a helicopter for this stupid story. Then, after they have the evidence they need, the "reporter" goes back and breaks the law himself to get more material to pad this lame effort. Did these clowns become journalists to pick on people like Mel? Yes, he was breaking the law, but was anyone hurt by his actions? The real crime was letting Tiger Stadium die in the first place.
