It blew up I think. It has since been replaced. As australia is flat out at the moment digging minerals out of the ground, anything that can move dirt will be deployed. even getting tyres for these things is difficult and expensive. Try $30000 or more a tyre. a new new 637 comes in at a cool 1.2 million aussie Bucks. given these conditions, an owner would be mad to leave one laying idle for want of a rear motor.
I have heard the same thing about tire availability. Over here a company called North American has a crew dedicated to searching the world for tires to bring back home, mostly for oilsands work.

Over time, the removal of an engine on a push pull thats ran with another push pull with both it's engines will reak havok on the transmissions.

Update: The new rear motor has gone bang and been removed. Scraper has been christened 637 Lite.
