@spawnhell809334 what are you using? Micro$oft windows? a money making machine, allowing as much user created content and freedom as the fucking Nazi party?
@71KR117 thanks for the advice, but i did not upgrade from 8.4 to 10.4 i meant i used to use 8.4 and it was fine but this 10.4 is not okay. i may keep useing xp better than forrmatting every time i get such a problem
man i have huge prob, i did use the best linux and it was 8.4 then i wanted to use this 10.4 but i had problem after i started the os it does not move and i had to restart, and the same story over and over, if any one have any idea of what i should do tell me.
Man, that is horrible. My Laptop kinda did the same, but the resolution was reduced and when I would reboot ubuntu, the screen would distort and it would tell me about my graphics driver. Since then I uninstalled Ubuntu 10.04 and stuck with my ol' trusty Windows 7. Really, I would never want my 1700$ laptop go to waste. I just don't know why Ubuntu wouldn't work on such a great machine.
Its hard to tell because of the limited camera angle -- had the ubuntu desktop really come up all the way when you started working w/ the screensaver? In the video you couldn't see if the top and bottom panels were up and running.
Anyway have you got it working now, and if so could you please share how you did it?

first of all this is my account so don't bother replying. I also had awful luck upgrading from one version of ubuntu to another. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I have never had bad luck with a fresh install. That is why I always only do fresh installs when upgrading to a whole new versions. When I can't go a fresh install then I will just stick with the LTS version of an older iteration. 9's LTS is still supported untill 2011. The software will still update and crap either way.
I suggest a fresh install, the biggest issue with Ubuntu is indeed jumping from version to version.
While not as costly as updating windows or OSX, it can be annoying for new users to re install the OS every 6 months.
For more experienced users I would have separate partitions for home and root during partitioning and with that your personal files in home would be safe as you re write over root.
Video card drivers are a big issue though for most linuxes, especially for those with ATI cards.
it's 10.04 by the way!
