Looks like a badly infected sebaceous cyst. Not nearly enough pain control. Pain produces stress which taxes the body and makes healing more difficult. Also causes muscles to tense and tighten, possibly resulting in less-than-optimal expression and packing. Was this cultured? Hope he got a good broad-spectrum antibiotic. Still, probably healed ok. The body is remarkable!

NO NO, IT IS NOT OK!! That wouldn't be allowed if I was the poppee. Everything would stop until he put more lidocain in there. Having things like this done shouldn't hurt THAT bad. It is like pulling a tooth. There is medication (lidocain) that is made specifically to block pain receptors. We don't feel it when a tooth gets pulled, right? Why should we have to endure the lancing of a cyst? The cyst is already painful and the area is tender. Docs should quit forcing us to take the pain.

@diamondgirl828 He did use lidocaine, just not near enough of it. He just kind of shot it into the area below the cyst and called it good. You are supposed to go around the whole thing injecting bit by bit. That was the problem, even though he claims the reason was that it was expired. I get infected boils on occasion that I have to lance myself, so I speak from some experience. :/

That doesn't look sebaceous to me. I think it was a spider bite, which is why it is hurting him. Sebaceous cysts rarely hurt, and the material that comes out of them doesn't look like that. It's not bloody all the way through.

You can't just pop it, there is a cyst plug that makes all the gross puss. In order to get that out you need to get him to the doctor or it will just keep coming back, if you don't remove the plug from the cyst.

They have what's known as a core, which is attached to the wall of the cyst and gets detached and expelled as the pus pockets are broken and drained out. It's the hardest chunks of the material being squeezed out. Pus plugs form on boils and abcesses near the top layer of skin.
