People should have no symphaty for western imperialist soldiers crying and wailing BUT STILL KILLING
UNARMED CIVILIANS ALL OVER THE WORLD!!!
And the so called "dirty work you need done" is a poor excuse for one word: "money"
(and sometimes "power")
I pray your deluted brothers and sisters in the US army come to terms with what they are really doing all over the world and turn their arms against the vampires of the Free Market!
@RedFlagSaid I’m sorry Red Flag but you just don’t get it. The song has nothing to do with the Americans thinking they have the right to police the world. It is about the sad reality of war, that it is vicious process that never seems to end. And the song is about loss. The song is for all those that have lost someone in the line of duty. Not just American, but all countries. Now watch the song again and tell me I’m wrong.
@dajesusblues I am over 50 and since i was 15 I have opposed and fought against war. it's a disgusting waste of life always has been. My father died from wounds from his tours in Vietnam. I will always fight anyone who says "we need" wars. It's BS and they usually know it. And I HATE beyond reason those who put down or condemn those people we ask to go to that dirty work for us. My father had red paint thrown on him and was spat at. Horrible and not to be forgiven
@writerman242 You know the song has nothing to do with promoting war right. I for one don’t care if you don’t like war, but the simple fact of the matter is that you went onto a song that is about remembering the people that gave there lives for America and trolled it. By that comment you mite as well have went out and pissed on a grave. Have some f***ing respect.
HALLO MODER LISTEN UP , WAR IS FOUGHT BY ALL BRANCHES OF THE SERVICE
NOT JUST BOOTS ON THE GROUND , THERE IS AN ARMY , NAVY AIR ,FORCE MARINE CORP AND COAST GUARD coast guard by the way served in vietnam and lost men also, and i am a veteran, i did not serve in the Coast Guard but we need to be appreciated , --from a vietnam combat vet -- does not matter what branch i served in
the boots . The boot image . That was very powerful . My Father in Alaska shortly after my birth picked up a boot after a crash at 26 mile strip and it still had a guys foot in the boot . He would tell use about it many times over the years to were it is burned into my soul . That is what those boots brought back to Me
@everittjames I am crying as I type this. The images bring the words of the song into real clarity. I was just slammed back into that wall called Vietnam. Thank you for this beautiful, memorial upload for all our armed forces, whatever the name of the war was called when they served our country. Long live America!
I thank you for paying tribute to those who have and are serving the Nation and of course to those men & women who have sacrificed their lives while serving.
To all my brothers and sisters who have answered the call with the ultimate sacrifice. You are not forgoten. 1st Battalion, 7th Cav Cpt. Steve Write Gary Owen"
Most military slogans make me wonder, why are we so easily brainwashed into believing such bullshit. Everytime I hear somebody say that we're fighting for freedom, I remind them we already won that fight a couple centuries ago. We really need to stop our war mongering leaders from doing this to us.
Most of USA wars are for extra-profit to some hidden big boss.Young soldiers and innocent people daying for what??Washingtons garden have evil and dangerous roots.
Great video, very well done. Some of the images are hard to look at, but it makes one think about the sacrifices that these men and women have made for our country, and doing so as volunteers. We should all be thankful that our country still produces people of this caliber, ones who put others before themselves. God bless them all, and may they return home safe and soon.
My son is an infantry captain celebrating his 27th birthday on the Paksitan border. Not a great idea to watch this today. Question - where has Code Pink gone?
@83UT59 Tell him to enjoy the time he is there. As a former 11A I will tell you, life is pretty dull when it ends. I once though I had done nothing in my time in the unfriendly areas. A man came up to me when he learned where I had been and suddenly gave me a hug and, with tears in his eyes, told me we gave his people a chance to be what they could. He is making a difference.
A reminder of how special our men and women who now serve and have served in past are. Let us please remember what this day is really about. Mahalo for posting this Joe.
What I find sad is not only the theme of the song, but for the fact that Pete Seeger has fought for
the voiceless all of his career & still is overlooked for it ~ Cover versions are what most of us ever
hear of his song's, & that's not a criticism of this amazing cover

I wonder how many wars would be fought if the world decided that only men over 50 would be allowed to participate.

This song is not so much an Anti-War song as it is a commentary on the needless waste of young men's lives

There is nothing heroic about war. Nothing. Period. If you don't think so, then you've never been in one.

Freakin' Navy... Hahaha.
Watching all those Army soldiers and Marines make out with their others and then, -blam!-! Navy kills it with a hug.
Good ol' branch humor.

When the wars of our nation did beckon
A man, barely twenty, did answer the call
Proud of the trust
That he placed in our nation
He is gone
But eternity knows him
And it knows what we've done
I so wish that our leaders were worthy of the sacrifice
