  • It's incredibly rare that a cover is ever "better" than the original. This isn't Isis trying to play the song better than Godflesh, it's Isis' tribute to Godflesh for providing the framework for their earlier sound. It's a thank you note.

Both Godflesh and Isis fanboys need to shut up about who's the "better" band.

  • this can only be played on stereo's which volume goes way beyond 10

  • good cover track

  • saw Isis open for Tool, they are fucking LOUD. But Justins skreetching guitar always felt like blades on my spine. Long Live The New Flesh

  • Godflesh and Isis are apocalyptic stuff.

  • I like very much Isis but Godflesh is more intense and disturbing

  • every time i hear this song it makes me think of waking up in a sketchy, dark apartment building to the sound of people screaming and as i stumble to my front door i see people being dragged by black figures in nazi uniforms, leaving trails of blood. scared, i quickly shut the door and peek out the window and am awestruck by a pile of corpses being thrown in to an unidentifiable machine and burning buildings. just when the song ends i notice my reflection and to my surprise i wear a red armband

  • @Beenyad this should be top comment.

  • I honestly have to say I like this one more. I can kind of tune in to the emotion in this better than the original.

  • definitly an awesome band doing a cover of an equally awesome band. gotta love it fuckers.

  • why is Godfleshs song so notorious?

just wondering, its an ok song but what makes it so well known and great?

  • @8thstreetdropsoulja I'd say it has an "atmosphere" thats rare in most heavy music and is hard to imitate.

  • @livershot i appreciate you telling me this

now tht you've explained tht to me, i kind of notice it

  • Sounds great but that crunchy jackhammer sounding bass guitar godflesh has is unrepeatable!

  • Godflesh's track is the one on a league of it's own

  • I really like the tempo changes on this version.

  • Strangely I saw Isis open for Jesu a couple of years back.... they must have known how backwards that is, right?!

  • Oh sorry to all experts!

a second after posting i realized the original was from godflesh of course

now i know why the name of the song sounded so familiar to me

but it's a long time since i heard that

  • ehm?

i don't really know the band Isis but i found another vid called "isis - streetcleaner" (a bit louder but bad sound) and it was exactly the same recording i think

can someone tell me who's wrong?

  • not bad . see a lot of pointless talk 'original is much better'

  • ok but the original is much better

  • I love when the video still frame switches to "GODFLESH" at 2:50 ish. Perfect xD

  • This gives us a fairly sloppy version of the original and the vocals are made of fire. Very enjoyable, who cares about comparing it to the original. We have a nice, sludgy sound here with all of its own reasons for listening to.

  • Damn straight, godflesh is the greatest.

  • They do the song well.

    The original is better though.

  • origin is better.

  • you sir, are an idiot.

  • It's strange that I am an idiot for having an opinion. Oh cruel world, I'm so sorry for having my own ideas and feelings towards things, it's strange that this curse would be brought upon me. Oh cruel world.

  • @death2milkman if by overrated, you mean underrated, then yes, I agree.

  • Fact: Covers are meant as tributes to the original artists and not to be better than the original versions.

Fact: The original is ALWAYS better.

  • I can think of one or two exceptions, but yes, that is usually true

  • Fact: These are opinions and not facts.

  • an interesting and sick take on an awesome song. haven't been a big fan of isis recently, but this cover is massive in its own way.

  • my god. i love isis. i love godflesh. this blows me away.

  • It's a noble effort, but nothing touches the original.

  • Not a bad take on this sick song by Godflesh but the low end in no way compares to the original.

  • I fucking adore Godflesh, and I must say there aren't many bands that can do them justice, but Isis are one of them. Very powerful sound.

  • Awesome cover + video

  • this is fucking nuts how do you play this

  • as in guitar tabs

  • If you like this, listen to the Red Sea by Isis. It came from this song. I think they did this on a split with Pig Destroyer, it was like a sawblade vinyl thing. Interesting concept.

  • i miss the double bass godflesh's version has at the 1 minute mark.

  • Nope. The Godflesh version is rather intimidating and threatening sounding upon first listen. Isis is weak! Comparing Isis to Godflesh is like comparing brass to gold. Isis is cheap.

  • Nice interpretation of one of THE MOST heaviest songs to exist. But the original is still the best, hands down!

  • The original is incredible!

  • Cool cover. Though I would be a bit leery calling this interpretation of a classic (or even the classic itself) "melodic," a word that could be used to describe some of JKB's Jesu work and some of the later Godflesh output, but definitely not the early work. Great work Isis!!

  • This is how covers should be made. And I like this version better.

  • Great job! But the original version is more melodic and though less heavy on guitars is much heavier on percussion, the brutal melody of the drum machine on the original version is what gave it such power. This is still a great version though.

  • Tits up boys!

  • not bad,

but the original's still much more intense.

  • @malewhoreslag

    so much more intense.

  • @malewhoreslag i agree

  • fuck yes
