Jer.10:2-5 is not a Christmas tree, but the making of a graven image (vs 14). The gold & silver is real gold & silver not paper decorations. I get punished all the time for not celebrating any holiday that doesn't relate to God. This year Im grounded for 2 months cuz I didn't want to be around for christmas... Im 18. Christ also said in His word, that the Word of God is written on your heart once you accept Him as your Savior. Further, He says, that the ONLY thing you need, is Him; He, through the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit of Almighty) will guide you into righteousness. I encourage you who seek the Truth to see how clearly the World will try to convince you, you can't interpret the Word properly, without their help. The Romans did this too, hence the reason, the Word of God was translated into English.
In the Word of God, Christ warns us about a group of persons called the Nicolatians and praises those who despise them. The Nicolatians were class dividers who tried to convince the less educated persons of the world, that they couldn't possibly interpret the Scriptures properly. This is the same tactic used by all false prophets such as the one you're seeing scramble to exalt his knowledge over all of you. Our Christ told us, this would happen again in the End of Times.

@CRoadwarrior Paul wasn't talking about HIS writings when he said, (2Tim 3:16-17) "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work." The KJV is part of the MAIN problem; even the Authors knew and wrote, the work was INSUFFICIENT and most likely, CONTAINED ERRORS. Try one NOT taken out of the Latin but rather, direct from the Hebrew.
@KatherineBenElohim I can actually read Hebrew. I'm in my third semester of Hebrew, maintaining an A/B+ average. I also know NT Greek. So I'm not ignorant of Scripture in its original languages. The problem with your claim about Paul is that Peter DID confirm that Paul's writings were indeed Scripture (2 Pet. 3:15,16). So your claim in light of other Scripture does not hold up. Paul himself made clear that his words were the words of God (1 Thess. 2:13).
@KatherineBenElohim Paul also recognized the Gospels as being on the same level as the Pentateuch, as he calls Luke 10:7 and Deuteronomy 25:4 Scripture in 1 Timothy 5:18. So even then, Paul recognized the equality of Gospel truth with Torah. I advise you to revise your views.

i think it is wrong for humans to celebrate their own birthdays, yet it is fine to celebrate christ's birth. when celebrating christ's birth, there's no need for the ceremony to be on the true anniversary of christ's birth. i think my people chose 25 december as a date on which to celebrate christ's birth because 25 december was already well known as a day to have celebrations. i think some pagans had used 25 december as the date for celebrating the unconquered sun god.

Remember the Israelites in the wilderness in Exod 32 they thought it was okay to build a golden calf and have a "feast to the Lord". They were wrong. Coventrygardens, Acts 15 is about the law of circumcision. When Christ came it was not to be physical but rather of the heart (Rom 2:29). None of the Holy Days are to be done away with. Jesus Christ and the apostles kept them all. Here is a prophecy by Zech in Chapt 14: And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
jesus and apostles kept the holy days, yet that was before christ's resurrection. the new covenant was to be different from the old covenant. acts 15 shows a rejection of mosaic law, not just the law of circumcision. also, one cannot properly observe the jewish feasts unless the person is jewish, and non-jews can't convert to the jewish faith unless they receive rabbinic circumcisions, and acts 15 shows that circumcisions are not necessary for salvation.
Oh yeah after the resurrection the apostles nor the jews and early christians participated in these holidays and nor did the apostles ever teach them. One thing I've notice about God when he wanted his children to do something he would tell them what to do, how to do it, where to do it, and how long because he knows that if he did not give us instructions we would get ourselves into a lot of mess like we're in now.
if i decided to celebrate those jewish holidays, i wouldn't know how to do it properly. those holidays are generally used at jewish synagogues, which are just for jews. i see no evidence that a non-jew can properly participate. also, there is a bible passage where the apostle paul seems to approve of the apostle peter's decision to stop practicing jewish customs. thus i say that christians don't need to follow jewish customs, even if the christian is from a jewish background.

God is the same person in the new testament that he was in the old testament, so if he said for us not to do them than just don't do them. You can longer say you didn't know because now you do and if you choose to reject it you will be held accountable. Thank you. My wife and I are Christians, and we don't celebrate Christmas, as we are not pagans. Most of our family members think we are going against the word of God. It is difficult to do the right things in life sometimes, as the person who mentions "bible thumpers" demonstrates. There is a difference between ignorance and knowledge. Jer.10:2-5 is not a Christmas tree, but the making of a graven image (vs 14). The gold & silver is real gold & silver not paper decorations. I get punished all the time for not celebrating any holiday that doesn't relate to God. This year Im grounded for 2 months cuz I didn't want to be around for christmas... Im 18. This has been going on for years... I would like to have my beliefs respected as I respect others beliefs... Further, He says, that the ONLY thing you need, is Him; He, through the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit of Almighty) will guide you into righteousness. In the Word of God, Christ warns us about a group of persons called the Nicolatians and praises those who despise them. The Nicolatians were class dividers who tried to convince the less educated persons of the world, that they couldn't possibly interpret the Scriptures properly. And you can't know if something is an "mistranslation" in Luke unless you know NT Greek.

You guys really need to learn the meaning of historical research and context, and start reading the entirety of chapter 10, focusing on verses 8 and 14. Then you will learn that Jeremiah is talking about WOODEN IDOL worship, not trees with limbs and branches. The wooden carved and "graven" idols were gold and silver plated.

But there is a broader context, the rest of chapter 10 and other passages, which confirm my point. Taking Scripture out of context does not "settle" anything. More than that, Scripture today includes all of the Protestant canon of the New Testament. Where you got your idea from I do not know.

Look on the bright side. In this day and age, we have a Christmas tree to light up the long dreary winter nights. We eat with our loved ones and we sing songs and exchange presents. Times change, we are not following the holiday in any old Roman or Egyptian way. Just have fun but then still do whatever makes you feel content about loving the Lord. Honest, times change, Jesus knows what is in your hearts. Enjoy the holiday done in this modern time, none of it is evil..

its not a word for word, but the similarites are very close. not to mention mayn other similar stories of ancient egypt. and the eqyptians stories are older. Those who developed christianity borrowed from other cultures to make christianity more exceptable and familar to ppl of other religions to gain more converts. So there are variations but the similarties with christiansity and other pagan religions is very clear to see.

@B4mytyme The Israelites were not in Egypt when God delivered the 10 Commandments to them; Mt. Sinai is in the area we call, Saudi Arabia, today. They were NOT written by Moses but by the very FINGER of YHVH, as it is written. The "Law of Moses" doesn't just contain "laws"; it contains Ordinances, Statutes and Judgments. It explains HOW to keep the Commandments: it's "How To Be Human for Dummies!". God said instructed us to apply the Wisdom of the Spirit, aka, common sense.

Even the Book of Revelations declares that the only people who will enter Heaven are those who keep BOTH, the Commandments of God AND the Testimony of Christ. Verses 1-3 tell us HOW they got the wood to make their idols, then we later learn what they did with the wood, which was to make idols plated with silver and gold (vv. 8-14). You are trying to eisegete modern practices back into Jeremiah's time, and that simply will not work.

I say that because what is now accepted as the bible was compiled by the same people who innovated christmas into Jesus's teachings. Many books, linked to the family of Jesus and his disciples, were banned suppressed, and destroyed.

@CRoadwarrior Paul wasn't talking about HIS writings when he said, (2Tim 3:16-17) "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work." The KJV is part of the MAIN problem; even the Authors knew and wrote, the work was INSUFFICIENT and most likely, CONTAINED ERRORS. Try one NOT taken out of the Latin but rather, direct from the Hebrew.

@KatherineBenElohim I can actually read Hebrew. I'm in my third semester of Hebrew, maintaining an A/B+ average. I also know NT Greek. So I'm not ignorant of Scripture in its original languages. The problem with your claim about Paul is that Peter DID confirm that Paul's writings were indeed Scripture (2 Pet. 3:15,16). So your claim in light of other Scripture does not hold up. Paul himself made clear that his words were the words of God (1 Thess. 2:13).

i think it is wrong for humans to celebrate their own birthdays, yet it is fine to celebrate christ's birth. when celebrating christ's birth, there's no need for the ceremony to be on the true anniversary of christ's birth. i think my people chose 25 december as a date on which to celebrate christ's birth because 25 december was already well known as a day to have celebrations. i think some pagans had used 25 december as the date for celebrating the unconquered sun god.

Remember the Israelites in the wilderness in Exod 32 they thought it was okay to build a golden calf and have a "feast to the Lord". They were wrong. No where in the bible does it support birthdays or man made feast of our God. Why can't we just accept the feast days God gave us? They have insightfulness then any human could ever create. Coventrygardens, Acts 15 is about the law of circumcision. When Christ came it was not to be physical but rather of the heart (Rom 2:29). None of the Holy Days are to be done away with. Jesus Christ and the apostles kept them all. Here is a prophecy by Zech in Chapt 14: And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

jesus and apostles kept the holy days, yet that was before christ's resurrection. the new covenant was to be different from the old covenant. acts 15 shows a rejection of mosaic law, not just the law of circumcision. also, one cannot properly observe the jewish feasts unless the person is jewish, and non-jews can't convert to the jewish faith unless they receive rabbinic circumcisions, and acts 15 shows that circumcisions are not necessary for salvation.

Oh yeah after the resurrection the apostles nor the jews and early christians participated in these holidays and nor did the apostles ever teach them. One thing I've notice about God when he wanted his children to do something he would tell them what to do, how to do it, where to do it, and how long because he knows that if he did not give us instructions we would get ourselves into a lot of mess like we're in now.

if i decided to celebrate those jewish holidays, i wouldn't know how to do it properly. those holidays are generally used at jewish synagogues, which are just for jews. i see no evidence that a non-jew can properly participate. also, there is a bible passage where the apostle paul seems to approve of the apostle peter's decision to stop practicing jewish customs. thus i say that christians don't need to follow jewish customs, even if the christian is from a jewish background.

God is the same person in the new testament that he was in the old testament, so if he said for us not to do them than just don't do them. You can longer say you didn't know because now you do and if you choose to reject it you will be held accountable. It's not worth it, if you love God then just let the traditions go because I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's funny what our pastors teach, when we accepted Christ we inherited the promise that were for the israelites but not God's feast days

One thing I use to love about Christmas was the tree, it looked so homely, beautiful, lights, decs, etc.
But christmas is a pagan holliday, against God. dont celebrate the pagan holiday.

Christmas is a highly Pagan holiday, in fact all holidays are. Obviously you will not understand this unless you're Saved by the Blood of Jesus, and you will post hatred. That's expected from Heathens as they are under Satan's curse. A lot of corruption today comes from all the corrupt Bibles out there (King James 1611 Authorized Version is God's ONLY True Word, all others are from Satan). There are legitimate churches around, you can't give up on attending, that's what the devil wants.

The Christmas tree is in the bible. Don't you guys remember? Jesus cut it down and when his Mom found out she confronted him. Since he could not tell a lie he admitted to his Mom of the offense. Im finished with church life because theres more demons in churches than the world.

Hello wernersunkel, you are correct about birthdays and Christmas and the persecution that comes from it. I do suggest however that you search for God's true church. There are groups that keep God's word true.

The focus of Christmas is the message of Immanuel--God is with us. The focus of Christ's earthly ministry is the declaration of the Cross--God is for us. And the focus of our future is the hope of the resurrection and his imminent return--God will bring us safely home. Until then, God knows all, God is above all, and God is among us, even when it seems most unlikely: "I tell you the truth; whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me."

It means Christ was the sacrifice once and for all, and there is no need for anymore rituals (water baptism,circumcism,animal sacrifice) that is what it means. Not celebrating x-mas, and other pagan holidays is not a morality trip...it is being separated from the worlkd and no longer conforming to the world. It is also the taking up of hte daily cross, which is the cross Christ commanded we take up!

If so then YOU believe in some way that Christ's blood was a waste since some can refuse his blood, thus it goes to waste...it seems you believe that a believer can live how he wants, just like most free-willers, as long as you "accepted christ" thus making all things "legal" for you...I hope not because that is the spirit of anti-christ.

What is important is not the origins of traditions, but their significance to us today as believers in the Son of God. December 25 was not mentioned in the biblical narrative as the day Jesus was born, and, as such, we cannot be dogmatic about it one way or the other. But even if the date is completely wrong, there is still the opportunity for thousands of people who wouldn't go to church any other time of the year to go on Christmas day and hear the gospel of Christ.

Thank you. My wife and I are Christians, and we don't celebrate Christmas, as we are not pagans. Most of our family members think we are going against the word of God. It is difficult to do the right things in life sometimes, as the person who mentions "bible thumpers" demonstrates. There is a difference between ignorance and knowledge. When one learns the true Word of God, and does what he pleases, we have our money based society. It took me a long time to understand.
