The first bit of this song (0:00-0:48) is called "Bugler's Dream"... and when it was recorded, it had nothing to do with the Olympics! You'll be surprised at how many people didn't know this! :)

You could use a few lessons...You are not doing the proper Patterns, Right hand is for beating time, Whether it be 4/4 3/4 6/8 or whatever, Left hand is to cue, indicate dynamics or to accentuate things.

Winter Games is just a secondary version for chilling regions where you couldn't ever have Olyimpic Games when Classical and Original Olympics are commonly celebrated during the year.

Fortunately, it is a world event, having other countries participating.

You can't compare Olympic Games to the Winter Games at all.

I used to box in the early 90's and made it to the Canadian box-offs for a spot on the Canadian Olympic team to Barcelona '92. I lost in the finals but I wasn't sour. Cuba took most of the golds in the boxing category. Good times.

As for conducting, here's a general rule of thumb: think of the conducting positions being in the form of a cross. In a piece that has 4 beats per measure (like this one), the first beat is the bottom of the cross, the 2nd the left arm of the cross, the 3rd the right arm, and the 4th the top - then back down to the bottom position. Keep the beat with your right arm, and use the left arm to indicate dynamics or volume. Try it out :)

thewdude2 do you conduct.....ok then. major orchestras rarely use a patern because if your a profesional player you know how to count 4/4, 6/8 or anything else. Profesionals will mainly do the cues and to certin sections that have an abnormaly placed part or they come in with someone else and arnt heard. this provides the crowd with a cue to direct there attention. major conducors are ment to teach parts adn keep the group together.

When I hear the theme, I do not see myself as an athlete. This may sound cheezy, etc. but I think of the rolling white snowy hills and nature which is encompassed and incorporated into the winter olympics. I often picture figure skaters as well, making their magestic and eternally granceful moves. I will always love and cherish the Olympics (winter ;)
