  • someone who knows how to mount a camera. Good!

  • LOL, you were happy sitting back until the beemer took ya, then, "screw this!!"

  • @MrEndersShadow69

I am actually the BMW GS rider. I got the video from the Ducati Rider, and posted on to You Tube. However you are right, he pulled his finger out of his bum and made a decent ride of it after I passed him. Brilliant road too.

  • I've owned both a 998s and 1200gs and personally i could go faster on the gs on most roads then i could on the 998s . The easy riding position , wide bars, suspension on rough roads gave me the confidence that i never had with the duc. Not that the 998s wasn't a great bike . Have a 1200rt now and hate it , think i will trade to another gs or maybe multistrada

  • Wow what a super road some many people underrate the GS,myself included until i brought my first 5 years ago after being whopped constantly in the Alps .

So on my return home just had too test ride one and have Never looked back now have the R1200GS adventure and love it.....

    Respect Guy's Respect...awesome video.***** & faved.& of course Subbed.

    Regards Glenn :)

  • Why do you roll off so much around the corners? I'm not setting out to negatively criticise you, you're a better rider than I, but I have always been told to keep it open and gradually open up more from the apex rather than the exit.

  • @Smoke1987jdalej

having a Ducati up my arse and going so hard between really tight corners you need to roll off a lot, besides I needed to get to my destination in one piece and as it was I was scraping my pegs.

  • You are really good at riding, congratulations ;-) Great self-control!

  • Nice ride, I liked!!

  • Just watched this again!! not seen it for a while, brilliant, was the GS fully loaded?? as in, where the panniers full?...he was riding the wheels off the thing...respect to that man!!

I think the better part of the road for the Duke was from about 07.30 onwards as the road smoothed out and widened up a bit...could really have stretched its legs there...

  • @stuYZFR1 Hi, It is BMW rider who posted to you tube, and yeah the panniers where fully loaded. Scraped the pegs on a few corners. Duke finally got me on the long overtaking double lane. He had the legs and power, however I was right up his butt most of the time on the more open road.

  • You can see by the trajectory of the curves that the Ducati driver is a total rookie! Just watch carefully the trajectory of the BMW. I drive a BMW 1200GS and I know that a Ducati 1098 would eat me any moment at the same level of driving experience.

  • He should have passed, then again it's nice to get some footage of a romping GS too (since I ride one) so no complaints here, awesome vid!

  • I'm I the only one who thinks the Ducati rider was a dick riding so close to the Beemer after he got smoked? It's not like he got cut off;but he's sure tailgating like he did.

  • Those 1200s are no joke. Absolutely counterintuitive that they can lean like they can. Must be the engine location that creates the balance. I got whooped by one on my supermotard here in the Malibu canyons.

  • Yep they are very much an under rated machine. Would like to see those canyons one day on a 1200 GS of course.....!

  • @PaulMac4659,

Stay in touch when you do. I'll show you around. You will leave satisfied.

  • @PaulMac4659 No they are not underrated. They are underrated only from people that don't have their minds open. Most people will tell you it's the damn best two wheeler they have ever rode. (I know it is for me - that's why I have one).

  • @mulhollanddose Yup, I've had my lunch eaten by them on the twisties too and im riding a K1200GT sport touring bike! You got whooped on a 'tard though so i dont feel as bad haha.

  • @mulhollanddose i got an r1200gs - a good bike, but if you got whooped by it on your supermoto you should simply practise a little more - the reason why some gs riders are faster than riders on other bikes is because they have no idea what their frontwheel is doing (due to telever) and assume that everything is fine, while others with proper suspension crap their pants ^^

don't get me wrong - the gs is a fabulous machine for what its built for, but for real sporty riding its just too wobbly

  • looks like a really good road!!! are there roads like this out west near Perth?? me and my wife here in the UK often talk about emigrating to OZ , we have family in Perth so thats where we'd probably end up, we have amazing roads here, so its my worst nightmare to move all the way down under then be left with a flat featureless landscape...with straight roads!!

  • Yeah... Good luck with the migration. I do not really know if there are roads like this around Perth. I am sure there are....!

  • @stuYZFR1 It's an awesome road to ride on, or drive on.

Only got resurfaced a few years back :D

I've done it on my mountain bike as well as my roadbike :D

  • Very nice, Love the fact that the GS was right with you when you slowed up. Hitting Madrid, So. France and Italy in a month, ill try and post some up as well.

  • Awesome video! That corner @ 6.11 is an absolute dog... narrow rd, dip & bump halfway through, blind entry, but f&*k me you made it look easy! Keep her on two wheels (or at least one :oP ) and put some more vids up PLEASE!

  • What camera did you use to vid this?

    Nice riding, fellas. Stay safe!

  • Good stuff Paul! Told you I'd have a look...I reckon those panniers were holding your cojones! Thanks for the ride today. Grahame.

  • Thanks dude....I know what you mean about chucking in the corners. However, she just took it in her stride and I just kept wringing its neck....Awesome fun though. Wouldn't mind haveing a 1198 Duc myself.

  • nice vid, loooked like the beemer was going to bin it every corner!! I have an 848 which I sold my 1200 gs for, and now I can see why mates were worried I was gokng to chuck it down the road...great fun wringing its neck tho! will ghet amother when I can afford to have one and keep the 848

  • Great video guys! I've got a 1098S and that vid gives you a very nice impression of the 'experience' of riding one (the mechanical clatter and the exhaust note). Kudos to the dude on the GS! Top stuff...

  • Thanks dude.....I had to ride the shit out of the GS to keep in front of the Duc.....it was bloody awesome. I could hear him coming...nah not really...lol

  • That BMW looks like something out of Total Recall or Starwars. Dude, I thought those luggage racks were going to catch on those white posts on the side of the road. You guys have brass balls.

  • Thanks man...I must admit I was having a blast and pasing the Duc was fun and then him trying to catch a get past was even better. We had a really good chat after we stopped. Nice bloke and mutual respect given. That is how I got the video. It was just f*$#kin awesome. I want to do it again, and again.

  • Hey thanks for the feed back. I agree with you in that we are all there to enjoy the moment. Motorcycling is just awesome, and there will always be someone better or worse that you. Cheers.

  • Paul you rule because you demonstrate how a motorcyclist SHOULD be. No problem to talk and even post what an R1200GS (and the appropriate rider) "did" to you, which doesn't diminish your riding skills after all (we all have good and bad days).

You stopped at the top and even swapped stories. Great, you are an example.

  • Hehe that guy panier are almost touching the pavement....he was realy flying in the twisty's, impressive.

  • Yeah I was....wringing the bikes neck to keep in font of the DUCATI. The Duc' was quick though. He finally got me, and videoed the whole thing. Nice Guy too.

  • yeah very twisty...need something small and light...yeah I was riding the balls off that thing....absolutely stuffed at the end....lol

  • btw, the guy on the bmw is riding the balls off that thing

  • beautiful rode. not really litre bike territory though. would think it would be a blast with an aprilia 250 or something.

  • Nice riding.

  • Thanks dude....I appreciate your comment.

  • No prob. its a great run up there or down : )
