Totally part of the soundtrack of the time when supergrass, oasis and blur were starting out, played lots of small gigs around the uk, this tune was made more widely known by being used for Sony's advert for the minidisc player.
Saw them last weekend at The Cornbury Festival ...Amazing .. Have not seen them together since 2001 ... Beautiful , and had a nice chat with Jack after, great guy ..check out stringerbessant blog and check Amazon for new album ..Yard .
Still remember the first time I ever heard this song, it was on the Sony Minidisc advert. Loved it then, still love it now almost 11 years later. Such an awesome band. Man I'm drunk.
@McleanLibertySG Sorry mate, it is you who has fallen. Grunge was overrated anyway. Get over yourself. This here is true rock. Listen to that classic riff.
@McleanLibertySG Sorry mate, it is you who has fallen. Grunge was overrated anyway. Get over yourself. This here is true rock. Listen to that classic riff.
This is a fab guitar riff - I remember seeing an advert for something Sony had brought out back in '92 and this was the track behind it - what a cracking track and band.
@TheBantlingboy heh heh, your comment is kinda funny cos the advert was for the minidisc, shows just how badly that bit of tech flopped, that we remember the band from the advert better than a format that was less successfull than betamax.
..pure, raw, 'naked' talent ..born from Glastonbury's backstreets and ruined by American producers within 2yrs ..Replenish, solid - in my all time top 10..
Just bought Together (the best of Reef) for £4.99 at play . com !!! Winner!
I'm happy now - Hot sunny day, windows down, cruising down to the beach rocking this out! Just like it was when we were young! REEF ARE THE BEST! how did i almost forget them??!!
És que lo de estos tios no tiene nombre. ¡¡¡ Como les echo de menos!!! Suerte que nos queda Them is me (no es lo mismo es verdad, ni falta que hace, pero suenan de p*** madre).
Remember seeing these guys at the basement in Rock City@Nottingham just after the sony ad came out. Real small gig, right up close. Gary had a broken arm but still did a great job.
Good days, great band (esp. live). Will check out their new bands..:D
Nothing went wrong with them. They put out a few other albums that were just as good, if not better. I think they just wanted to branch out. Lead singer and the bassist are now in a band called Them is Me. Thye play a bit darker stuff, but it's still great.
It doesn't get much better than this people. Lets all join hands and change the world. Or we could go down the pub,get fucking splattered and mash a keebab, have a fight, then puke up on a taxi driver. BEERKEEBABFIGHT! GRRRRR!!!
Great riffs in this song.I am amazed no-one has uploaded the Sony Minidisc advert on Youtube (The band & this song were on it).Like someone who wrote earlier I always thought it was a Kit Kat advert!
'Naked' was the band's name, prior to choosing Reef. I saw them in the Fulham Swan pub, London, in about 1994 i think it was. Or it could have been late 93. I remember Jack handing out flyers for the gig a week before.
I also saw them in the Camden Underworld in 1995, supported then by, if i remember correctly, Bullyrag and Kula Shaker. Great gig, pretty much ripping through 'Replenish'
remember this song was on a mini disc advert or something years ago in the 90's and loved the tune. Was so chuffed when I found the album. Advert went something like: "You cant sing, your out of tune. You'll go along way". Might have been a kit kat advert actually.

The British Chili Peppers.. but better... such a great track, and an under-rated band

The guitarist has such great tone, im assuming he uses valve because there is no way you can create that sound other wise. Great track
donalds801 2 years ago 3
Kenwyn says he just uses 'heavy strings, a heavy pick, and clean hands'! I read it in a magazine once...
But yes, he obviously uses classic guitars (Strats, Les Pauls, and the like) through old-fashioned valve amps, and very few effects.
