I just love this production by Elijah Moshinsky, at the Royal Opera in London.

I attended a performance with exactly this cast in 2002, and another in 2009 with Hvorostovsky (again), with Roberto Alagna and Sondra Radvanovsky.

Both were superb casts.

I hope I to get to see this production again some day, and hopefully with Dmitri as De Luna AGAIN please!!!

My personal opinion: Manrico is a little weak, and Leonora can't act. But I could watch this all day because Dmitri is amazing!

Dmitri Hvorostovsky is not a good Conte di Luna, he IS Conte di Luna!!!

And that fighting scene is awesome, that's what would happen in real life if there is something like that, not like "hand on sword and sing about how they'll kick ass".

These are really great singers and great actors too just like Gérard Depardieu and Gabriel Byrne from the movie The Man in the Iron Mask!

Dmitri molto meglio anche se la voce ne risente del movimento!La soprano decente!

Comunque la sceneggiatura è davvero forte!

I love this scene. Usually they just stand there, hand on sword and sing about how they'll kick ass. And then the curtain falls before they begin to do it. In this it's way better.

I was at one of these performances and Villarroel has to be one of the most dull singers I have ever heard. You could hardly hear her in the house. The role was far to big for her.
