  • hey i just got my light sport rating out where i'm going to school (in Maryland) but i'm originally from Poway, do you know which airports have light sport aircraft rentals? I did a web search and found San Diego Sport Flyers out of Gillespie but I was hoping that there'd be something at Montgomery maybe...

  • @dbiz11 I know there are a few around. There are 2 at Ramona...a Tecnam Bravo and an Evektor Sportstar. I believe there is another Tecnam Bravo at Oceanside. I haven't seen or know of any lightsports at Montgomery for rent.

  • I just took my first ever flying lesson in a 2009 Tecnam Sierra LSA. Thank you for posting this video so I can re-live what was probably the most amazing thing I've ever done. I didn't see any other women besides me at the airport (let alone women flying planes!) and I have no airplane experience whatsoever, so the entire 1+ hour experience was literally mind blowing. I go back in a week to start work on my Pilot's License. I am counting the days.

  • @kimberlyanne546 Just wait until you do your first solo! Thanks for the positive feedback. It's nice to see other people experience the excitement and challenges of aviation. You may want to check out joining the EAA and or AOPA...they are great organizations and provide lots of resources for pilots. You may also want to check out "The Ninety-Nines, Inc." Good luck.

  • @909kick - Just did my first solo! I am not done with the "full" video but you can see my first landing on my YouTube.

  • This is a Really Good Video :)

I take flight instruction out of Chesterfield County, Virginia (FCI) in a Tecnam P2004 Bravo LSA. I enjoy it. I have logged 8.7 Hrs so far. I try to get my landings down as well as the approaches using 80, 70, and 60 kts and lowering the flaps. I have done plenty of power on stalls.

  • Terrific video! Love to hear the engine nose. Great job and thanks for sharing.

  • Nice video. I learned to fly in a Remos G3. The flight school in Denton, TX just bought a Sierra. I am looking forward to checking it out.

Nice job on the touch and go's.

  • Great Video .... like everyone says , no stupid video angles or crappy music , just pure video. Im learning to fly the sierra myself , so far only 4 hours but enjoying every bit of it ... i reckon i'll subscribe to your stuff ... good work m8

  • Gr8 video , i start my pilot training this week in a sierra & cant wait

  • Nice vid! i'm supposed to solo next week in a tecnam bravo...

  • Nice plane

  • Bravo! Now that's how you do a flying vid! No silly pop tunes covering the prop noise or weird camera angles. I felt like I was in the plane with you.

Ton of fun! Good job! Start my license in a few months. This video is such an inspiration

  • Thanks. I have a setup now that also records cockpit audio, radios, etc. Hoping to get some videos uploaded soon with the new setup...waiting on a new computer since my other one decided to get sick and die. Also, subscribe to my videos if you like. Are you going for the sport pilot rating?

  • Well the goal is to get instrument rated, I am leaning heavily in using the Sport Pilot rating as a first stepping stone. Unfortunately there is only one SLA I can find in my area that's available for training. Hopefully that will change by the time I'm ready to start.

  • Had my first flight in a Tecnam Sierra today... man, what a BLAST! Just a handful-O-fun, I'll tell ya! Certainly a differen experience from flying an Aeronca 7AC Champ for the last few months! haha

  • Nice video, this plane makes us stay and enjoy.

    Greetings from Spain

  • Great videos... I went through the whole Private-instrument-commercial route and finally found that flying LS aircraft are WAY more fun! I'm looking at getting checked out in a Sierra, in addition to my current tailwheel endorsment. :)

    Happy landings!

  • Great video! What San Diego area airport are you flying out of here? Looks like a fun airplane to fly....I prefer flying these LSA planes over the Cessna 172 because they have more of a sports car feel (maybe not overly fast, but fun!). Keep up the great videos....

  • Doing pattern work at Palomar in Carlsbad. Yea, I learned to fly in a 172, and don't have much of a desire to fly them anymore. LSA's are just fun to fly.

  • Nice visibilty from the cockpit, but the sound of the engine is not so reassuring. Maybe that engine is better suited for a cement mixer than an airplane.

  • What would be reassuring? Let me guess...a continental O-200? The 100 hp Rotax engine suits the lightsport category perfectly. It generates a lot less noise, very reliable, very economical (4.5 gph)...plus installed it only weighs 140 pounds.

  • beautiful video. Greetings from Tecnam headquarters city!

  • nice video! where did you fix the cam?

  • Thanks. It was on a tripod in the baggage area, which was tied town with bungee cords.

  • i got to fly the sierra for a short period of time and it is by far the most fun aircraft i have flown. its way better than the evektor sportstar and the standard 172. I felt like a fighter pilot from the 1920's with that sliding canopy. great video

  • Ehi, what do you think about the P2002?

  • I love it...it's a lot of fun to fly.

  • I heard that it's quite difficult to land it, for a beginner, is that true ?

  • Not really. Keep in mind all lightsport aircraft are just that..."light". So, if you have windy conditions it will affect the plane more. However, the tecnam has excellent control...even in slow flight. You might have to move the stick and rudder pedals more...but as far as I am concerned, that just makes you a better pilot. From a beginners stand point...you probably wouldn't know the difference. From what I've read, it's the guys transitioning from heavier aircraft that have issues.

  • This is true, This was the first actual aircraft I ever piloted. I've learnt a lot of about flying and aircraft engineering, but still this thing makes flying seem as simple as driving a car.

  • Ditto. Everything is difficult to land for a beginner. And if you're going to compare aircraft that are difficult to land the tailwheel aircraft certainly holds the Gold Medal. :)
