This would have been believable if it was just showing the kinect live feed through the chat app on ps3. This looks completely fake...obviously. I wish sony would make a new ps eye. The ps vita camera looks like it's just as good as the kinect. If sony had full body tracking and move then it would definitely dominate the motion industry.

More likely have to do a grand gesture like open then close your hand which really isnt practical especially online.

Youtube used to have a video of an interview with one of the sony guys before playstation move or kinect was out yet. kinect had a weird code name... i forgot what it was but it was basically the same thing just not on x box yet. you can try to look it up, but anyways you cant really say they copied them

from what I read, he's connected a kinect to a laptop, hacked it a bit, then runn a ps3 controller emulator and connected the laptop to the ps3 via bluetooth... all in all it seems possible in theory. whether this is fake or not is up to how big of a fanboy the viewer is... @carloenix - It doesn't work directly with the PS3, it works via a bluetooth enabled laptop running linux with Kinect drivers installed and software tot emulate a PS3 controller. Hence in summary, the laptop is emulating a PS3 controller where Kinect control is mapped to the controller buttons and analog sticks, and the signal broadcast to the PS3. As far as the PS3 is aware, it's communicating with a PS3 controller. Hence it's a complicated setup that works, but is of little value to gamers.

Hackers can show their ideas today because you can knock up an idea in days and post it on youtube, but games take years to make. 3DS is having these issues with 3D, where it will take time before devs can make the most of it in games. Hence I expect this E3 will show much more of Kinect's potential.

I read a lot of information around the kinect technology and the internal arquitecture of both consoles, and I think that PS3 never will run a body scanner natively as kinect, because the CELL processor only have a one PPC, and to run this software is needed a branch execution prediction, the XBOX has 3 PPC independent, but the 7 SPE horse power of CELL is not usefull for this. The guy uses a external laptop to simulate some position of your hand, but he can make this with your whole body ?
