Check your email reply from me. Also, there is another video that may contain the detector you are thinking of. Nlind, a fellow youtube member, has a video entitled "SMOKE DETECTOR CAT". You may want to watch that video as well.
I'm looking for video of the sears smoke alarm that had the battery inside the case next to the horn. I would like to see the smoke chamber in detail. I been searching for a picture for a long time This had to be a very early model
WOW! I have never seen the box that a Sears came in before! One of my Sears ones has a brass horn and the other has a 5/6 piezo. My mechanical one you had to take the cover off and the battery was inside, and the other piezo one had a black square box with the Sears type cover over it. You had to take the whole unit down to replace the battery, which was in a compartment much like the one shown here. The piezo one was made on September 29, 1982 from the stamp in the battery compartment.
I didn't know piezo smoke alarms were made back as far as 1982. I thought they were introduced in the later part of the 1980's. My cousin had piezo alarms in her house in 1987 and they were just newly installed at that time. Those old electromechanical Sears alarms gave off one heck of a screech but they got my attention when they went off.
I remember those alarms. These are the first smoke alarms that came out if Im not mistaken. I could be wrong though. One word: LOUD! My parents had one of them in their old house. I should have kept it when they removed it and replaced it with a newer alarm but I wasn't thinking back then. That one and the old Dicon alarm they replaced. This one is a slightly diffent model because we had to remove the over to access the battery.
The button is supposed to flash.
