when it is just about to fall off, get it and the mushroom will last up to a point when you can tear down the flag at the end

The Mushroom is a standard fare in the Mushroom Kingdom and is used for: 1) turbo-boosting go karts and, 2) replinishing HP.

The Super Mushroom grows (not only) Mario and Luigi two times their size and strength!

The Mega Mushroom makes you invincible AND grows (not only) Mario and Luigi five times their size and strength AND gives them super bulldozing-ground smashing abilities!

That's totally awesome.

i guess the mega mushroom wasn't in the wii version because in multiplayer mode (co-op, not battle), the player with the mega mushroom would be able to unfairly squash the other players and make them lose a life.
